    Not going to happen.
They -have- to make it for crowns, since that's how they earn their money these days. And since implementing this costs money... they have to pay their developers to code it and so on... they need to make money from it, at least enough to cover development costs and show a profit to the suits in charge as to justify adding the feature in the first place.

If they made it for gold only... it would be put so far on the back burner, we might never see it...

Best we can hope for the whole thing is that maaaaybe they would feel generous, and make the "everyday" options for gold cost only - stuff like getting a haircut, or changing your makeup/warpaint/adornments. And rely on all the "structural" options for their profit (face/size/shape changes, voice changes, gender changes race changes, name changes... etc.)

Yes, most crown items are account wide, just that my one 5k purchase was for the 4 Original rare crafting motifs, which are not account wide :P
My personal major quib with the crown store. At those prices, I would have expected the whole crown store motiv thing to be an unlock that allows you to draw a character-bound motiv book from the crown store as many times as you like, for all your characters!
But... different topic, for a different discussion...

I just hope that for appearance change that they allow you a time window or something after purchasing the change to get the character just right. It's hard to know what your character will look like in game from creation. I've thought they look cool only to find in game that they look all disproportionate. I would hate to have to keep sinking gold or Crowns just to fine tune my character's waist or something. Give us a way to see how it will actually look in game before we burn the character change scroll or whatever it winds up being called.

Voice Change: It's just a practical necessity resulting from having only some random samples to base the decision on. It can completely ruin the feel of a character to have the voice way off.
Having one character like that, I completely agree there. and wished the vopice samples were a bit better as well...
    srfrogg23 wrote: »
I kind of wish they would just go full plasic surgeon with this and let us change everything including gender and name.
I agree with the notion, though I would much rather have things split up a little, like... namechange not from the plastic sorceror, but from a recordkeeping clerk in your faction capital... etc. More immersive that way.

Would be really cool if imperials could have red hair and high elves have black hair
Once we have an recustomization feature, putting "new option packs" into the crown store is a logical next step. Including options to have "any skin shade, any hair/eye color" irregardless or race (would work wonders for playing "halfbreed" characters... as we know from the lore, the racial features are from the mothers race, but some physical features may come from the fathers race...) One more option pack I would really like to see are some that allow "structural" options... like exceeding some sliders, and make an extra-extra tall nord as a distant cousin of Lyris for example...

But above all else... I want those character ecustomization feature to come...
    Sooner! Sooner! Sooner! ;)

My half Cyrodilic half Breton (Imperial) could use some fairer skin to go with his Mediterranean hair.

PS. Most likely will be a 5k assistant. And/or will require style packets or something from the CS. I don't care mind you, just saying.

That is actually a rather likely way to do this. Pay 5K once, then summon your facechanger assistant to change as much as you want, forevermore. Would finally be something -worth- the 5K crown price...

Personally I still think they might be a bit more likely to make it with an "small cost per slider moved", and count on people being lured by the small payments in using it over and over egain, for more profit in the long run...
    ...but time will tell.

I just would love to find out...

FFXIV called it a stylist that you could summoned in you own house by clicking on an item after completing the quest for it. They then gave one free coupon for a change then after that it cost 2000 gold each time you wanted to use it. But again it was in game and nothing else you had to buy. I don't want to see a simple barber going into the crown store. Maybe race change since that would be more involved with passives and all.

I would really like a Barber Shop feature to change our character's appearance after creation. I'd like the Barber Shop to offer the same level of customization the character creation screen has. I'm willing to buy this feature in the Crown Store, but I think the first time use for each character should free.

    +1

DO NOT charge crowns to enter the customization interface but, instead, charge to finalize the customization. This is standard save for a subset of MMOs and I'd be very disappointed if Zeni were to charge up front.

I'd like to see Zeni include a package deal (i.e., something akin to BDO's 30 Day Customization Ticket) that would allow you an unlimited number of customizations across all characters, would finalize your customizations after X days. BDO's is relatively cheap compared to their one-time ticket. It would be a very welcome addition for those of us who look to always perfect, those of us with multiple alts.

I would be extremely disappointed if the barber shop launched without additional customization options. I'm OK with the possibility of additional customization being locked behind the Crown Store. That said, I'd like all customization to remain lore friendly.

I fear this too @TheShadowScout ... I really think they're just going to make a barbershop assistant.

I really hate the addition of assistants. It's not immersive and it makes no sense in context of The Narrative of the game.

It's just the way to "quickly" add features to ESO... and It's gotta be a hell of a lot easier and than adding Barber shops to different cities all across Tamriel.

