Girls in game gets more treat from fellow guildies, more popular and advance in guild hierarchy faster. A lot of guild die because they choose officers by popularity and not by suitabilty. Girls are popular from day 1. A guy have to proove he is useful.
Theres a stereotype that girls in gaming are nicer but that's not true. They are the same race: human and there are just as many not nice girl as guy.
Want to be an officer or just extremely popular in a guild?
- Post an unknown teen modells picture on the guild forum.
- Mention in guild chat that you not used to these games cos u r a girl
You will get more advice, people will be more patient with you with your mistakes, they will not try to lecture you how to play your game. You will get more bargains, free stuff, presents, you may win the guild lottery more etc.
You think this is miserable? I think it is but I know many player doing this. Even real girls doing this by not realizing they really using their gender to gain popularity.
Playing the other gender in a role playing game has never been my cup of tea. I know all the excuses. I heard it all. Boys don't play with dolls period. (No! Not that kind of period.) But that's just my conservative nature. I can take it that other people think else.
In MMO's I don't care what gender is the player I met. Only thing I usually ask is nationallity (for language barriers). And threads like looking for girl guild and how many girl gamer...
Come on!
I would like to think that most "real girls" at least *women* (I'm 35) want nothing to do with any of that. Maybe a young teenage girl who hasn't quite found herself yet or needs attention, but most female gamers I've talked to just want to *game on*
If a guild wants to be anything more serious than social and are giving out officer(s) based on popularity alone, they are doomed to fail anyway (imo)
Edit:35 in Oct lol, getting old enough to forget my own darn age
Totally agree with you Psychobunni. I could care less about the gender of the person I am playing with. I only care about whether or not they are having a good time, and if we are teaming up to do a delve, Public or Group dungeon, if they have enough knowledge and experience on how to defeat the enemies, and if not, how good they are at following another persons instructions without getting bent outta shape.
Though I do find it completely hilarious because most people I have grouped up with have assumed I am a "dude".
But yeah, most "women" want nothing to do with the popularity contests that are some Guilds, let alone dating guilds.. like wtf? no thanks. I would prefer to stick with a guild that would rather help every player out to have a good time.
So to answer your initial question.
Female. 37.
I play both female and male characters. I alternate between them.
So far my favs Merrick and Dyvvia.

Wait... dating guilds are a thing? I had no idea haha

I take offense at this. I am a guy and never pretend anything else, who only plays female toons out of personal preference. If this poll is done, please have the options be "guy playing girl" and vice versa, without the jaded and derogatory inflection shown here.I'm pretty sure that, even in a poll thread, there would still be girls lying to prevent special kinds of attention, and/or guys doing the same precisely for that special kind of attention.
So you cold make an anonymous poll like "
- Guy that play a Guy
- Guy that pretends to be a Girl
- Girl that pretends to be a Guy
- Girl that plays a Girl
I'd like to see those numbers
I played many many MMO and can honestly say I've never created a female character. First, because I'm - well a man. Second, because I'm not a weirdo. Honestly don't know why so many guys make female characters. Something weird about that.
I'm curious if you think it's weird for women to create male characters if you think it's weird for men to make female characters?
Northern_Eve wrote: »I'm a woman and I only play female characters. I don't fully roleplay my characters, but they all have a backstory and personality. I simply find it too difficult to properly relate to a male character .
I like making my characters attractive looking, but not overly so. When I first joined this game over a year ago, my first character seemed to be "too pretty" because she got some unwanted attention. My current main has heard only one very weird suggestion in game, but that was an exception, not a rule.
But I am not excluding the possibility that sometimes I get treated more "gently" when people realise I'm a female in real life as well. Sometimes it feels I'm not expected to perform quite as highly as male players - or that at least my mistakes can be more easily overlooked and forgiven. I don't know if that's a good thing or sexism - I guess it depends on how you look at it. But I personally don't find it offending. Sometimes a little amusing, most times just polite. I don't want to be patronised, of course, but it doesn't really go that far.
Hi, I´m curious to know how many women are actually playing the game, and for that I´d like to survey:
How many men have actually girl characters in game?

6 out of my 8 characters are male. I do play them all, but this is my main-
Well, dang, he's pretty, of course you want to follow him around!
Vulsahdaal wrote: »But back on subject, and not being male I could be wrong, but I always figured this was the reason why so many males play female characters. Why not have a 'pretty' and/or otherwise attractive character that you would want to follow around for many hours? I dont see anything weird about this at all..
Honestly I probably dont think much about whether that large muscular hairy nord guy in front of me is actually a female, or whether that pretty petite young bosmer girl is actually a guy. It really just doesnt matter to me, I deal with each character as they are presented in game and thats all..
...until now.Couple of women in my guild. Thankfully they haven't been swarmed on by horny creepy guys.
