My name says who I am. I am indeed a chick, and one who has been playing games a very long time. I belong to a guild, (since beta), which is comprised of about 99% female players. I play mostly female characters in TESOTU, and also have a couple of dude toons as well, tho I dont play them often, (they are mainly squires who carry my gear). :) In the past, I hid behind a male character to avoid attention. I don't feel that I need to do that any longer, and it's great. I enjoy building strong female characters, who go forth and kick butt. B) I have yet to encounter any unwanted or inappropriate behavior toward me for me being female, in this game. I do however keep zone chat off most of the time, so I don't see a lot of the things ppl say. I think this game is a great example of a supportive gaming community, at least in my own experience. Great guilds, and many great players of all genders. :)

Clearly I don't get it. It would be cool to meet someone with similar interests (especially in TES/ESO games) but I just don't see myself finding and connecting with the right lady in an mmo game. I'm a decent looking guy but my voice is pretty deep (more so over phones/mics) so I would probably intimidate strangers if I tried talking to them. ha very educational. I'm tempted to play that through the mic while my character dances in the middle of the city square B)

What got the attention of my wife when we were still just in-game friends was, i was utterly bored doing slayer deeds (achievement equivalent in ESO) and she happened to join me as she was doing the same. I was half-braindead from killing the 304th mob and started singing "What if god was one of us..." and it all kicked off from there.
Stuff just happens. If you are at the right place at the right time with the right person, regardless of the environment, be it digital or real life - it will happen.
However if you start stalking people and saying i wanna go out with you, please /friend me - obviously you will be probably reported for trolling/harassment :P

LMAO Yep, I suppose he has done well so far in keeping his face from being broken (unlike some of my other male characters) but he is a total rogue and so to him looks are part of the trade.. And yes, he would be more than happy to pitch to you hair products, falmer blood elixir, or anything else he thought you may be interested in while he simultaneously robs you blind :)

I'm female, mostly play female characters ... kinda depends on the backstory/inspiration.

As for a tiny magic-weilder, I rolled up a goblin (used the most ugly tiny version of a bosmer I could make) and her backstory is she's from Toothmaul Gully. Saw a pair of altmer sisters (templer and sorc) and decided she wanted to be like that (powerful and magical) too.

She's a templar who uses bow (the best weapon is one they don't see till too late - and turn around or look up and get an arrow in the eye) and I have her crouching most of the time because... goblin!

Quite a few of the characters (not just the players) I game with are fond of her.

Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.

I've noticed a few folks in zone chat making "corrections" when someone calls them dude, or man, and they're female. They typical response seems to have been "so?" or "no one cares".

I'm 40 years old. Once upon a time it was unusual to run across a female gamer - so I was informed when I started gaming. Most people back then refused to believe I was female, but now, nobody seems to care either way.
To me, unless I find out differently, everyone is a "them" - a name on a screen, a person who's gender makes no difference to me. I just like nice, affable and fun people. My husband doesn't like computers, so he refuses to play, but my younger son does, so we adventure together sometimes. Otherwise most of the time I play alone.

As for characters, mine are all female. Oddly, on thinking, I've never made a male character ever. I don't know why.

I stopped correcting people. I guess I adopted their "who cares?" attitude. :) Unless it's guild/friend chat, then I'll mention I'm female to avoid the awkward situation when you know someone for a year and assume they're male, only to discover by accident that they are, in fact, a woman. It's so much easier in my native language with gendered verbs.

I rarely participate in zone chat, so I don't bother with corrections either, unless it's for those same reasons that you've listed @Rosveen . It happened to me in STO once... a fleet mate I thought was female for the longest time, turned out to actually be male.

I have a 3 male characters and 4 female characters. Two of the guys are good looking but not in a pretty way, the third guy is a balding old man. One female is a grizzled war veteran with gray hair, weathered skin and an eye patch, another is a cross eyed imperial (thanks to the bug when the PC game launched and you couldn't see what your character looked like in creation very well). And another woman is a middle aged dunmer with attitude and the last is a white khajiit with red stripes.

I'm not really in the know about what's appropriate or neutral or anything in regards, but it seemed the girl in zone didn't feel that being addressed as dude was appropriate for her. She made a point of correcting the person anyway. I don't see why myself. I would rather be called dude than some of the other names I've seen people get called in zone these days!

Your gender doesn't matter unless you want to use it.

Girls in game gets more treat from fellow guildies, more popular and advance in guild hierarchy faster. A lot of guild die because they choose officers by popularity and not by suitabilty. Girls are popular from day 1. A guy have to proove he is useful.
Theres a stereotype that girls in gaming are nicer but that's not true. They are the same race: human and there are just as many not nice girl as guy.

Want to be an officer or just extremely popular in a guild?

    - Post an unknown teen modells picture on the guild forum.
    - Mention in guild chat that you not used to these games cos u r a girl

You will get more advice, people will be more patient with you with your mistakes, they will not try to lecture you how to play your game. You will get more bargains, free stuff, presents, you may win the guild lottery more etc.

You think this is miserable? I think it is but I know many player doing this. Even real girls doing this by not realizing they really using their gender to gain popularity.

Playing the other gender in a role playing game has never been my cup of tea. I know all the excuses. I heard it all. Boys don't play with dolls period. (No! Not that kind of period.) But that's just my conservative nature. I can take it that other people think else.

In MMO's I don't care what gender is the player I met. Only thing I usually ask is nationallity (for language barriers). And threads like looking for girl guild and how many girl gamer...
    Come on!

I would like to think that most "real girls" at least *women* (I'm 35) want nothing to do with any of that. Maybe a young teenage girl who hasn't quite found herself yet or needs attention, but most female gamers I've talked to just want to *game on*

If a guild wants to be anything more serious than social and are giving out officer(s) based on popularity alone, they are doomed to fail anyway (imo)

Edit:35 in Oct lol, getting old enough to forget my own darn age :p

Totally agree with you Psychobunni. I could care less about the gender of the person I am playing with. I only care about whether or not they are having a good time, and if we are teaming up to do a delve, Public or Group dungeon, if they have enough knowledge and experience on how to defeat the enemies, and if not, how good they are at following another persons instructions without getting bent outta shape.

Though I do find it completely hilarious because most people I have grouped up with have assumed I am a "dude".

But yeah, most "women" want nothing to do with the popularity contests that are some Guilds, let alone dating guilds.. like wtf? no thanks. I would prefer to stick with a guild that would rather help every player out to have a good time.

So to answer your initial question.

    Female. 37.

I play both female and male characters. I alternate between them.
So far my favs Merrick and Dyvvia.
