Yep, just click the chevron in the corner and it minimizes.
Also, I agree about the mean-spirited posts. They aren't helping to advance anyone's side of this debate, as there aren't going to be any "winners". Just discussion.
Minimizes or vanishes? Like completely gone right? Not some minimized windows rectangle?
And do players get mad if you ignore their coins because the text box is closed? Is that a thing?
I hope not.

But a big hairy Nord warrior talking to his mom in a squeeky 12 year old's voice and an American accent helps with the immersion?
Not when I turn voice chat off.
But having a big huge wall of text filled with nothing but spam that obscures my screen when playing ESO. Yea. That does destroy my immersion. "Join my clan the Ablitoraters we are best ever", "I'm selling X and X for X amount of gold", etc. That is what text chat will be spammed with nonstop.
Hearing a voice is natural. Big block of text obscuring the screen like watching a news show with ticker scrolling across the screen not my idea of enjoyment or use of space.

Thats kind of concerning that these points where bought up to zenimax before the launch especially the accessibility issues and they did not seem to care.
It's a bit late in the day for you to complaining about the tone, given your earlier posts in this thread.mrskinskull wrote: »Your aggressiveness is kind of working against you, IMO. You both disagree and the case for both has been stated here by both sides. If zos does implement the text chat, I'm sure they will do it in such a way as to keep both crowds happy. So let's just agree to disagree.
The debate was fine. The argument is grating. The mean posts are not helpful.
The cool thing about this game is that there are many ways to do it. None are wrong. You shouldn't be mean to other posters just because they don't agree with you.
None of us has a magic wand to make zos choose one way or the other.
Obviously text chat is on the PC version so someone at zos likes it more than not.
Quick question, can the PC text chat box be hidden completely?
Hi everyone, as there are several threads on this topic, we are consolidating the discussion of console text chat into this thread. Please remember that it’s fine to debate, disagree, or be critical – but it’s important to keep your posts civil and constructive, and to always abide by the forum rules.

I haven't had a chance to watch it yet..

You think that adding MORE voice channels on an X-Box Live game is going to HELP?
Have you ever listened to an X-Box Live voice chat?

They didn't do the questions section this week.
They just had that PvP guy answering PvP question...from what I have read.

Awful convenient.
A huge amount of the community is up in arms over this point, about half the threads on the console version end up turning to the lack of text chat as the crux of the problem. A lot of the As Us Anything thread is asking about text chat (good idea, keep it up), it's just everywhere and they're ignoring it as hard as they can. It's like trying to call your cat from across the room, you see those ears moving but they're looking anywhere but at you.

At this point I wonder if that's well disciplined silence or maybe this thread is tilting at windmills?
I'm new to the community so maybe this kind of thread, warts and all, gets stuff done so I dont know.
I'm happy for stealing stuff and thieves refuge, was that update fueled by this in the face of a lot of developer silence?
Maybe they just really want to surprise the console Text chat community, I hope that's all it is.
Best of luck with your endeavor.
I've gone back to FFXIV. That game is vastly superior in every meaning of the word.
Party finder works wonders,
Guilds aren't pointless
Trade actually means something.
Dungeons aren't boring.
Post game isn't just a grind
And oh.
There's actually a community, you don't feel isolated in an mmo environment.
Don't want to listen to people on Mic? You dont need too!
I couldn't even get to level 50 or finish the story, it's so painfully boring and you can't make friends like you can in other mmo's like warframe or Realm reborn.
Eso would have been cool on last gen, but it's poorly executed on current gen. It's competition just annihilates them.
