Console text chat discussion

For sure. Many people( not me) will quit this game because of lacking of Text Chat. This will be the most stupid reason ever in MMORPG Signnnnn.....

yea im all for text chat. it would be 100x better. I mean right now im sure 90% of the people either have voice chat off or player voiced turned all the way down so its pointless to even try to chat on voice. and the other 10% that do use voice chat id say 5% of them are loud, talking to people IRL, blasting music, screaming babies, or chatting with 3-5 other people not in group chat for i dont have to listen to them talk and cuss about game stuff.

To be honest, that might be a good thing. Devs seem to be completely ignoring this thread, and mods are only stopping by just to ensure no flame wars spark and to edit posts. Having this thread locked so we can make new threads on this matter really might help.

Text chat is a must. with just voice there is almost no communication between players. An mmo with no communication is a broken game. I normally am all about supporting games I play and almost always pay for a sub on free to play games, but I don't support broken games and will not spend another cent on this game until text chat is in game. There are other issue with the game but none will be as sure to kill it as no communication.

You are KILLING guilds ZOS!
With the lack of chat box, its so difficult to communicate with your guild efficiently.
You can't send mass xbox messages, not everyone is in your guild, and everyone in your guild isn't on your friends list. You can't make parties larger than 8 people.
You mail function only works half the time.
The lack of a mail reply function, are you serious?
The "About Us" secton is limited to 240 characters (STUPID).

My guild is reaching 150 members, and I gotta tell you, the communication is a SERIOUS issue.
The amount of messages I receive via xbox is crazy!

The voice chat is dumb, you automatically get thrown into the first guild on your list, (if thats even working), but you can have 5 guilds? So you have to manually go and change channels every single time you log in. You don't have the option to set a "default" guild.

You guys really need to figure your stuff out guys.
My dream of a massive pvp oriented guild is quickly deteriorating. Its simply too much of a hassle.

There should be a text chat because...

Trading System requires yelling over the mic which aggravates alot of people and usually causes fights, sexual exploitation, and other nonsense when all traders want to do is sell some motifs.

Example:

Trader: Anybody wants a motif?
Anon: How much?
Trader: 45k
Anon: WHAT? Thats too much I'll give you 10k
Anon2: Hey *** motifs are worth 60k
Anon: No!
Anon3: Dude stop crying you f***ing baby and go get money
Anon: I'm not crying
Anon4: Get good at the game. This is how you play the game blah blah blah blah

For whatever reason they left it out and it is one of the best selling console games available.

Oh wait a few months when everyone is endgame and can't form a group or even communicate people will crack up. The only reason people are Semi ok with it now is because 99% of people are solo questing... for now.

It just seems that by the time you are vet level how have you not joined a guild or made at least four tough friends.

In my circle I'm the last one left who isn't vet rank. I keep getting invited to run the dungeons tho.

Yea... Get to max level and then look up 'Trials' then come back and realize why you need text chat.

I have a serious question I know some of you might take this as a troll question but am really serious here.What game are you guys playing? If its a alliance thing and all of you guys are in EP then that's understandable we are know their tons of Skyrim kiddies their just look at PVP 85% of EP populations are Nords.Am in DC and I have area chat on most of the time when am not in guild or group chat, and I haven't had any of the problems you guys have had or any of my friends saved 2 out of about 12 not including my main guild we have about 200-250 members and i talked to some on a regular basis at least 50 different guild members not counting my usually 24 PVP group.

So serious where are you guys getting your information from?Second are we playing the same game?Finally can you guys start a new thread 57 pages is insane for someone to read.

Anyways...I'll put my drama queen hat on....

I'm sad to say that my longevity with ESO is tied to having a text chat option. I like ESO...I really do, but honestly I'll go back to DCUO (some of the upcoming changes are looking reasonably interesting).

At the moment ESO is feeling like a single player game...sure I see others running about, but I'm not a massive mic user, and I usually leave area channels as soon as I hear some random's music blasting through.

Can we please at least have confirmation devs are still even looking at this thread? There have been dozens and dozens of comments saying ZoS is ignoring this thread, but considering that no ZoS member has responded to them, it's not encouraging.

Who? Seriously never once heard of them.
Really though, random "famous" people on youtube that no one cares about besides their fans won't have any impact on ZoS. They'll likely only listen to the big ones, Kotaku, IGN, Gamespot, those kinds of sites.

That doesnt surprise me if we're waiting another 6 months..

I may just wait till it's added then come back to try playing again.

Actualy he's like the #1 ESO podcaster & pretty much the voice of the fan base ... ZOS has responded directly to him both on these forums but also on ESO live many times. Deltia's thread The Day ESO Dies ... has multipal responses from a number of ZOS Devs.

Yea, Deltia has had multiple replies/responses on his channel and threads. He's helped the community in a number of ways. If you don't know who he is, search and read. If he's on board with the chat box, ZOS Wil be forced to look at it just for the sheer amount of publicity the subject is going to get.

Its good to see long time pc players taking interest in the console version rather then a us vs them mentallity.

I found the cyrodil performance difference interesting.

I usually dont make it passed the 2 minute mark on stuff like that but actually watched the entire thing.

I'm fairly sure if there is no chatbox when the majority of players get to endgame the game will die, I'm sure of it. Because then it will become more work than fun.

I have to agree that we need text chat implemented into the console version of this game. I've only had the game about three weeks and I'm already getting sick of hearing nothing but abuse, shouting and other people's music when I'm in area chat. It's got to the point now that I just stay in PSN's party chat because I can't permanently turn the area chat off.

It would also be a lot easier to communicate with the members of my guild through text chat as well. Especially if I'm already in a group with friends, at least then I can just type in the text box instead of having to switch groups in voice chat.
