Healers, what's the most frustrating thing(s) you go through with every group?

DPS sucking and Tank sucking so you end up being main dps/tank and healer and carrying the group through the whole dungeon..

Or dps/tank ignoring the adds that stun/cc the healer over and over...really annoying..

Then get blamed for group whiping...

Two things: Ranged dps who is out of aoe heals and tunnel vision dps who ignore boss mechanics for gold key. (Nuking Nerien'eth for example)

    BUT

What really annoys me is the players who try fulfill 2 roles. Practically this is always the healers. Healers are there to heal, not dps. Do your job. I *hate* to see beams n sh*t coming out from healer.

    My motto is this:
Always focus on your own role 100%. Then, if the party performs badly, you get say that it was other peoples fault, because you did your own job. Being a jack of all trades and master of none is burden to the group.

I play 70% of the time as DPS on my mNB and 30% on my Templar healer. I think It is a lot more complicated than this.
When on my DPS i know that I am doing quite a bit of healing just by killing stuff. A lot of builds can provide a bit of group or self healing and it is quite nice.

I do agree though that the jesus beaming Templar is one freaking annoying as hell picture.I hate to see it as dps and I very rarely use it as a templar.. You want to provide minor sorcery? Ok cool, the nice spamable non channeled pretty cheap dawn's wrath abilities are over there. Unless in a trial or with pretty tight known group Jesus beam is out and it actually cuts my DPS when healing.

When healing I do quite a bit of dps though. Mainly Spear spamming and Reflecting light/LA weaving . It works nice enough and it also grant minor sorcery continuously.

Also as opposed to what others have said the spears are there for everyone unless otherwise stated . If you can get some benefit from synergiser and undaunted command be my guest. I know I will pick the idle spears when I'm dpsing because the templar should be able to keep them coming. I know I can .

Another point for templars. Repentance is not something you should use only if there is Stam DPS. It is a Skill that YOU SHOULD USE ALWAYS. Thanks for giving me the ability to block a few times in a fight on my mag builds.

What I hate when healing though is of course bad sorcs and generally dps with no AOE

OH. and I forgot. I hate it both on dps and heals.

Tanks that don't get a sniping move on. You are the guy that should charge.Charge ffs. I actually understand DPS going first instead of tank. I do it sometime just because the freaking tank decided to take a nap or alt tabbed to watch some pr*n in between pulls.

Tanks that charge 3 pulls ahead are also annoying and unfortunately most tanks are in these two categories.

DPS who constantly stand in red (because red is life, right? \o/ )

DPS who decides to play ring-around-the rosie on the boss, get in front of the boss and insta-die. Sure, the tank faced the boss away for no reason, yeah it's safe for you to go there. *sigh*

DPS getting tunnel-vision on boss and not taking out the mobs if needed.

DPS getting tunnel-vision once more (surprise!!) and not rezzing the other DPS mentioned at no. 1. I don't mind rezzing them myself one bit but then if I stop spamming heals they die.

Tank deciding to go full-DPS mode and losing aggro on the boss all the time. Look - if you can't pull if off, pls just stick to tanking?

Overconfidence or complete disregard for the fact it's a "group effort" that wipes the group, then you are blamed for not healing anyone. Kinda like you just stood there doing nothing. But of course you weren't.

During this clusterfrack time you were healing your rear-end off while everyone was running around arms flailing and ignoring every possible mechanic, jumping into every AoE death-pool, and seeing how far away they could get from you to test your ability to be everywhere at all times.

    Good times.

    The first thing I hate:

    - Players stating that I HAVE TO USE REPENTENCE (or any other spell). I'm mature enough to make my own build, and if I find that repentence is not suitable for my build, that mean I've a good reason for it. Now, we can of course have a debate about what's spell are better and so on, but maybe not in the Dungeon. Instead of instantly judging someone because of his spells, wait that this person play. AND THEN complain if the job is not done properly. Not BEFORE
    - People that RUSH. I hate rush. I like enjoying the content.
    - Poeple that use EXPLOIT, and not only believe that it's fine to use that strategy, but also that everyone know that strategy. And then when you try to play the "normal way" they are like "you didn't know that you had to stack in this corner, and wait for the boss to bug?"
    - When there is no one to heal and i'm forced to do "DPS" to do something.

I usually prefer to play with newbie players than elitist players for those reasons. I prefer to wipe and struggle in a fight because players make mistakes than to have know-it-all ruining my fun, imposing their own vision of how you should play, and abusing exploits and methods to play as fast as possible.

I'm not doing Dungeons to farm gear, CP, XP, or gold. I'm going in Dungeons because I enjoy to do Dungeons and to heal poeple. I enjoy a real challenge. And as healer, I enjoy to heal. So I don't mind DPS to stand in the fire and tank to be squishy. That allow me to shine at my role.

but not to worry, i'm usually not pugging, so you will not be grouped with me by mistake.

Never see this on PC (EU, DC). A comment is rarely made on the/about a non-Templar healer, must be a console thing.

I doubt it is a console thing more like an idiot thing. The group I run with does well enough with me as the healer (especially since I took the time to explain the mechanics of my main heals) they only have one or two oh *** moments regarding stamina but they usually recover. If you NEED shards then you have a problem.

When i get in a group through group finder, and the DPS keep dying because they stand in AoE.

So i tell them i cant heal them through one shot mechanics, and they need to move around to mitigate damage. Usually the response is good, but sometimes the DPS tell me its more important for them to keep dpsing.