I really think that the assistants are going to be what finally drives me away from ESO.

It's too much gamification for my tastes. They do not belong in an Elder Scrolls game.

And I know I'm in the minority on this. Most people want things to be easy. Most people want things to be handed to them and don't want to actually have to "play" the game.

I won't be surprised if at some point they add writ assistants, summonable dye stations, crafting stations, a stablemaster assistant... all sorts of things so you can stand in place click the mouse button and progress through the game.

What ESO really needs is an Auction Horse.

Sadly, that's all too true for all too many people! Not much of a surprise either if you consider how stupid the average person is, and then recall that fully half of them are stupider then that... ;)

And all too many people playing an MMO focus too much on the goal they want to reach instead of realizing these games are not supposed to be fun in getting the crappy loot drop after the goal is reached, but they are supposed to be fun -getting there-; enjoying the whole road and not just the finish line. Of course, the ones who only enjoy the goal tend to wander off to other MMOs after reaching it more often then not... and/or then complain on the forums, first that the goal takes too much time to reach, snd then when that gets changed, that the game does not have "anything to do" anymore...

But be that as it may, I still hope they would do better then making an "barbershop assistant", but hey... if they did it that way, at least I'd get the feature... though I would have wished that they'd make these assistant at least somewhat lore-conforming by making them special "summonables", as in... not humans which generally cannot be summoned per se, but daedra or somesuch, who can on occasion be "summoned by a Mortal". Wouldn't mind calling upon Clavicus Vile with a wish for an improved character appereance after all... ;)

I feel the best way to do this is to not over complicate it. Have a "barber shop" in each faction. Charge either crowns or gold (I could care less which). Purchasing the barber shop service should let you go through and tweak and change your character's appearance including race, skin color, and gender. I don't know many people who will be willing to pay money to only be able to change hairstyles around. The community asked for this because of the racial imbalance in game rn

At the core I think it should be as simple as...
    • visit barber
    • pay gold to change features
    • visit crown store
    • pay crowns to buy new features

    This

Please DO NOT tie it in with a guild questline (like the Dark Brotherhood, which I have no interest whatsoever in playing)...

Great post but I wouldn't mind the barber shop just being a barber shop without the continuous lore and story behind it all.

I mean, adding a skill line for this is great and all. But I just want to get a haircut and be on my way with other things...

It would be cool to unlock/find new styles throughout tamriel though. Just like finding new motifs around.

So it is more important to get a BARBERSHOP implemented, rather then the much needed Guild UI improvements, additions, and changes? What about player housing? Guild Halls? Any number of PvP improvements? How about fixing the LAG in Cyrodiil?

Really? Is this what my subscription now funds?

Color treatments, hair extensions, weaves, and perms for all! YAY!!!

Please tell me this isn't so....

Everyone has their priorities and the guild UI is not top of the list for many players. Most players do not really care about the guild UI but the barber shop can touch everyone's interests.

how about some Khal Drogo-esque hair and beard? like so... http://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/gameofthrones/images/1/1f/Drogo_1x01b.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20110626031733

would also love to see some pastel colour options, like blues and purples. I think that would suit a sorcerer. Just a wider variety of hair styles would be awesome.

I would also love the ability to go back and re-adjust bone structure.

any news about it? I didn't see anything about it in the DB preview...
will we wait for ever for this to be implemented?
I have a lv 35 char that I don't like how he looks, even tough it has taken me around 2 months to get there (I don't get to play much everyday) I would prefer to just change his appearance instead of starting over but if it willl never happen I should better make a new char...

Needs to be waaaay more than just hair and tats. If it's just hair and tats there'll be a lot of disappointment. Needs full face and body customisation too. Facial features, body shape, height, skin colour etc.

the mechanism to set all of the that already exists, it would make sens to allow a full re-do.

I hate the way a character looks different in game sometime from how they appeared in the creator.

a question, why is the anniversary cake chef npc hair not available as a style? it's a pretty regular and well made style. the model is already done, and I'm sure many people would enjoy it. why not have is as a new hairstyle? i'd get it in no time. I've been waiting for a similar style for quite a while, and I was very dissapointed with the current new options.

Especially after how the departed Paul Sage went on about how they didn't have one yet because they wanted to make it "immersive" and part of the game in a meaningful, roleplay kind of way. So, like an actual barbershop you would have your character go to and an NPC barber (or mage for more "extreme makeovers!"). Instead we waited 3 years for, "Give us real cash and push this button." And then the offerings are really lackluster and hardly anything at all like what we've been asking for.
