How much emphasis do you put on collecting achievements?

@BlackguardBob well achievements differ, and people value them differently. Some achievements are community based or players create own achievements and goals for themselves.

I have some level 20 players in my guild, who care about exploring and doing everything, including obtaining and using all treasure maps on map, before they move on to next area to quest. Preferably they farm the treasure maps themselves, but if they can't after a certain amount of time, then they will try to buy them from other players.

I have a guildie who cares about how many achievement points he has eaerned compared to me. It's more for the sake of competition and less about the achievement points themselves. It's also why the game doesn't stop at achievement points, he also want to beat me in DPS, healing, & amount of champion points (despite the fact that we've both hit the cap and the extra champion points are useless).

We also have a small ritual in my guild, me and the old members follow it. Once we create new characters, we go to the location of the Clannfear boss in Auridon, undress and jump into the water - swim out to get the "Slaughtered" achievement (get killed by slaughtefish).
    - the undressing is purely to avoid armor repair costs, it has noooothing to do with us being absolute pervs ..none at all! o:)

14,935 Achievement points, so yes this has been part of my game focus. There have been a few achievements that I actively pursued, but only on my main. 100% in a few areas: Crafting, Character, Quests, Trophies, Dark Anchors, Exploration. This has become less important to me as more and more achievements have been added with DLC. Started to feel like a hamster wheel. Toughest to get BY FAR was all monster collectibles, and it doesn't come with a title. :'(

I wanted to work towards being a master crafter of everything but tbh I lost interest in all of my personal achievement goals when zo$ started selling the glass motif in the CS a week after release, just seemed pointless to bother working towards anything if everyone can just go buy it in the CS.

I mainly focus on achievements that give me titles, dyes or items. My current goal is to finish Cawell's gold and get the swanky helm.

Do when I feel like it. Not a huge priority. Makes the game have a different focus for me so shakes things up a little when necessary.

I'd really like something in between none at all and a fair amount.

I never focus on them just because I have time, but I occasionally use certain achievements as a kind of checklist to make sure I've actually completed an area. For example if I'm in a cave or public dungeon I'll do everything I come across and then check for achievements to let me know if I missed something like a boss that hadn't respawned when I passed through that room.

So it's not quite incidental, but definitely very low priority.

Once I finish the DB content, I'll be picking a new one to chase. It will probably be based on a color unlock or a silly title. The hardest part is that my achievement "street walker" is my sorc, which makes chasing the thiefcentric ones difficult. I only chase with him because he has so many and they aren't account wide. I guess it is an OCD flareup that I want his achievement bar to move further to the right.

@Lightninvash I get that, I'm really sorry you still don't have text chat on consoles.

I doubt I would have ever joined a guild, or done anything group related - if I were forced to use voice chat. I simply dislike being on teamspeak, or talking to people in a computer game - the game is much more immersive when I don't hear a male voice behind a cute female fluffy khajiit, or light female voice behind a male orc char >.<

I dont mind to join teamspeak for specific dungeons, if needed - if it's not needed, I prefer to keep to text chat.

@failkiwib16_ESO yeah it breaks immersion so I norm keep it off unless in pvp or a dungeon just to listen to what we are doing and act accordingly.

I did join a guild but we use a phone app to text chat haha. Then they all quit last September-October and now I have a guild bank to myself!! Tough I think I have like 14 items in it or less because all I do is walk around and wander aimlessly. Except for one of my chars. She hates mudcrabs so she tends to collect a lot of mats to refine for drew wax. lol

Depends on my day. Sometimes I try an get a few, other days I do not care about them at all. It goes in phases. I get super focused on it for a while, then it fades for a while, then it comes back, and so on.

You're missing out, the world bosses alone were done nicely (challenging) and the rest of the dlc is pretty decent.

Well many things are wrong in this game. I actually think about not buying the dark brotherhood too if this remain like that.

Ha, ha! Sounds like a fun guild. :) You know, I do all the stuff I can in ESO because I am a completionist. I read every book, go out of my way to find M'aiq the Liar and so forth. But it is not for the achievement I do this. I would try most stuff anyway. The achievement comes by accident or coincidentally or with the passage of time I'm my case. I was very surprised when I re-visited a dungeon and got the achievement for a Group Event when I was solo!. This kept happening to me when I was soling dungeons and the penny dropped that this was nothing to do with grouping up with other players. So there I was getting an achievement I didn't properly (but do now) understand.

As for the slaughter fish cheevo, well I got that about 5 minutes after I arrived on the starter island from the tutorial. I had no idea that could happen to me until it did and I burst out laughing when I got an achievement for what was really reckless and naïve behaviour on my part.

So you see, I tend to get achievements by accident that some of your guildies are going out of their way to get. Is all good. keep having fun. :)

I fell off a cliff somewhere and got an achievement for it. That happened so long ago that I can't remember where I was. Accidental achievements are the best achievements.

@Lightninvash oh god I can't even imagine using a phone app for that purpose. I mean I manually have to press all the buttons on my cell phone, because I don't trust the dictionary in it ...so every message would take me 5min to finish :p every casual conversation with me would end after 5 hours.

I feel old thinking about this topic now >.< *hides the grey hairs*

@BlackguardBob well my first time was kinda by accident too, along with my boyfriend and an ingame friend, near that Clannfear boss in Auridon. I remember we were chasing eachother ..when we got the achievement, we got a good laugh and that is why we hold the ritual there and initiate our new chars to be true achievement chasers :p

Maiq The Liar was probably the first achievement I cared deeply about. I remember that I promised myself to get that achievement by all costs and I was so happy when I got it... I haven't had any other achievement that has ment that much to me in the game yet.
..funny thing, I used to yell in all my guilds and zonechat whenever I found Maiq, and I waited 5-10min for people to get to him. That actually lead me in contact with a few people, that I consider some my best friends in the game now. We were guildies, but because of chasing that damned cat we became friends..

A fair amount on my main character, but my alts I dont bother chasing down every little corner of tamriel with.

i tend to be a completionist, but once I've done everything with one character it becomes far less important to me on others.

My main hadn't earned a single achievement in almost 2 months.

If there's a title or other vanity item that I really want, I'll go for it. Otherwise, I can't be bothered. I do earn a lot of achievements just doing what I want, but I don't do them for the achievement.

In all honesty, after the Cyrodill vendor Adhazabi Aba-Daro got introduced, achievements were the only incentive for me to go into veteran dungeons.

When I got the last of them (Elden Hollow Lurchers and City of Ash Colossi) I stopped doing them altogether.
I even got all IC dung achievements, but I occasionally go and do those two dungeons because I still don't have SPC and SM sets in perfect traits.

In any case, I will most probably soon be done with most of the achievements (at least the doable ones) and that will most likely spell the end of my ESO times.
Unless they actually provide incentive for me to play group dungeons again.
