I agree that there should be a way to get these weapons without having to beat veteran mode, as some players just can't do it on veteran. I seem to remember that in the past blue vr13 master weapons would drop from nDSA (not sure if this is still the case after the upscale).
People that want to get their hands on maelstrom weapons for a healer or a tank, but who have no characters to do it with are a real disadvantage with this kind of system.
Also, whoever thought putting the best weapons behind a singeplayer barrier was a good idea deserves a spanking. It's frustrating wanting to get these weapons and having to ignore your friends to do so. I mean it is an MMO we are talking about after all.
Hopefully with the next arena (if they make another one) it won't be a solo instance again, but rather a 2man or 4man, so you can actually do it with friends.

Normal DSA doesn't drop master weapons. Instead, it drops weapons from one of the DSA sets (Footman, Healer, etc.). As far as I can tell, if you want a Healer staff or Footman sword or whatever, the only place to get it is from nDSA, as I've never seen them drop in any of my vDSA runs post-patch.I agree that there should be a way to get these weapons without having to beat veteran mode, as some players just can't do it on veteran. Fortunately, those particular vMA weapons are trash. I've dumped my vMA resto for a vDSA resto as soon as I got it, and the vMA sword is so bad that I was using my old VR13 (not even VR14!) Master swords instead of my VR16 Maelstrom swords. (Though I've since switched to Tava and use crafted swords instead: vMA/vDSA swords don't fit into the current 5-5-2 tanking meta.)People that want to get their hands on maelstrom weapons for a healer or a tank, but who have no characters to do it with are a real disadvantage with this kind of system.
The vDSA revamp has been awesome. I've been farming that for daggers (for use on non-Flurry builds like stamblade or stamplar), bows (for PvP), and resto staves. Got a precise resto a couple of weeks ago that I'm now using on my healer instead of my vMA staff, and last week, I got a powered resto that I gave to my group's healer in exchange for his precise dagger--the group trading is great! Also, whoever thought putting the best weapons behind a singeplayer barrier was a good idea deserves a spanking. There is really no other way to get it, you can'y buy it you can't trade it and friends can't help you.
Let the weapons have a small chance to drop in normal MSA and in blue and make them like now 100% chance in veteran and can drop in yellow, just like all other items in the game. Even a cp150 drop would be fine.
Also there will always be leader boards and scores in veteran mode, but MSA weapons are just too strong to be so hard to get
Yea I hate this kind of elite gear that can only be accessed by farming solo PvE content. So far the discrepancy hasn't been to great but if continues to grow that is when I say 'bye bye'.
I left WoW due to the crazy gear creep from Arenas. I will leave this game as well if it goes down that path.
I just want to be able to log on and play at a competitive level in PvP. I don't want to make my game a second job just to stay competitive and will not do so.

why does it matter? If you can beat the arena... awesome. congrats, really! That means you shouldn't have any issues beating a player that can't beat the arena even if they had mal weapons. So again, what does it matter?
If you want to feel rewarded in life, go do volunteer work or get a degree or something... i dunno, anything. Just don't look to this game to feel accomplished all the time... especially that arena.
This is a game. Its meant for entertainment and fun. In an mmo, GROUP content is fun. Yes, farming dungeons and trials gets annoying sometimes but at least you're with your friends doing something together. If you prefer solo content... there's always skyrim. At least in 4-person content you're not stuck for weeks or months in single, solo instance farming for a weapon you might never find.
Mal arena is junk solo content and next to no one would be doing it if those weapons weren't locked in there.
I'm all for a change to that current system to make the weapons attainable through other means. I wouldn't care if they made them boe so people could sell the things! Just do SOMETHING so those of us who don't have the time to invest in this arena can get the gear one way or another.
The one alternative to making mal weapons reachable to most players... would be to make the master weapons from DSA worth getting. So far, only a couple of them might be worth using. I'm glad they revamped them and all, but they don't quite match mal weapons.
I'll be honest with you. You can't use time as a complaint for not being able to beat it. There is a save feature. Not to mention people that regularly beat VMA do so in about an hour even with out maelstrom weapons.
Serious question though not attacking you. How much time have you invested in leveling champion points? Farming materials? Farming gold? Leveling skills? It's all a grind man. VMA is a grind. The people that have beat didn't clear it their first try in an hour. My first clear took 12 hours total over the course of a week. My second clear took 3 hours. Third and so on I regularly clear it in about 1hr 10mins ish. Once you learn the mechanics you'll be surprised how easy it actually is. It's not fair for someone who doesn't take the time to learn mechanics and wants things handed to them by doing something as simple as paying gold for an item.
Don't you feel a sense of satisfaction when you work to get something? So is in life. People shouldn't be gifted with things, instead they should bust their @$$ for them and earn it.
Keep grinding man. No way will any forum posts get ZOS to nerf the difficulty of VMA. The time you spent reading and writing your posts you could have invested into learning round mechanics.
I know its a grind... but mal arena is the only one i can't do with friends, its just not enjoyable... It's purely a non-interest for me in an mmo.
I can get mats and gold doing group dungeons and selling items on the traders and cp just happens when you play the game. If they made the arena a two person instance or something i could understand that.... but not solo.

It is the only solo content in the game besides questing. I don't see how it being only solo is a valid argument either. It's meant to test YOUR ability. Not your groups. If you want group content go get master weapons from vDSA. But the solution if definitely not to nerf VMA or to make it a group content design.

Yeah except for three things...
First, you play vMA differently then you play in group dungeons. So yes, i believe it is a very valid argument. You use different skills, different cp setup, different gear.
Second, and most important since i've already mentioned a few times... this is an MMO... mmo = group content. There are dozens of single player games out there i could play if i didn't want to play online with friends.
Third, i didn't say to nerf anything. I don't care about the difficulty or learning the mechanics. That learning curve is in every dungeon.... so, refer to my second point again.

I'd be infuriated to find that after spending countless hours just to get my first completion, they're just going to practically give them away like... even at CP150/Blue. And I don't want to hear that "but I'm a tank" bull crap either. When I went for the completion on my Stam DK, I took off his Armor Master/Footman's, put on some Hundings/Agility/Blood Spawn & Kena, and spent probably around of 20-30 grueling hours painstakingly dragging him all the way through that wretched arena only to get some dam Glory right. Even though that reward was complete garbage, just managing to complete it had made me that much better of a player overall. It's supposed to test YOU as the individual on your ability to put together a sensible armor combination, decide on the most appropriate/effective of all your available skills, and test your patience, determination & understanding of game mechanics. If you cannot fulfill these qualifications, then you shouldn't have a Maelstrom weapon in any form... point blank.

When i want a stuff in pvp for test in pve , i need to kill player and gain ap and buy blue box with crap loot . and i don't back of the game because player are too difficult to kill . or because i dead too many time . And don't say me than PVP and PVE are not same or than is not a same gameplay ... i know this , but it's not a reason to destroy the PVE content and reward .
