32.
male.
NEVER ever play female char in MMO because i want to be immersed... so I like to model my toon to look like myself as close as possible.
So i'm proud to say I do actually look like my DK.
(except a little shorter)
(and less muscular)
(and thinner hair)
(worse standing posture)
(less jawlines)
(........)
I've got such a variety of characters: all races, all classes, both sexes, each using a different combination of gear. Maybe part of it comes from years and years of DMing (or GMing depending on the game) pen and paper RPGs. Or maybe it has to do with all of the plays I used to act in when I was in school, and all the theatre sports I used to do. They're characters that I play - they have nothing at all to do with who I am, they have everything to do with whether I have a concept for a character that I find interesting.

Hey, at least that way you knew his stats before you tied the knot.MornaBaine wrote: »And yes, I met my husband in an MMO, true story.
@IrishGirlGamer the irony in this never ceases to amaze me...even more so now with the vast push towards touch screens... (Used to get yelled at for putting your hands on the screen, now it's encouraged.)IrishGirlGamer wrote: »
Seriously, though: I once had a date ask to use my computer to check their e-mail. I knew it wouldn't last when they asked: "Hey, why does your mouse have buttons on the side ..."
@firstdecan , I don't play "cross gender" characters, I just play characters.firstdecan wrote: »I have a general question I'd like to add to this thread: Why do some people think it's unusual for a person to play a cross gender character?
@Pawkette, yeah, that's what it is...There's actually a fair amount of evidence to support that men just wanna be women.

For statistics sake I am female.
BUT... if you are the looking for a relationship type...I am an extremely hairy, overweight, don't bathe except in the rain 45 year old man that lives in Mommy's basement

Did I read something about ESO relationships??
Don't tell me that they've included the whole relationship/marriage/sex thing in ESO like is in WOW...
Personally I find that pretty creepy.

Actually, RPGs are one of the most gender-equal genres. Women make up nearly half of all players. MMOs have a lower percentage of women, only about a third, but even at this number meeting women in the game shouldn't be anything unusual. Most of us consider it obvious.I see a lot of girls in the game, and lets face it: I know a lot of girls play video games, but that is a minority compared to the amount of men that does, particularly in games like ESO or other RPGs.
Look at the OP again. This isn't the answer to the question you asked. So I though asking this question would give me an answer. And it did: most people wants to be someone else in-game, or, they just don´t feel related with the character as I do (and that´s perfectly fine - I just wanted to know).
That's definitely false. All of the studies I've seen in the last couple of years have shown that the majority of people playing video games are now female. Only by a few percentage points, but still.I know a lot of girls play video games, but that is a minority compared to the amount of men that does,
That may or may not be true. I haven't seen studies that specifically broke down the male-female ratio by genre, so I can't say.particularly in games like ESO or other RPGs.

Look at the OP again. This isn't the answer to the question you asked. It wasn't a neutral question about people's habits; you didn't even ask people, only men.
Fair enough, but, since we are not publishing a sci paper here: What about your friends. Of my friends, just one women plays RPGS. Most play candy crash-like.
Of my real-life friends I know for sure that 6 guys play RPGs and 4 girls do (to be fair, 2 of those guys work in the video game industry, and 1 of those girls is married to one of the guys in the industry). Not sure about my other friends... Of my online friends that I've made through ESO it's pretty close to a 50-50 mix.

Female here who plays males almost exclusively. I play in 3rd person and like looking at a pert male tush in my games!
My husband also plays, and he plays mostly male with a few females here and there for variety.

If you start role playing as the opposite gender then you might want to take a break though.
