Console text chat discussion

Dear Devs,

if you are working at any improvement of the communication-problem in this game AND it has something to do with new ways to communicate, THAN print it, scrunch it, toss it.

if some developer comes with a "great new idea" and "revolution in communicaten" than kick him out of the team.

JUST ADD TEXT CHAT LIKE IN ANY OTHER MMORPG!

We are tired here in Europe to use the public voice chat. And a MMORPG is not a "play with your guild or die"-Game!

I'd have thought this would be priority 1 for Zenimax to get into the game!

... but then, communication is NOT their strong suit is it.

Just casting my vote, please.. Text chat.

And character names instead of dumb gamer tags (i had no intention of being vader in tamriel) text chat "breaks" immersion far less than...

PFffxx69LOLdcf screaming DERP and other derp related things..

Area voice chat could be so cool... But its damn annoying 90% of the time

I also support damage/Healing/exp/AP/crit values being able to toggle on screen bc knowledge is power

I find it quite amazing that the devs think this game will match up to any other MMO without the text chat box. Have you even tried to play your own game without your friends online? Dude, you can't get a group or party for nothing you want to specifically do. Can't advertise what quest or specific dungeon, can't text for help with a group activity cause no one knows what activity you're planning. No communication is going to let lesser games like DCUO climb all over you.

So, it's like you developing and manufacturing Skyrim, and telling all your friends about it.... but not advertising it. No billboards, no TV ads, no nothing.... just by word of mouth. Yea, exactly. Don't limit this game, put in the text chat.

Wait....I'm a bit slow on the uptake sometimes, but am I right in thinking that PC have text but no voice chat, and PS has voice but no text chat?

Dear god....I hate to say it, but DCUO is looking more attractive for socializing and such

You got it right.
However, Voice-Chat is being added to PC...but, ZOS won't even comment in this thread/forum if Text-Chat will ever be added to console.

i seriously thought about re-dling DCUO last night for 1st time since i got my ps4 just to be able to run content for once instead of freaking out along with a few friends on how noone can get groups together for dungeons in ESO. Seriously ZOS it is ridiculous trying to run gorup content without being able to form groups with text. On DCUO you can have the LFG text chat up and see 100s of groups formed every hour. MOst gamers these days have different schedules and want to meet and run with as many people as possible. In DCUo i can sit in my player housing and join raid after raid after riad until i'm cooked. i can't even imagine trying to form Trial runs for this game on console. what an impossoble chore you've made of the most common mmo activities. SMFH, this is killing the game one month in.

Have you been on since stat flattening? Apparently LFG is drying up as people avoid running content in pugs and stick to leagues (especially for anything below T7).

I really hope a dev doesn't come here and give us the whole "immersion" thing. So no chat box that would make the game better, but you force us to use PSN tags and not our role playing names? Nothing like immersion in a dungeon, with the tank "xXlolheadshot" leading us through enemies. Yea, hold up, let me finish this quest with "codSNIPER_DIE" and I'll be back. ...... immersion. Wow. Give us the chat box, dudes.

The higher level I get, no text chat is becoming more and more of a problem for me and to be honest is ruining my enjoyment for the game. So hard to get groups even with the group finder(seems very broken to me). Zone/Guild chat like the PC version would be so useful for organising things.

Voicechat can be very useful, especially in group dungeons etc, but most of the time I turn guild/area off, due to open mics etc becoming very annoying, much more immersion breaking than a chat box for sure.

Can we please get any confirmation from Zenimax if they are planning to add this or not? As I personally cannot see me playing longterm with no Chat to organise!

The demand is there, enable the chat box to be minimised/hidden so it won't interfere for players who do not wish to use this.

This is meant to be a social game after all....

Oh wait a few months when everyone is endgame and can't form a group or even communicate people will crack up. The only reason people are Semi ok with it now is because 99% of people are solo questing... for now.

Dcuo is trash. Used to be great and was in the drivers seat until stat flattening and money hungry devs took the reigns and showed their true color (green). Eso is far superior except the text chat being nonexistant and the lfg. Dcuo got those two right perfectly. Those two things make up what I need to continue playing eso. As is, I haven't logged on in weeks and never will until they add chat and fix the que system. Is it really that hard to warp a group to the instance the second it forms?

I haven't played DCUO in awhile, what did the devs do?

Around and as part of GU47, stat flattening, currency unification and content relevancy were introduced.

There is now one PvE currency (Marks of Victory) for all content, and gear costs are reasonably standard (with minor variations)...for example a chest is 60ish MoVs....doesn't matter if it's T4 or T7.

That was offset by "relevancy" meaning you only get marks from content within specific bands - so T7 cannot get marks for running T5 content etc.

Stat flattening is more about scaling....no more stats increasing by insane numbers each tier. And damage taken / dealt also scales...the lower your CR compared to the NPC, the more damage you take and the less you deal....the closer you get to their CR, the more damage you deal and the less you take.

Sadly the devs kinda screwed up T4 (and some other instances...such as the T3 alerts)...the NPCs are way to tough. At level, you may as well forget about running some content...and even if you're well over-geared, you best be expecting to be in the instance for a long time. For example I used to be able to walk into Trigon's Prision (T5 alert) at T6....and faceroll it in about 10 minutes. There's no way that happens now...the first NPCs you come across wipe the floor with me.

unrelated: any chance "drift" means anything to you?

the reason they are not adding text on console is because of the gold farmers spamming chat, and the botting trains u see on PC, they also will destroy the ingame market.

How would people bot on console? I Don't think it would be profitable for them as Sony/Microsoft can Mac ID ban consoles for using hacks on Fps games i would assume the same goes for bots effectively turning their consoles into expensive paperweight's.

To be honest, that might be a good thing. Devs seem to be completely ignoring this thread, and mods are only stopping by just to ensure no flame wars spark and to edit posts. Having this thread locked so we can make new threads on this matter really might help.
