Old Mark actually allows you to deal bonus damage to targets.

It attacked the mitigation % instead of the Armor value, which meant that both you and your target dealt bonus damage to each other. Since as a Nightblade, you didn't have much mitigation anyway, this meant that the target would suffer from a loss of mitigation far more then you ever would. You were looking at round 30-40% bonus damage being dealt on both sides, as both you and your target would have negative mitigation %.

It allows for the famous 2.3k damage snipes in patch 1.4, and thus was the cornerstone of any archer build. And you needed every % of bonus damage back then to counteract the inmate gimpness of 1.4 stamina builds.

Hating on permablocking because you didnt know how to deal with it plus the fact that a light armor can tank because of synergies with class skills that you dont fully know/understand. Magicka had dominance in large scale close quarters combat while stamina had its dominance in ganking. NB class even with all it supposed bugs still had the best resource management making it one of if not the best class in pvp, also again ganking. Sorc were pretty much just negate bots(hardest class to 1vx with in 1.5 unless emp) and dmg dealers DKs being stronger. People forget templars were crazy strong just there were very few good ones like NBs that were willing to play outside the supposed class desgin in a game were you can go in any path. hmmmmmm. 6 target aoe cap with a dynamic ulti gen system is what saved the game from one guy wiping 40 without putting in some calculation that would destroy server performance. Builds will always look similar because people will use whatever is best currently.

Don't know that I agree with that assessment.

I also don't get the whole nostalgia with 1.5. If I recall I quit the game for 3 months in 1.5 because PvP was stale and boring.

There were things I liked more about 1.5 and things I liked less. I don't know if I'd say the game is getting worse or we're all just getting bored with it. I mean how million times can you press the same combination of 1-5/R and stay entertained?

Its true sorcs were strong but so were ever other class is more my point. You are right i was getting bored as hell already in 1.5 fighting the same fights everyday, but i still logged on because the game was good. We played for a year+ without no additions to pvp what so ever. 1.5 was just better the game would be better if they would have never changed it but added to it.

It's kind of sad that everyone is nostalgic about a game that is only 1.5 years old. I used to play MMOs for years at a time. Such a great genre just burning in a dumpster-fire of gaming abortions.

Funny thing is this game is better than plenty of those old MMOs. People just always want a new shiny. A strong community and this game would be amazing.

Does this thread imply PvP is dead? i was checking back every now and then in hopes for a return to the good days or at least close enough too.

Havent been able to play since sub model was dropped, just wasnt the same.

I doubt they see these threads. I think their moderators insulate them from most criticism. They don't have the time to always read the forums. That means its someones job to synthesize and summarize the forums for them.

This person has ample opportunity to insert their own biases and judgments into the reports, as well as shore up the walls of the echo chamber so that all is always well.

But on the other hand, I don't think we have done a good job as a PvP community in describing what we want from ZOS. It is too easy to become overly judgmental or angry. Our posts always have a tone of demanding action or harsh criticism. Justified yes, but helpful, no. It really shows in multiple aspects. We have community ambassadors but no one I distinctively recognize exclusively from the PvP community. They do read the forums and other sites, and because they do we have the game we have today.

We all agree it was the closest to balance we have seen. No one is arguing that tweaks were needed. But it was magicka dominant, not class dominant.

For all intensive purposes yes it's dead. Once this new grind wears off its done Imo. Great new titles coming soon. Players use to skip going out on weekends for this. Now check the action on Friday nights. She'll of former self. I remember counting the hours down on Fridays till I got out of work to play

Making up excuses with friends why I couldn't go out. Lol

A lot of things were better in 1.5, though solved quite a few issues as well. I was getting sick of being unable to solo any competent DKs because the sacrifices I made for my group/duo build. Unfortunately that patch did more wrong than right, but I still hoped ZOS might be able to correct some of the worst or simplest mistakes. Until that ESO Live show when they announced the changes to battle spirit in 2.1...

At one point this was literally one of the best games I had ever played, then it started going downhill a few months in. I still keep an eye on it though. Someday it will get better.

You can donate it to M4D. They did all the hard work organizing pugs (and still do today). As for me, I'm maxed out on gear until I start the vWGT grind for "Spell Power Cure".
