That makes no sense ... it would be the same as releasing a game on the console with no controler support but the Dev's saying "Oh you can play this game but you'll need a smart phone or tablet to do anything"

Actualy it would be basicly flipping a switch ... text chat was in the console version of ESO till they took it out just before the beta, they have all those UI set-ups & text chat assets just sitting around somewhere on one of thier servers.
They removed it for stupid reasons, the lead console UI dev gave this reason on ESO live as to why they took it out ..."it felt awkward sitting on a couch with a keyboard in my lap" .
Omg Dude really are you crazy it won't be even close to that easy or they would have just did it so this thread can stop popin up.Also they did not take it out before the beta you can't just switch out a build for a game by the snip.KF your fingers it had to be removed months before hand for it not to be their during console beta.
Yes text chat was in the console version of ESO & yes they removed it just before the beta ... proof
This is from a AMA about a month before the console beta FYI.Hi ESO. I have been looking forward to this game all year and can’t wait for it to become available on the PS4. I would like to know if Chatbox will be available on console versions, as it is on the PC? I am deaf myself so I would be relying on Chatbox to allow me to communicate with other people on the game.

Yes, you have the option of using the text chatbox on console as well. Furthermore, you can plug in a standard USB keyboard into your PS4 and use it to type, if you want.
The chat window collapses by default, but can be pinned to the HUD if you want.

That question was in response to a deaf person as well. The persons response? "Oh brilliant and thank you for your replied [sic]Looking forward to it now."
But hey its only one customer who paid £50 only to be crushingly disappointed by the most nonsensical decision in MMO history.

This is a terrible solution. A fix that requires the player to both leave the game and use 3rd party programs / websites in order to utilize the systems in the game is a failure of design, especially when those systems were 100% designed to be utilized from inside the game in the first place.
And most especially when there is already a version of the game that has been live for almost a year and half that requires no such bandaid fix.
While you may believe this to be a "reasonable" solution, many of use wholeheartedly disagree w/ such a sentiment.
How does picking up.your phone makes you leave the game?
If I'm typing on my phone, I'm most definitely not playing the game.

When the game was released for console, I bought it because my Laptop isn't "top of the line" and I enjoy this game better with a controller. On consol I don't have to run 2 additional programs to do so.Honestly though, what a mess. This is an MMO. One which has no way to speak to the masses. I love the game, I love the mechanics, but I mean seriously. How did this end up at the top of the list for decisions. I dropped $100 on the premium digital version for PS4 (save your harlte comments) and I got a dumbed down version of what I enjoyed on PC. It's not a problem to play the story mode without text chat, that's not an issue at all. However MMO portion of the game is close to impossible without either filtering through forums first in an attempt to find players to meet up with, or dealing with the horribly annoying proximity voice chat. I am all for voice chat. When I play FFXIV on console I run TeamSpeak3 through my android just for extreme primals and what not. However I still spend more time in the Console Chat Box, than I do talking. This proximity chat thing though. Horrible. I mostly hear super high Mic sensitivity blaring everything going on in a players house from all the way from horrible music, to arguing family members. I can't look for group for dungeons, I can't find out where the action is in Cyrodil or link up to wreak some havoc, I can't even look for a guild. This is an MMO, a social massive multilayer online game, with barely a way for the masses to be social. We need text chat.
Well said.
I think you should have the option to attack any other player in pve that annoys you in voice chat. I would pay 100k gold to wrecking blow them. My mic drops...on the ground can't stand the constant annoying players. Text chat would be a great option for the many that can buy a 5 dollar keyboard. They actually may be a buck at your local goodwill.

They actually said they have decided during development NOT to have text chat on consoles at all. They also stated its not being considered to be added. Then Gina and the other girl hosting said as always forum feedback is welcome.
2016-2017 is a possibility for Xbox One as native mouse and keyboard support come with the windows 10 update to Xbox one. As far as this game goes....if you watch the two ESO live shows again...they actually say it's not being considered.
It's why I keep posting that in these threads because for whatever reason their response to continue forum discussions and feedback was somehow misinterpreted that this is being considered.

