Finally, Character Slots! But...

I doubt it will be that cheap, I just hope they don't price it up so high that I just straight up won't even consider getting them, like what happened with the Assistants, because I would really like to be able to get some more character slots, but I just can't justifying spending a butt-ton of money on them.

You can buy an upgrade to your bank space already for 1000 crowns. For 10 spaces. Not bad.

I would only do that if it's the very last two upgrades, doing it for the lower ranks is just folly.

Why is it folly to upgrade your bank slots with a lower level char?
It's account wide,so it is there for all characters. It isnt folly at all.Just preference.I prefer to pay 1000 crowns to upgrade my bank rather than to pay constantly raised pricing to do it ingame.I mean,at one point I had to pay 50,000g for just 10 slots. And that's a bit much for me.I did pay it due to not having any crowns at the moment, but I wont pay the even higher price next time. So,it's crown upgrades for me.

So you would pay 1000 Crowns when the bank upgrade costs 3300g?

Yes,because it is cheaper.Ingame, you dont pay just 33000 in gold.It keeps going up for every time you buy 10 slots. At first,it's 400g,then 2000g,then more and more as you go. I just paid 50,000 gold for my latest upgrade, but I really needed it for some things I want to keep.I didnt happen to have any more crowns at the time,so I just paid it ingame. I wont do it again.

I have bought the last few upgrades as well when bank account expansions were on sale - just for convenience reasons. It takes quite some time for a low level character to get that gold for the last few expansions. And time to play is a rare resource for me, so I used the offer of the sale - for bank space only.

If they're short of 5000 crowns I'll be surprised. More likely 10k per knowing ZOS.

in this case I would not even want to get a 2nd account anymore, I do not want to support such greediness any longer.

Edit: I really don't get why they are this way. Bethesda came out with 2 nice DLCs for Fallout 4, which are either super fun to play or really useful - one costs 10 bucks, the other 5 bucks. That is reasonable.

Yeah, same here. Got some crowns when they were on sale (plus my leftovers from sub) and got the last 4 bank upgrades. Totally worth it, compared to the in-game cost for those.

Their point was that the first few bank slot upgrades are extremely cheap from a gold perspective. There is no reason to pay 10 dollars for those first few slots. It makes a lot more sense to use the bank slot upgrades on the latter upgrades.

Yeah it isn't gonna be THAT cheap. I expect at least 2500 for 1 slot. After all they sold assistants for 5k each...

2,500 crowns is roughly $25. $25 can get you another copy of the entire game that comes with it's own 8 character slots. If a single character slot costs as much as the entire game these days, I won't buy any. I might even leave the game and spend my $25 on a game that doesn't treat me like a human pez dispenser, spitting up money.

OP has the right of it. These need to be affordable to appeal to impulse buyers, roleplayers, casual players, etc. If they make them extra expensive to curtail the people who might buy them for more mules, those people will still drop the money but on a new copy of the game. The aforementioned demographs will simply not buy them at all. Missed opportunity imo.

Continued greed can even cause, what you gave as an option as well - they might just not want to stay with the game, screw it, not spend any more time and money on this. This can happen, if they continue to p*iss off people with greed. I love the elder scrolls, but I do not have to play this game, I can play the other TES games more than I do now as well. Or spend my time with Fallout 4 or EVE or start playing the Witcher 3. I am sick and tired to have to deal with greed over and over again, there is a time, when I will just have enough of it and then I will just go and never look back.

Edit: I have done so with Archeage. Not because the game would be that bad, but because I was sick and tired of the incompetence and greediness of Trion.

This is what happened to me with STO. I loved the game, and for a long time I owned every ship in the game. Then they just went off the reservation. I'm convinced at this point that perfect world is a predatorily greedy company looking to bilk addicts for their weekly check, that or something more sinister like a Triad funded company used to launder their ill gotten cash. It is not that I can't afford the game, or even to pay a significant portion for the game, I just don't see any reason to do so. There's definitely a healthy balance. If it costs me more to play an MMO in one year than I would spend living it up for 2 weeks in Tahiti, the MMO probably isn't worth it.

