How many people do you need for a vet dungeon? 4?
You are in a guild of 50 or more and you can't pull four bros to run it?
Maybe its not voice chat.
Also try running a healer. Everyone wants to DPS. So if you run a healer maybe you'll get invited to the shin dig.
I've got a core group of guys and many other players who will run em when we want to get our faces melted, lol.
The people in voice chat when you are on are likely playing at the same time regularly. The voice chat has a nice way of grouping British night owls with Yankee after workers.
And PS. Try to be less condescending. Playing ultima online doesn't make you good at anything but being old, take it from a. BBS player. Skeet doop. Scrunchh scrunch beep. Oh dial up how I've missed you.
I never played ultima nice try as I've explained before I'm a console gamer that has played the mmos that have been available. You said earlier in this thread this was your first proper mmo . I'm not talking about 4 man vet dungeons either i mean the 12 and 24 man variety finding the specific roles needed at the same level wanting to run em at the same time . No need to explain the intricacies of playing a role to me I'm quite experienced with tanking and healing tyvm are you?

Uh yeah its not rocket science or some secret art.
Oh you tank? I think you mean you let the boss beat on you like you owe it money.
Oh you are a healer? I think you mean you facilitate health care for players inside your group as long as they are in your network and have enrolled during the open enrollment period.
Oh you are DPS? I guess you weren't creative or cunning enough to handle the above professions, so just press the attack button over and over until something dies. No I don't mean your will to live.
Question. What is it about MMOs that people think are so mysterious?
MMOs are just RPGs with all the fun stretched thinner and the mob grinding is turned up to 11.
I do like this game because it doesn't lean so heavily on that stuff at first.
And voice chat has been ace in our PvP guild. We are wrecking face. The main channel is tac come, the other channels are random debates, and technical discussions.
Again, this is just a game. I have an opinion about it. You have a different one.
As it stands this is just a discussion, ( one in which I support the prevailing and dominant opinion that text chat is unneeded.)

So your solution is to require players to have/buy a smart phone or tablet, which can cost more than the console they are playing on just to use a basic feature included ingame on every other MMORPG (both PC & console) ?
Really now This is something you can just Google yourself Majority of Americans now a days have a smart phone or tablet so they won't have to go out of their way to buy a new one. They can also make a website for you so call real MMO players can use your PC aswell for Text chat. Also this is a better solution that gives both sides what they want.If you want text chat you would have it if you don't you don't have to use the app or see it on screen.ZOS can make it .99¢ and make some money off of it that's the only way they will probably do it.
This is a terrible solution. A fix that requires the player to both leave the game and use 3rd party programs / websites in order to utilize the systems in the game is a failure of design, especially when those systems were 100% designed to be utilized from inside the game in the first place.
And most especially when there is already a version of the game that has been live for almost a year and half that requires no such bandaid fix.
While you may believe this to be a "reasonable" solution, many of use wholeheartedly disagree w/ such a sentiment.
How does picking up.your phone makes you leave the game?

If you're typing into the game on a keyboard, then yeah, you are playing the game. Disputing that just seems like being deliberately obtuse.
If your attention is removed entirely from the game and the screen to stare at a completely separate device that isn't bundled w/ your console, that you need to purchase separately and pay a completely separate monthly bill for usage, then you are NOT playing the game. You are playing on your phone.
And again, you don't need a keyboard. Many of us would probably use one for comfort / ease, but you absolutely do not need a physical keyboard to utilize an onscreen keyboard. I'm not even sure why you assume you would.
...or do you somehow plug a keyboard into your phone whenever you want to text for some reason?
Well....honestly, I couldn't handle a Ferrari - the roads are pretty dodgy in this part of the world (narrow, lots of bends and hills) - I'd probably wrap it around a lamppost or something.mrskinskull wrote: »You want a model t and we could have a Ferrari.
XBOX One supports smartglass. i believe the console may support USB keyboards. You can try chatting on a d-pad.
Some F2P titles on XBOX One support text chat.
If ESO is a success on consoles and other developers plan on releasing similar games on it.
Maybe MS will out a messenger pad like they did with the XBOX 360 platform.
Smartglass support and text chat for the XBOX One version may not hurt.
NewBlacksmurf wrote: »If that's how you feel about ZOS' responses and information on the topic that's fine but don't attribute your disagreement to me directly.
Certainly.
Link the quote where ZOS says that something like this won't happen until 2016 or 2017, or that any form of text-based communication is not being considered at this time, and I will very graciously attribute my disagreement w/ your words to ZOS instead of the person who wrote them.
Otherwise, that actually is something that you made up.

The "immersion" argument goes right out the window as soon as your realize that gamer tags are instead of character names.
Hell, even character names would probably ruin immersion given the amazing imagination I've seen on display in other games.

Zos has based the entire game around immersion. Phones arent very immersive...
