You can also ask what the player is selling with ohh my gosh your voice and then join a group with them and haggle with them their. Also trading on consoles won't work like that unless they completely change the way trading works, you have to be Infront of the player and then one of you have to click on the redial menu to trade with them.
ts not needed you can do everything in the game without text chat you all just choice not to use it.its not ZOS fault your anti-social and don't want to talk to people like normal human beings.
So you were lying when you said this:Sir I have read each and every post in thsi 61 page thread
Because nobody who had actually honestly read all of the posts where people have explained their reasons would come away with the idea that it's about being anti-social. Nor would they come away with the idea that voice chat is a solution to the issues raised in this thread.
So, you have not read each and every post in this thread.
Sir I am in no way lying I read each and every post in this now 63 page thread I was board and had nothing to do took up three hours of my team while I wàs out and about. You can not tell me my opinion is wrong when its my opinion. I stand by my original statement that you don't want to talk with people because. You will rather hide behind a keyboard and type a message Instead of having a conversation with a person using your Vocal cords. How is that being social many people have claimed that instead of talking to people most mute their mics and leave area chat or join a party by their selves instead of asking players to turn off their music or you can hear them breathing.
I also read each post where someone put up a valid reason agansit the implementation of text chat and they were ignored and told they were wrong with no proof to back it up.
So again Sir I have read each and every post and I have drawn to the conclusion that most would rather become anti-social and they wonder why they can't find a group to run a dungeon or PvP with.

As I pay the game I am continuing to see the major issues with leaving out such a basic mmo game feature. I was hesitantly in support of not having this feature in the beginning because hey throw them a bone let them try something different, but given the issues with the voip, grouping, trade, for chat, etc etc etc. Also who says being social is simple using your vocal chords as you have stated, typing a response is just as social. I guess all those deaf people signing instead of vocalizing, although some do, are anti social, stupid argument if i ever heard one. Maybe if everything else worked perfectly I might be for it but now not at all.

I have to wonder why the actual designers made the choice. Maybe tech stuff maybe design stuff.

Most have left, annoyed at being ignored. Talking in the guild or in area with 20 other people talking over you is such a poor design. Can't mute the mic, can't text chat.... Tired of asking for a dungeon and 10 kids replying "my sack needs a dungeon". Anyone who says text isn't needed isn't a real mmorpg person. Sorry, this isn't a single person rpg. Need a text chat box.
And I'm tired of the dudes that are pre-50 telling all of us text isn't needed. Anything pre-50 is technically not needed. It's the raids, dungeons and vet stuff that text is NEEDED.
64 pages later, ZOS still fails.

The fail was likely to have been when they decided via internal testing that the console user wouldn't like it due to it being cumbersome. I would have like to have known the test criteria for that, if it was to hold actual conversations at length then yea its would be crap; however.
/gchat LF1M - Heals - Tempest
Would be perfect to capture the 100 odd guildies who are spread between 5 different guild channels and/or PSN Party or Xbox Party chats.
But it was tested internally and clearly that right decision was made for us the end user, I mean guys your forgetting that this release had a lengthy delay to ensure all the issue and bugs were captured.

Wow didn't even think about that, what would you do if you were deaf? what would you do if you were deaf and BOUGHT the console version of the game?
PS hope you dont mind sharing your point of view on another forum:

Thank you for this precious advice - I wasn't able to assess my buying options till now.NewBlacksmurf wrote: »Soooo if you prefer text chat, buy for PC
If you prefer voice chat n controller, buy for console.
It's that simple
By the way, your contribution to this thread stopped being insightful after your 50th or so post. No need to continue repeating things you've already said many times - I've already read and evaluated your thoughts on the matter. Of course, If you have something new to add, I'd try to take it into account.

TL;DR: It should have become pretty obvious by now that the console version of this game simply doesn't work as intended without text chat. Core MMORPG features such as guilds, grouping, PvP coordination, trading, even roleplaying - all of them suffer due to poor player communication options.

Any post has become pointless after April 2015 on this topic....it's just ppl trolling
This is about the 16th thread after all those April threads were locked and or deleted
This thread only lives because ppl keep bumping it with no value and those that continue to argue back n forth.....points have been made, reasons to add and reasons not to add where both made sense in some circumstances but Zenimax has also responded
The thread continues....

Personally, I've been extremely pro text chat since before the console beta when it was first revealed by a correction that @ZOS_JasonLeavey made that it will only have voice chat. I think I predate Varicite on it, but I'm not entirely sure.
There's also the opposite side where NewBlackSmurf, defcon, and others has been against text chat since before the beta as well.
My point is that the determination and origin of when a person speaks about it is not important. What matters is pure numbers. I think. I'm still not sure ZoS has cared about this thread at all since page 8 or so.

Oh, yes, I,m sure there are multiple people on both sides. I pointed out to him because he's the OP and I remembered seeing him pretty much throughout the thread. What I meant is more in the lines of not giving up after all this time and still continues to persevere. You guys are also determined, I'm sure of it, I just didn't take time to pay attention to who did more than 3-4 posts.
That being said. I know the devs remain silent on the problem, but the more this thread keeps going, the less they can ignore it. I'm sick of people saying it's only a vocal minority repeating the same thing all the time, because those vocal people need to do it since a lot af players A: have no idea there is an official eso forum, B: don't come because it's just people bashing each other (which it is, just like every other mmo forum), or a multitude other reasons.
I talked to quite a few people in my guild and pretty much all of them agreed that text chat should be in, but I don't see them post here, partly because they don't like forums, but also because they don't have an english as good as mine (yeah, maybe you didn't realise it but english is not my first language). The french text chat thread exists, but it's not quite as active as this one. The point is if I don't see people of my guild post here, that means there is a lot of people who want text chat, but don't come here to say it, and for their sake, I'm glad that some people are holding hard to this.
text chat is absolutely missing in this game
there is no possibility to coordinate in pvp
also group finder doesnt work
please add text chat so we can find new players or coordinate attacks....