With regard to standalone games, thanks to Steam Sales I'm loaded up on thousands of hours of games that I'll probably never get to, but they all look really cool. Its not like I don't have plenty of content to enjoy, in or out of an MMO. I think this factor is what a lot of developers are missing out on. There needs to be a healthy balance between selling the kitschy stuff, and just price gouging the hell out of the consumer over nonsense. I do think the DLC's are worth something though and they deserve to be paid for producing content, in fact that is probably the most important thing a game developer should be paid for. The other side of it is keeping the game fun and balanced. If they could just add in some longterm sandbox elements akin to SWG I'd also be really happy. I know they'll never be as open as a game like Eve online, but I really think there are ways they could offer us Vestiges some sandboxes with value.

Price of character slots in other MMO's I've played for comparison:

    SWTOR - $6.60~
    EQ2 - $10
    GW2 - $10
    Wildstar - <$5
    Neverwinter - 2 slots for $5

I would be okay with any of those prices. If they dropped at those prices, my better half and I would prob buy 5 slots each the day they became available. More than that and we probably won't buy any and we have been clamoring for them for a long time.

I don't see that ESO could ever be like EVE or even near to that freedom you have there. EVE is skill-driven, what is far better than level-driven. Alone the complexity of ship fittings and the huge amount of available options and ships. The highly flexible way to form fleets and build up organisations and empires in EVE, which have meaning and real impact on the world. The amazing real player-driven economy, player-driven corporations and alliances, player-owned systems and regions. In ESO we do not even have a house or any place to call our home. PvP in ESO is pointless with no impact on the world whatsoever. ESO is a level-gated themepark, not an open sandbox like EVE - I do not see, how ESO could be anything like EVE ever. And EVE will be around when ESO will be long dead and gone. Because their Devs care and are passionately developing their game. The are open and communicative, we know what is ahead and we have seen many Dev blogs with info about the upcoming content. Detailed information, not just a teaser like here. When the citadel expansion will be out, I will anyway spend more time in EVE again. It's spring now, the expansion is ahead and I got some really massive citadels to build.

I'm thinking of buying a second account but I was wondering... Is there a legit website that sells the digital download keys for as low as that? Amazon, greenmangaming, ESO store, Gamespot, Steam all sell for 59.99. I'm surprised it still sells for the price of when it was brand new...I expected it to drop in price like most games do by now.

I'm sure I can find the physical copy for low price but I was just wondering if I can just get digital keys somewhere legit for a low price, I did some searching through google and not having luck with trustworthy sites.

You have to wait for when it is on sale - of course Steam and so sell it for regular price - so that they can say "this is 70% off" on sale. AAA games are normally not on weekend sales and mid-week sales, they are mainly sold on holidays. i think with steam is to consider, that the only payment option to get crowns is then via steam account (if it is still that way), so you have to fund your steam account for that. I mean ro remember, that there were problems once with getting crowns, if you have bought the game on steam, but I don't know, if that is still the case. I bought mine directly from ZOS, when it was on sale, and it costed 22€ at that time.

You can get it for $13.66 from G2A. Or wait for a good sale elsewhere (probably still $20 or more though).

Alternately you can get a physical copy pretty cheap off eBay (which I did for one of my storage accounts).

Last I saw, which was last year, G2A was not on the list of resellers that ZOS recognizes. For digital downloads, this is important because if you purchase the game from a shady site, and the license key ends up being a stolen key (ie: purchased with a stolen credit card, etc) then ZOS could shut down the account. This actually happened about a year ago, and there is nothing to say that it won't happen again.

    Back on topic...

Most of the discussion in here seems to assume that they will be selling one slot at a time in the Crown Store. The "additional characters slots" comment in the First Look might be what amounts to a one-time purchase that will bring the account to a max number of slots. For example, they raise the max to 10 slots and sell 2 more slots in the store, or they raise it to 12 slots and sell 4 more slots in the store.

At this point, I have 5 vet characters, one lowbie for use with my family, and 2 mules. The crafting bags could free up the mules, so the only way I would buy character slots is if they are reasonable. 3000+ crowns would mean no new slots for me, personally. It's a choice each person has to make. If it was 1000, I'd definitely buy some. If it is 2000, it becomes iffy.

I will be really annoyed if it's more than 1.000 per slot. Seriously. If they want to make money on the crown shop they need to FILL IT UP with all the tings people have been BEGGING for on the thread they started just to ask us what we want...and yet have hardly fulfilled a single request while putting out thing after thing that no one asked for.

I think it should cost more for each extra slot you buy, just like bag and bank space. 1 more slot = 1k, the next slot will cost 2k, the next 3k...
