I am a male who only plays male characters. Male characters who I make sorta look like me. (If I showed up to the gym a few more days a week.) This is most likely due to an underlying hero complex that really shows itself whilst vicariously living through the pixelated me. Can I get off the couch now?

Female. Used to strictly play male characters when I was a teenager just so no one would 'suspect' I was female. Now, idgaf. I just ignore everyone i'm not friends with, stay out of local chat, and keep on.

On the rare occasion that I am both communicating with strangers and receiving flak for my gender it doesn't bother me. I'll usually play along with the same mind-numbingly boring sexist jokes that are used every single time just to get it over with quickly. Yes, yes, I live in the kitchen and do nothing but make sandwiches all day, nyuck nyuck. Can we play now? Funny part is that I am actually the 'bread-winner' in my household while my husband is the stay-at-home Mr. Mom of our twin daughters.

I really enjoyed that, and can relate.. Being an old school MMORPG gamer - Things like EQ, Runescape, Darkeden.

A description of what the Acronyms mean would be good though, never played the FF online series (completed the single player titles though) @Roselle

I never really cared, I don't role play, I just game.

It has been very tedious, embarrassing and infuriating on trying to get my membership for this game what should've been a simply enter a code and get it over with already.

Basically, you might cry if you ever played FFXI back in 2004ish like I did.

Otherwise you might just be sad. A lot of the acronyms stood for what the classes meant in FFXI at the time and you actually had to play the game to know the angst of the translated story in the first place.

I am a guy who plays with girl characters. I max out 2 of sliders cuz I like what I see. I have a wife and she is not impressed with my choices.

I think I understand it, Out-levelling your original friends, reuniting with people you'd almost forgotten about. These are universal feelings I think. Either way, thanks for the share.

Many of us would love to go back to our "Golden-Era" of gaming and it's probably part of the reason some of us are still gaming today.

Damn - I'm only 25 and I sound like an old man but i've been gaming online since I was 12 so it's been a while.
I wouldn't have even commented on this topic if not for that video haha. The whole gender thing isn't something I care about.

Regarding dudes playing female chars and pretending to be females to get lewt, that's a bit harder on console because all communication is voice chat. Unless you got a real good falsetto...

I'm male, but I only play female characters. I've done so for over a decade now.

I don't even really remember why I first did. Though if I had to answer now, I guess I'd have to say I simply like the way they look. Something about chicks being badass and looking cool while doing it is awesome.

Now if I were to give a silly answer, what guy would want to stare at some big, sweaty, hairy dude all day when he could stare at a hot chick? Makes sense to my male genes!
