But a big hairy Nord warrior talking to his mom in a squeeky 12 year old's voice and an American accent helps with the immersion?
Not when I turn voice chat off.
But having a big huge wall of text filled with nothing but spam that obscures my screen when playing ESO. Yea. That does destroy my immersion. "Join my clan the Ablitoraters we are best ever", "I'm selling X and X for X amount of gold", etc. That is what text chat will be spammed with nonstop.
Hearing a voice is natural. Big block of text obscuring the screen like watching a news show with ticker scrolling across the screen not my idea of enjoyment or use of space.
So turn it off.

I say do it alone , just to shut you entitled gamers up. But next week, it be something else? It's a lose , lose situation with you guys.
You want text chat, go play on the PC. It's really that simple. Zenimax needs to be focusing on , more important things like new content aka dlc.
Then this "stupid chat" bs.

I'd love for you to elaborate on how dcuo went 100% toxic at f2p and how that relates to this discussion. I'm also a dcuo vet as are most of my guild. You throw the entitled word around yet it seems that you're the entitled one . You don't want it so nobody gets it? Seems entitled to me if you think you're desires are more important than anyone else's. Dcuo had a great simple chat system that could be minimized and customised . We even created a cross faction private chat for pre-made pvp . It became community standard . Pvp chat on eu and 5v5 chat on u s perhaps you heard of them . This game would sure use something similar to organize skirmishes vs other guilds

They've basically turned an MMO into a single player game.
I played console twice and couldn't handle the lack of coordination or socialization due to a lack of a real zone chat. Good luck with your guilds and dungeons with that epic lack of zone. Good luck with your pvp with the epic lack of any zone wide call outs (real important since the average pvper can't look at the map or use an add-on to see where stuff is happening.
But let's continue to beg and he continued to be ignored. The crown store is clearly more important.

It's kinda like cable tv, Dish, Direct tv, I am not a sports fan. But yet as a subscriber, I have to pay extra for channels I don't really care about. And since you want "text chat" so bad , you can literary taste it. I think YOU , should have to pay for it.
Again , the solution for legally deaf ppl is close captioning or sub titles. But for anyone to use that as a platform or excuse, that is so unethical. Unless your legally deaf.

That's one of the dumbest arguments against text chat I've ever seen. Congrats.

As long as it can be invisible if other players want it and if its already in the files and dissent subtract money from the funds used for PvP fixes, dlc development etc, I guess I really don't care if they add it or not.
Here's a thought though, in PvP when a castle is being Attacked or scroll is being taken, will the same people who ignore the giant flashing 'scroll has been stolen from x' also be ignoring the text chat instructions/ strategy?
I was also thinking about the viability of forming a server guild, and having every team style player join and then branch off in to tactical groups using the multiple channels and maybe getting coordinated by one guy maybe some one with strategy exp.
Then the commander swaps between the guild chat channels ordering quickly each squad.
Commander mode for eso. The commander might even be at the base using the map and spam recruiting fresh arrivals interested in giant battles.
Of course this is all just my opinion.

I have to say it...
I had gotten to the point of really considering using the "ignore" function on you...and I have never ignored a person, ever, in all my years of forums use.
I had thought that you were actually only posting against TC to "rile things up".
I must now admit...I was Wrong to think that.
Now, I just have to say Thank You.
You have done what many people cannot seem to do...admit that you made a mistake, and change your mind.
Thank You.

Do you get affected by people who have their helmet toggled on when you have your helmet toggled off? Are you affected by people who have a different camera zoom to you? Is your game experience affected by people who have a different brightness setting to you? You people (a tiny minority) have yet to give a valid reason why other people shouldn't be able to use a text chat option you can simply turn off. Nothing you have said thus far is a valid argument against the addition of text chat.Gamertaglemieux wrote: »Gamertaglemieux wrote: »Text chat boxes serve to only remove and destroy my immersion playing the game.
But a big hairy Nord warrior talking to his mom in a squeeky 12 year old's voice and an American accent helps with the immersion?
Not when I turn voice chat off.

Yep, just click the chevron in the corner and it minimizes.
Also, I agree about the mean-spirited posts. They aren't helping to advance anyone's side of this debate, as there aren't going to be any "winners". Just discussion.
