What I actually enjoy the most about the game, is how many variations of ways to play it that surfaces. It's amazing how many ways to play the game you find when you start googling. I started out with a templar with my friend, and I decided to google some to find a build for it. I gave up, to be honest, not because of lack of it, but the sheer number of topics about it, everyone convinced they have "the fastest" way. If you do the same with WoW on any given class, you find 1 link, with 1 build, with 1 theorycrafted thread about why it's best. No discussions, nothing. If that 1 build is 0.0001% better than anything else, you'd better go for it or get flamed.

So yeah, as said before, I'll stay. Not sure how long but I'll stay for as long as it takes me to get bored, and right now it doesn't seem to happen any time soon. I'm still finding ways to play on my sorcerer and that one's VR5. Might have a go at some weird bow/magic combo just for the heck of it :)

I decided not to subscribe yet. I did have some fun during the past month, but I feel like everything what I could enjoy here I tried already and those things which I want from a long-term MMO I do not see here at all, not at present not in the future plans.

Will check this game in half a year or so, maybe it will be closer to my needs and expectations than it is now.

Already subbed. I feel it is an excellent game, yes it has issues I am not disputing that but for me, I am having so much fun! This is my first Elder Scrolls game, so that could be what it is but as far as MMO 's are concerned this is the best one I have played in awhile. I don't feel like I am playing that "other game" with a different coat of paint. I love the sense of wonder and exploration this game gives me. Plus I can play as a vampire (I don't pvp that much so I am not one of "those" vampires)

I want the game to improve, so I am here for awhile.

call me old fashioned but when I enjoy a game I play it and will keep playing it. I don't need to nit pick things like easter eggs to try to fin reasons why or why not. I also don't let other people make my decisions for me (which is rare these days)

I also realize that 15 bucks a month is like... nothing. I spend more than that on coffee in less than a week. Way more than that and I'm far from wealthy.

He said something about a museum in another thread, but I don't know where he was going with it. Really reads to me like he's using videogames as some kind of RL replacement, and that's kinda scary.

I changed from 6 months to 3 months, and my daughter (who formerly was signed up for 3 months) cancelled instead. I feel I *should* cancel, what with ESO being overrun by bots and gold farmers, not to mention the whole "invisible teammate/chevron" thing which is equally bad, but I guess I will give Zenimax another couple/few months to get their act together. Which I will probably regret, but I digress. (And Warlords of Draenor will probably be in beta by then, so I can always reactivate WoW and move on if ESO is still a mess at the end of the summer.)

For the good people who are bummed out by the trash. Dont give up, let the trash leave, the community will then get better. Once the trash moves on to the next game that wont be good enough for them or make them happy, the rest of us will be just fine and dandy. Never let others suck you into their own misery just because they hate life. I hope you all (the good ones) stay a while.

Lol, gotta love when a user needlessly insults people for not agreeing with his/her tastes. Funny, I don't often see the "Trash" bashing on players that enjoy the game/decide to stick around. Players like yourself, who don't know how to communicate with others human-beings, add just that tiny bit more reason for those on the line, to just step over. A toxic community is not good for an MMO, especially one that has a limited amount of Ignore slots. You are quite the hypocrite.

Don't forget that YOU, on behalf of the game maker, are helping to drive their business away. Understanding that you enjoy the game, and clearly take personal interest in it's success, you should behave better, to potentially encourage people to stay. Just because we all know that you can't please everyone, doesn't mean you can't try to reason, rather than insult them and have the game lose another $15/month without thought. How about you let ZOS be the ones that decide to shoo off THEIR customers?

I'm going to attempt to play on the EU server for awhile, and see if that community is any different. But I'm certainly not getting my hopes up.

    Hey, we're lovely people.

However, not everyone speaks English. Zone chat does have quite a lot of German, French and various other languages in it.

Our bot problem, especially in the three factions main city zones (Stonefalls, Glenumbra and wherever the Elflings go), is terrible.

And we have just as many idiots in zone chat.

You won't find it any different, except you won't be able to understand half of what is said in zone chat.

I recommend you both do as I do on the EU server- turn off /yell, /zone, zone French and /zone German, and stick to /zone English. You optimise the constructive chat and minimise the spam that way. I have absolutely zero problems with the community. Then again, I don't PvP which is probably another factor!

The problem in my eyes is that games try to act as life these days.

Look at Ultima Online as example. We had no achievements, no level, not even epic gear or ladders. It was all in our imagination, what we did and how we did it. Besides that internet was still a baby, I don't recall a website like Esohead or thottspot.