No you don't as they've already responded twice.
I'd say it's best to keep discussing it amongst other players and see what Sony does with the Playstation 4 as you'd likely need both consoles to have mouse and keyboard native gaming support first.
Just because the Xbox one is adding mouse and keyboard support doesn't and shouldn't conclude that Zenimax has interest in doing so. Also...to date no Xbox One games are being changed or marketed to include such support. This is right now a feature targeted for playing games from the PC that can be played with Xbox one console versions of the game like Gigantic (MMO game to release soon with PC and Xbox one servers)

Wrong, the only way they'll ever learn is if we keep asking for it therefore nothing will change.
You don't need KB and Mouse for it to work, they can EASILY implement it with the controller like MMO's. That is also a terrible excuse as people have figured out how to manage Chatboxes with the controller they already made the whole game compatible.

Im not trying to argue here...what has been decided by Zenimax has been decided and stated as such.
If it's not to your liking the. Expressing it is fine but pestering any topic until it's changed to your liking often times may cause you more grief and in the end from what we've seen from Zenimax tend to produce ambiguous statements that people feel lead on to later learn the company had no intention of changing from the start.
This specific topic is a perfect example where ONLY on a PS4 website article/Forum was it suggested that text chat was a part of development for the console version. During BETA we saw the reality was it was scrapped. A week before release they shared it was removed way back during original development and was never planned to release on console.
Here is another thread of a person's summary of one ESO live. They don't include other QnA where text chat was also addressed but it does have one part of the conversation: http://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/177122/devs-response-to-no-text-chat-on-console-version

Wrong, you're trying to dissuade people not to talk about it.
Okay if Zenimax won't listen then we need to keep asking them to add it.
Oh and it's hilarious Zenimax is acting like it's impossible to implement Text Chat on consoles in an MMO, it's been done before and needs to happen.

Go back and read my edits above please...but again...I'm not trying to argue with you

2016-2017 is a possibility for Xbox One as native mouse and keyboard support come with the windows 10 update to Xbox one. As far as this game goes....if you watch the two ESO live shows again...they actually say it's not being considered.
It's why I keep posting that in these threads because for whatever reason their response to continue forum discussions and feedback was somehow misinterpreted that this is being considered.
well then we just need to keep asking.

Sorry if you were misinformed but nothing I've shared above is new info or at least shouldn't be.
Also, if the information kills your hope then it suggests you were lacking information on the subject but as to how it's dissenting opinions(the information I've shared is off Zenimax statements).
If a company says No we've scrapped it and are not adding it....that's a fact
Me commenting that it's not coming anytime in 2015 isn't my opinion, it's what they've shared to date.
If there were conversations from Zenimax that they would even look into the subject then my comments would be highly opinionated but that's not the case. They've said what they landed on and how the game will work as far as communicating on console with only one adjustment which was the addition of radial pre-text. That was what was considered from the April beta complaints.
That's it...and now you've got me arguing....SMH

2016-2017 is a possibility for Xbox One as native mouse and keyboard support come with the windows 10 update to Xbox one. As far as this game goes....if you watch the two ESO live shows again...they actually say it's not being considered.
It's why I keep posting that in these threads because for whatever reason their response to continue forum discussions and feedback was somehow misinterpreted that this is being considered.
well then we just need to keep asking.
Go back and read my edits above please...but again...I'm not trying to argue with you
Just going off the facts and statements Zenimax has shared to date. Nothing has changed
Not trying to argue but gives dissenting opinions. sure.
What opinions....please go read the articles and threads in my links above.
Then that is why we need to keep asking Zenimax.
Radial Pretext won't solve anything, what if I want to talk to my Guild Mates while i'm chatting with other people? Or talking to others? It's just much more convenient to have both.
And yes you have been giving Dissenting Opinions.
^^
All of your last comment is 100% opinionated. That opinion is shared with many on this topic but just remember it's your opinion and others who support the subject of this thread that a text chat feature should be added.
Also keep in mind there is another large group who is just fine with what isn't there on the screen.
It's our opinions that we are discussing only.
Don't confuse your opinions or any one else's whether they agree or disagree with factual statements from Zenimax on the subject.
Wrong it's not 100% opinionated, The Pro's of adding Text Chat far outways the cons and there are OPTIONS to appease both Sides, THAT is a FACT not an OPINION.
All I'm trying to share is to those who may be uniformed....Zenimax is not considering this and has shared that.
And that is why I said we need to keep on bring the problem up to Zenimax.
And it is a fact you've been giving dissenting opinions. Not an opinion.
^^^this is 100%
Opinion-
a view or judgment formed about something, not necessarily based on fact or knowledge.
"I'm writing to voice my opinion on an issue of great importance"
synonyms: belief, judgment, thought(s), (way of) thinking, mind, (point of) view, viewpoint, outlook, attitude, stance, position, perspective, persuasion, standpoint; More
the beliefs or views of a large number or majority of people about a particular thing.
"the changing climate of opinion"
an estimation of the quality or worth of someone or something.
"I had a higher opinion of myself than I deserved"
The game will crash and burn then...
Because they failed to add a fundamental part of any mmo... Oh well i really wanted to play this on my console.. And i shan't be returning to it on PC.
Also you can already use a keyboard and mouse on both xbox one and ps4.... I already use it. And mouse and keyboard on FF ARR....

