On the other hand that could be a side-effect of too much caffeine...
Yeah, well, you've heard of being the guy behind the guy? Well I'm the guy behind the guy who's behind that guy.I'm a dude, playing a dude, disguised as another dude.

Hi, I´m curious to know how many women are actually playing the game, and for that I´d like to survey:
How many men have actually girl characters in game?

Wow, I think I never had so many replies in a thread that I started.
I understand how male chauvinistic this question might appear. I´ll explain myself:
I have been playing RPG games for a long time, and since ever I tryed to imagine myself in that fantastic world. So now that it is possible, I try to make my character somhow similar to me. I have seen people in the game with big boobs and that, but I have also seen "normal" people. I wonder how common is that a person just wants to be himself in game (but with powers...).
I see a lot of girls in the game, and lets face it: I know a lot of girls play video games, but that is a minority compared to the amount of men that does, particularly in games like ESO or other RPGs. So I though asking this question would give me an answer. And it did: most people wants to be someone else in-game, or, they just don´t feel related with the character as I do (and that´s perfectly fine - I just wanted to know).
Also, I pay a lot of attention to the estethics of other characters. Some are a real works of art. It is interesting to know if behind it, there is a girl or a man. Their art expressions tend to be different.
Finally, I just wanted to know more or less the percentage of players that are men/girls. Most girls I know only play Candy Crash-like games.
And by the way, I tried, but I was not able to make a poll about this.
Thanks for the answers!

Theres no need for a psychological study. Its kind of evident why male players enjoy playing female characters. One of the most common reasons will be something nice to look at while you play. Of course their will be outliers that do it because theyre creepers, others will do it because others give them things. But theres nothing particularly mind blowing about it.
Ive got two male characters and a female character. For me the female character was just to do something different. Its quickly becoming one of my favorite characters but thats because its a class that in past MMOs Ive typically taken up.
It's mostly the usual reasons, but some stories are quite interesting. I have a transgender friend for whom RPGs were both escapism and an eye-opening experience where she could create her character the way she unconsciously wanted to be; her "correct" alter ego in Tamriel, as it were. It helped her come to terms with the situation.MornaBaine wrote: »I actually think a pretty fascinating psychological genders study could be done about the choices players make regarding the gender of their characters.
I think I need a little more evidence until I take such a preposterous hypothesis serious.About 50% of Tamriel people are roughly half of it.
Yeah. i wonder if people have the same problems with fixed gender action or actiom RPG games .The total freedom of gender/class choice is a somewhat newish development and it is not even now universal. If one would limit oneself to only playing games representing character similar to themselves IRL it would be quite restrictive.I was thinking about this just last night when I stumbled on a box of old games while I was moving some stuff around. 3 of those games were old Tomb Raider games, which were the first "person simulation" games I ever played, as well as the first game franchise that I ever played repeatedly. I would wait for new Tomb Raider games. I was mad when they picked Angelina Jolie to play Lara Croft in the movies because she didn't have brown eyes! So for me, the idea of playing a game using a female character is nothing new, and in fact goes back to some of my earliest experiences with "person simulation" games like all MMOs and RPGs are.
Just my 2 cents.

The big boobs thing I'm going to guess will be mostly played by guys. Women players who want the attention may also pick that, and also be the types who openly "advertise" they are female IRL.
The works of art could go both ways. I saw a really striking albino Argonian in Vulkhel Guard bank the other night. It also had a very amusing name that matched it perfectly. Though I didn't really contemplate if a male or female was playing it.