This changed heavily over the years, today almost each game has achievements, ladders (Eso with Craglorn), support for addons that give out stats, websites where you have the optimal build, perfect walkthrough ...

Its like in RL, you can read about it everywhere, how to make the most money, how to get the best university degree, how to find the best men or women etc.

Everything is a competition these days, that's what's so wrong.

You can hardly avoid it in RL, but also in gaming its becoming harder each year. At wow you cant raid if you don't read up and have preparation (finding a group that accepts noobs is impossible), at TESO you cant do Trials if you don't read up (based on current review material and what people said at this forum in regards of "you suck if you don't spec like that or this).

People are driven to research and perfectionism to be a part of this game or any game online.

I remember my first year at wow, nobody cared that I had a level 12 sword on my level 60. It was my trademark and everyone knew me with this. I changed it when I got Rank 14 and it was a big deal on the server.

If I would do the same at ESO, Wow or any other game today - I would be kicked from groups, insulted and harassed.

As much I dislike elitism and all what came with it, at some point its understandable that people don't see the fun anymore in games. They are afraid to be excluded if they are not the best.

I was not apart of the beta due to the fact I really dislike betas. I believe I got this game the first or second week of release. So far I have been having a great time with PVP and me and my friend have been doing some fun questing together.

For me the answer is yes I will be subbing on.

Definitely. During beta I wasn't sure I would pre-order & subscribe but I did and I'm now enjoying the game quite a bit as a level 39 sorcerer. I strongly dislike 'free'-to-play games so I'd like to support one of the few subscription based games on the market.

This post is a great example of the quality of ESO's community. If those who stay (the "good people" as the person above calls them and himself) are indeed referring to those not satisfied with ESO as "trash", I can't have any hope for the future of this game. If from the start players do not respect the opinion of others, community will not become any better.

I already was turned off by how ESO's players address each other in ingame chats, the amount of direct offence and vulgarity which can be observed, so I am not completely surprised to see a similar behavior on forums. Shame on you.

This is not issue of ESO. This is issue of modern gamers. Yet I must say I have better experience in ESO. If I stuck in dungeon in dialog (yes I want to hear them...) and group continues and dies, they never insulted me (I play healer). They simply accept the fact that it was their mistake, not mine. If this happend in WoW I would be kicked in an instant.

So I like the community - majority are normal people and one can have a lot of fun with them.

I think that guy meant it well, but just wrote it badly...

So far I only saw few idiots in the game. For example those who reply crap to serious questions. Someone asked what buff does he get if he choose wolf in grathwood. Offcourse some "funny" guy must have replied that licking ***** and stuff like that... These "funny" guys lead every community to speachless and aggresive one. Also google quote help a lot these days. Just imagine how many times you will ask anyone if you usually get reply like above or use google... Community should communicate right?

This is a problem I see.

My gf is asking me a lot of questions which she can find with google. Sometimes it is annoying, but you know what I am glad she does that, we can actualy talk and search that stuff together if I do not know it.

But for the negatives and unsubbed people I honestly welcome critics, but if one decide to leave... They should not tell the other players in the forums. It may make more to unsub, even if they wanted to stay... Game is no evil, so we don't need anyone to protect our time and money from ESO. It has to be personal choice. Like the game - sub, don't like the game - unsub...

I signed up for 6 months. I haved tried many MMOs over the years and been hoping for one that would really be the game where I could imagine myself still playing years from now, and this is it. The first 50 levels, i rushed a bit more than I wanted to in order to keep on level with friends. I'm doing veteran content now, and fully enjoy the pvp, the quests and slower progression.
While it is a shame to see good people leave after first month, I am really excited that a large community are getting invested in the game. I hope the game stay subscription based and that the zenimax crew stay with the game to keep it fresh and exciting.

@‌Laura I play videogames since I was 2 years old, it is a way of life. No, I don't make money from it; in fact, if I have to play videogames for living probably I'll quit.

I'm really interested in see how this game develop, "Elders Scrolls" is not just another name. However, while experiencing videogames sometimes you have "fun" and sometimes you don't. I'm aware of that.

Ask yourself, can you recognize a piece of good (or bad) music even if you don't like it?. Well, the same happens in videogames, some games are pieces of art but are boring, and probably the mass won't like them. By the contrary, some are extremely simple and are fun.

TESO PvP for example, do I have fun in it? NO, but they worked hard and it is very well done (except some class balances but that is another story).

What I expect?. I expect this game grows and become a success in every way. I'd like to see every piece (I'm talking about the mechanics not if the game has bugs or not) working as swiss clock.