Great. Thank you. This is the right attitude . The problem is that a lot of people that PUG think that people should support special snowflake, dime a dozen, non effective build that they enjoy. Enjoy your fun time with your friends. You are welcome to enjoy the snip out of it . If you PUG please come with a build that is effective for your role and focuses on the success of the run not on your RP or how much you like the graphics of Crystal blast.. I think not wasting peoples time is the courteous .non selfish thing to do. PUGs should be for fast ,convenient, and efficient runs for people that do not have the time to find or wait for their usual guild groups.

It is however fortunate that there are quite a bit of people that respect peoples time and PUG on PC NA. Around 50% of all runs are very smooth if not going for COA,ICP,WGT.

Such a great thread. I think I noticed every healer issue that might be possible right now :-)

Let me add one thing maybe:

-Templar healers which take over a DD role but are lousy at the job and tell me - as the templar healer - the whole instance run in group chat, that I need to be a wandering BoL spamming buff bot, whose only duty is to spam BoL, repentance, siphon spirit and shards, but not realizing that without my dps the Netch adds in Fungus Cavern would have eaten us.

PS: One hint maybe....if your main heal in groups is BoL in PvE and you need to spam it to keep them alive and others want to change you into a walking buff bot, it's about time to get a new group. There is a world of good players waiting behind the curtain, where you are able to have real fun as a healer and where you are able to work down the whole healer-to-do-list:

    -don't die
    -heal
    -buffs and support
    -dps

I run a group with three nightblades (2 magicka DD, 1 tank) as a templar and a nightblade healer, all of them superb players. It's unbelievable how much fun you are able to have as a healer, if people play the game as it is supposed to be played. All heals I need are Healing Ward (oh *** heal), Mutagen and Siphon Spirit, for some encounters I get circles on my bar. Rest is self protection (light armor shield), support and dps (5k-10k dps, or even more, depends on boss).

This shows that you don't understand the healer role in ESO at all. If your healer isn't contributing to the group DPS, your healer is doing it wrong, pure and simple. There are loads of attack skills that have support components (providing buffs to group members and such), and a good healer will use at least one or two of them. Aside from that, a good healer doesn't waste resources on over-healing (well, unless he's taking advantage of that one set that gives bonuses for over-healing), so when healing isn't needed and any buffs don't need to be refreshed yet, the healer should be throwing out attacks instead of just standing there like an idiot doing nothing. Sometimes these attacks will be skills (which, as already mentioned, may provide buffs as well), sometimes they'll be resto staff heavy attacks that restore the healer's magicka (and, incidentally, also provide a heal to a nearby ally), but either way if your healer isn't throwing out attacks when his heals aren't needed, then your healer has no idea what he's doing.

    having a dragon knight dps.

DK has to be worst class right now.

I have seen some stamplars put out massive damage.

    squishy nightblades.

people who refuse to join group chat (ps4) you need to at least listen for bosses

I cant stand getting rolled over by some stupid warlock in pvp. just why cant templars win anything in pvp.

templars need a dps buff and maybe a heal nerf to balance.

self sustain people! me doing no dps because i have to spam BOL the whole raid is boring AF.

    GET VIGOR YOU NIGHTBLADES

I ran with someone in a DPS magicka DK in vCoA just recently, we did it under 20minutes, because of that magicka DK. The only death we had was because of me (the healer), when we skipped the ads at the beginning of the pledge and we had to jump to that waterfall. Other than that he (and the other dps) killed the bosses even before they can do anything-- Valkyn Skoria can't even complete his dialogues. lol.

I'm well aware that DKs aren't the strongest DPS class, not to mention they have been nerfed badly this time, but in capable hands, I'd say DKs are awesome.

To answer the OP, what annoys me as a healer, is not much about people standing in read circles, or low dps, or tanks not taunting, it's when people tell you "Where's the heal?" and blame you for their deaths, when there is no amount of healing anyone can do to help save their lives because they are not avoiding damage in the first place. I understand my role as a healer is to make sure everyone is alive (other than of course, the million other things I need to do as well, like making sure everyone is buffed, managing everyone's resources, etc), but as a dps or tank, you're also responsible to play smart. I will never blame a dps if they have low damage output or a tank that missed a taunt or two, I do my best to compensate. I'm not perfect, I make stupid mistakes too, but I don't go around blaming others for my death.

From all the comments above obviously if your team are ignoring mechanics or "trying" to die then thats not on you/healer but all the others comments about how "it's hard" or "im trying to support" or "im also doing dps" , dudes why? check your gear or your build sounds like a l2p issue.

Same as what others have said the person who stays in AoEs and makes no attempt to move and expects you to be their personal pocket healer. I can be a little more forgiving of tanks if they are otherwise doing their job but the DPS that run with less than 20k health and pull this stuff drive me crazy and are the reason why I am always apprehensive before the first fight with a PUG dungeon run.

I don't care if it is the tank or not I nag them to stay out of stupid regardless...and the tank I usually run with nags me to change my outfit all the time in return :p

    Squishy tanks.
Tanks that don't have a taunt so the boss ends up hating me more. I know some bosses do random jumps to players despite taunts, but I am talking about the rest of the time.
Players standing in the red, splitting up and out of range, and not waiting for me to be ready and get my Magick a back up so I can CONTINUE to heal.
DPS that Leroy Jenkins every damn room far ahead of the rest of the group....
