I'm only level 32 right now, but on my Nord Dragon Knight I feel like almost all NPCs and solo quests are pushovers. Admittedly I haven't done much group content, but the solo questing experience has felt really laughable, to the point where I literally do not even take damage anymore.
I think it makes the important Main Quest missions seem very anti-climactic when I can kill the last "boss" in a few seconds without taking any damage... and I'm not even that good.
I'm more of a solo Elder Scrolls guy than I am a group MMO guy, so my opinion is probably biased. I'm of the opinion that at least half of the fights should be against NPCs that actually force me to think outside of bashing 1 or 2 buttons.
I remember way back before they nerfed VR and my first char to level was a templar. This was back when there was all this beta hype about being a high-damage dealer with self-heals. Then they nerfed templars. So with little to no DPS due to resource issues, blazing spear as the only CC to work with (damn good one though) and doing most of it solo (conservatively 98%). Some of the areas were challenging and as a result highly rewarding.
Lately, having been grinding through Cadwell's gold, I did notice that they've upped the difficulty just a little bit which is good. Much more dynamic NPCs in terms of combat and skills used. They move around and run from you vs. standing still. You have to choose between locking down a mage, healer or bow depending upon your build and situation.
For example, yesterday one of the mini-bosses (spirit of guile) in a Bankorai quest I cannot recall was stealthed, then proceeded to ambush me and drop a South Tether ultimate on me. I 1was so blatantly shocked and excited I didn't even fight back and immediately wiped. This was just plain awesome. To be clear, I would rather be PvP-ing though.

While I found the vet leveling content a decent challenge at times (some fights) before the first nerf and extreemly easy now, I know there are some that are challenged and the Devs try to take all into account.
I find the class & story line quests ok, could be a bit harder though. Anything else however is a pushover, no real challenges await you there and its a pity as it was different in Beta.
Right now I can solo all the group bosses, dungeon bosses or anchors. Where is the point in this? Maybe I am just an OP sorceress with 2 pets, but ya I just find it really weird.

I find it incredibly interesting that someone who has been around since launch does not have a VR character. Honestly @Audigy, you are missing so much. I'm curious why you choose to stay below 50? Or are you just very casual?

Final bosses and even groups of mobs were easy as hell, even at VET4+. It was just sad. The only time I died was when I jumped off a cliff with my fellow guar.
what's your class/build?
ZOS, NERF!
PS: unless you say DK, then don't nerf lol

Just out of curiosity, how did you manage to not gain any vet levels doing the entire Silver quest line?

I played the entire game with a friend so we duo'ed everything and the vet ranks were tough pre-nerf. We died but had a ton of fun doing so, but eventually we got everything done. The second is a DK. I remember they cut back on the vet level difficulty since I played it the first time and have to say that yes, it is to easy. I solo pretty much everything including public dungeons and bosses. Maybe something between the two is where they should be aiming.
Hey, that was actually me the other day! I've been playing since launch, but never did a vet dungeon before because my real life friends weren't all VR yet, and I didn't feel confident enough in my skills to try one with a PUG. I was on a VR5 character, my 2 friends were VR1, and we had a 4th from one of my guilds who was VR14 join us. The VR14 who joined us had done the dungeon before (Vet Elden Hollow), so his advice on the final boss was invaluable. It was difficult (especially the final boss), but we didn't wipe once, and I didn't feel like we were being carried by the VR14 either - having him along was definitely helpful, but it was his advice on strategy for the last boss that was what helped the most. He contributed good DPS for sure, but as long as we had his advice I'm sure we could have done almost as well with a less experienced DPS. I think we only had a total of 4 deaths between us all in the entire dungeon. Got a gold key out of it! Actually, I felt like it was just right on the difficulty level. I had a blast, and I felt like it was a good test for my healer.ssewallb14_ESO wrote: »It's more a difficulty progression issue than overall difficulty. The game actually gets easier as you level and unlock more powerful abilities. It should gradually get more difficult to prepare you for harder content. Instead it gets progressively easier 1-50, VR content is even easier with everything unlocked, then veteran dungeons are dropped on you (gigantic skill gap), then Craglorn (now we're getting easier for some reason?), then trials/vdsa (back to harder). I always feel kinda bad for the guy who tries his first vet pledge at VR5ish completely untuned, with no idea what he's getting himself into. I mean how would he know, he's been playing 1-50 content and VR zones that offer absolutely nothing to prepare him for that kind of content.

My only issue is that none of the boss characters feel like they pose a challenge anymore, and if you die once, the difficulty in fighting them drops by seemingly 50%. It's just become far, far too easy. Not saying the game needs to be hard, but... it's FAR too easy as it is now.Alphashado wrote: »My personal opinion is that the 1-50 zones might be a tad easy, but I believe that's ok because there needs to be a place for new players to learn the game. I'd agree with that for sure. What I'd like to see, though, is an option to play the endgame content on a harder difficulty. I know, that already exists with going for the gold key on a vet dungeon pledge, which I think is very cool (it wasn't until I did my first vet pledge the other day that I realized getting the gold key isn't just a matter of making sure you kill all of the mini bosses, but it actually requires you to use a mechanic that makes the final boss fight significantly more difficult - I think it's awesome!), but I would like to see an additional option on top of that to make things more difficult still for those who already have their end game gear and such.Alphashado wrote: »I'm not against buffing a few things here and there. but endgame content is just fine the way it is and we HAVE to make sure that there is content scaled appropriately to new players that don't have the benefit of gear, game mechanics, and Champion points.
I kind of agree with this, in that I do find that some classes seem to have an easier time of it than others (I tend to find things are most difficult as a nightblade, and easiest as a templar, but others may disagree), but I play all classes, and I think that overall the difficulty of the game is lower than I would like.Alphashado wrote: »Another issue that I think is skewing the opinions in one way or the other is which class they are playing. Someone playing a low level DK as a new player is gonna find it much easier than a Sorc or a NB as their first character.
