I have to agree that we need text chat implemented into the console version of this game. I've only had the game about three weeks and I'm already getting sick of hearing nothing but abuse, shouting and other people's music when I'm in area chat. It's got to the point now that I just stay in PSN's party chat because I can't permanently turn the area chat off.
It would also be a lot easier to communicate with the members of my guild through text chat as well. Especially if I'm already in a group with friends, at least then I can just type in the text box instead of having to switch groups in voice chat.
I don't want voice chat. I don't want text chat. I don't want to communicate with any of you using anything other than grunts and imogies. Oh! And include me in your groups and factions and all that too!
Is that too much to ask?
Hrm, still no word then?
I haven't even thought about the game the last several days, just clearing out extraneous tabs now. I'm sure I'll soon be clearing out extraneous harddrive space on my console too. I guess they don't care, they already got my money.

I assume ZoS is not going to respond to this. Sorry console people (I have both) looks like nothing is coming for you by the non response to this.
The friends list is also completely broken making communicating and grouping even worse. I have 36 friends on the Xbox One Dashboard showing they are currently in the game. But in the "in-game" friends list it says I have 7 online out of 32. I then tried joining a friend through the Xbox Live "Join Friend" that is playing in the same zone, same faction and when the game loaded it said the person did not exist, even though they are actively playing.
Okay, I came here from a thread with a very good reason text chat should be in the console games: There are deaf players. There are players with speech impediments. There are players with social anxiety. There are players who are physically unable to use voice chat.
So saying it doesn't belong on consoles is saying these players do not belong in the game.

For whatever reason they left it out and it is one of the best selling console games available.
Oh wait a few months when everyone is endgame and can't form a group or even communicate people will crack up. The only reason people are Semi ok with it now is because 99% of people are solo questing... for now.
You may have a point. I still don't really miss it but I'm not vet level yet.
It just seems that by the time you are vet level how have you not joined a guild or made at least four tough friends.
In my circle I'm the last one left who isn't vet rank. I keep getting invited to run the dungeons tho.
Thanks for a sensible reply BTW. You might be the one reasonable poster in the thread.
Yea... Get to max level and then look up 'Trials' then come back and realize why you need text chat.

@Deltia seems to agree with us we need text chat!!! If you missed the lastest video here ya go

It seems like yes, text chat would help you gather people to play the trials, but those people you gather are going to be the role players, the bite trolls, the purple vendors, and the too shy for mic crowd.
I think I'd like. Twelve mics coordinating in the trial.
@Mirra_Halfelven - Thanks for the info, I did not know. Also thanks for the excuse to bump this now on page 3 thread.Mirra_Halfelven wrote: »Who? Seriously never once heard of them.Mirra_Halfelven wrote: »Deltia has finally spoke up about text chat on the consoles, he's not too pleased either ... now maybe ZOS will start addressing this
Really though, random "famous" people on youtube that no one cares about besides their fans won't have any impact on ZoS. They'll likely only listen to the big ones, Kotaku, IGN, Gamespot, those kinds of sites.

Actualy he's like the #1 ESO podcaster & pretty much the voice of the fan base ... ZOS has responded directly to him both on these forums but also on ESO live many times. Deltia's thread The Day ESO Dies ... has multipal responses from a number of ZOS Devs.

I don't see how chat box will save players. Good relationships with other players will save players. Voice chat forges these bonds faster and funnier. Its hard to rage at your buddy. But some random text chat invite? He's obviously the problem and reason YOU died, right?

Not that that detracts from PS needing a chat box.

I usually swoop in after two parties haggle and undercut the seller.
Yay capitalism. You can't haggle on a guild store over their over inflated prices.
I have no overhead costs or pushy guild leader. Even in text chat, its not as thrilling to listen to some over charger gripe as I force his prices down to normal[kmrskinskull wrote: »Adam_Chattaway wrote: »mrskinskull wrote: »I really don't miss text chat. I never really used it on defiance.

I don't think I'll have trouble getting people to play. I belong to several guilds and can easily gather people to play. I think by the time my groups are bored and leveled up and anxious to play the trials, the group will just begin work on those.
Time will tell. Just start making friends now and when you are leveled up, you will have all the trial mates you need. Just 12 right.
I've heard they're hard but I don't know why you'd want to do them with some keyboard cowboy try ping away while you need him to be tanking or Something. Of course its only my opinion.

I've already stated numerous times to ZoS that I refuse to buy any crowns or ESO Plus until text chat comes to consoles (no DLC for me in the meantime), and once/if it does the first thing I will do is buy $100 worth of crowns. They truly seem to not care. It's just not enough to have them notice. Now, if you went to $10,000 worth of crowns......fujikawa123 wrote: »Do u want money ZOS. I'll donate 100 bucks.