You may be right but MY opinion is the game will not crash and burn due to text chat. The consoles have more active players than PC which could be an argument against adding text chat.
Let's be honest...the PC gets updates first, has add-on support, customized controls, AND as you all desire...Text chat
All that but still far less active players (*based on what is reported)
Only time will tell but the game IF it falls apart will be more so due to lack of content and a terrible endgame concept rather than any decisions on how communication occurs.
Not sure if anybody has mentioned Warframe's text chat, but it works pretty flawlessly.
& for those that like a cleaner UI, implement an option to hide it, but assign it to a different key to open it.

The PC has already been out for a year or more, of course the Active Playerbase is not as high on Consoles.Only time will tell but the game IF it falls apart will be more so due to lack of content and a terrible endgame concept rather than any decisions on how communication occurs.
Communication is a very important tool for endgame users. How they're handling it, IS very poor. Letalone people who want to RP, but now they can't. In fact people might lose interest due to how unsocial ESO is, MMO's THRIVE on making people stay. If they want people to stay then Adding Text chat is one major thing they need to add before.
ESO is by far the most unsocial MMO on Consoles yet and or ever made. FFXI even on the PS2 had KB support. The Excuses made by Zenimax so far are hilarious.
It may not be the only factor as to why ESO fails, but it will be a big one people will keep on talking about.
One of the biggest Draws in MMO is being SOCIAL and also ROLEPLAYING, some people have met others IRL due to MMO's. Having only Voice Chat completely Ruins that Social Atmosphere and the RolePlay atmosphere. You don't hear people SCREAMING in the streets in WoW.
Of course, because other developers Objectively Handled MMO's Social Aspects as well as UI much better then these obnoxious developers.......this is all based on your interpretation and maybe false expectations. You're using other developers and other games from a similar genre to create your "OPINION" on the subject.
Ahhh yes, OFFICIAL study, this is why MMO's have servers dedicated for Role Players. And is a Known Common thing as to what people do in MMO's.Now if there is some official study from a reputable source who has proven any of your opinions, maybe it's worth typing that into the thread and cite and references those statements.
Of course, because they Objectively handled things better in the same genre. But what you're doing is creating an argument to add a feature based off you and others opinions that are soley influenced by other MMO games you've played.
No they clearly haven't.Zenimax has outlined and shared their vision of what they want TESO to look like, how it played and how communication should occur for both console and PC. They've heard feedback and observations from the community and based their decisions off their vision and goals but have included player feedback which gives us what we have today.
Sorry a ChatBox is not just a feature, it's part of the MMORPG genre so are damage numbers. Again having OPTIONS Available will solve everything. We all have features that we would like to be added or things that we hope could be changed but everyone has a different mix and idea. Regarding this topic, some want text chat so they can link items to make trading easier. Some don't want to hear other people's voices while playing, some may have language barriers, some want to be able to party chat outside the game and text chat inside the game, some feel one form of communication is better than another, etc.
The Companies direction is WRONG and Flawed. They are being Obnoxious. They will go down in INFAMY as being one of the most Obnoxious if not then one of the most Ignorant. But they already Kind of did that to themselves when they first launched. I guess History Will repeat itself if they don't change. While those may all be valid in the person's eyes, Zenimax feels otherwise. If your goal is to get Zenimax's attention then first take time to understand the companies direction. Ask more about the direction they want to take the game. Research where the folks they bring on ESO Live come from so you fully "get it".
Then have conversations with Zenimax rather than threads full of comments complaining about yet another thing.
Understand, this subject isn't game breaking or causing any problems so it's purely a "want" and not a "need".
Text Chat was already in BETA.Adding text chat will involve redoing the entire UI for console. It took them over a year to get a console UI and other functionalities in place to release on console. Expect at least half that time IF this subject is ever considered. That's based on ESO Live segments when they try and communicate what it takes to make changes in the game (the underwater swimming idea topic)
