Suggestion-required Identity card as part of account activation/authentication (adobe style)

I know bots(and goldsellers) are a pest ingame.
And as soon as they ban several bots 100 new show up,same people ,different accounts

In order to deal with this,
make it manditory to upload a copy of your passport for the authentication process of your account.
Without authentication its impossible to enter the game.

If a players gets banned for bad behavior or exploiting they go to the banned people list and can never make an account again using the same passport, because they are banned as a person.Never to return.
Even if its a group of people using bots and exploiting,passports are in short supplies
Maybe their mom's passport can be abused but thats it.
End of story.

I dunno about the whole US, but in my part of it it's not as common to have a passport as I imagine it is in a lot of Europe!

If you think it'd work for the EU servers, in terms of passports being more common... I'd say it seems like a halfway decent idea.

Yeeeaaaahh... I'm going to go with, no. I admire your gusto, though. This is generally a bad idea. While a lot of people in the US have a passport, it isn't like licenses where nearly everyone has it. I think this may be more suited towards the European servers, but even then I think it's wicked overkill.

Eh, we have socials over here, same thing in effect for this thought, close enough that we can use it to discuss merits/flaws at least.

Can you say.. Identity Theft? A Passport is the ultimate in forms of identification. And yes, passports are far more common in some parts of the world than other parts.

No, gaming companies regularly get hacked, given the fact that they make us use our account name as a username, they clearly don't put a big emphasis on security. Aside from that, if you can get a fake credit card, you can certainly get fake credentials to spoof that system too.

Euh, I'm European and I have never ever had a passport... passports are used to travel outside of the E.U. An identity cards yeah, but not a passport...

Yeah, but dude, we're already at the point of supplying everything needed to make CC charges in your name for some players. I'm not sure this is as big a tipping point as you make it out to be?

What I am saying is that, for example, any player using a CC for their account is already acting on a certain amount of faith.

I don't know about US but everyone is required to have one in EU
You could even be arrested if you are without
So no excuses there.
It is not overkill.It would be the least I'd do to get rid of these stupid goldsellers and bots

In the US, we have a separate card ID that doesn't work as a passport, but has the same expectations within the country.

It is wrong on so many levels, I don't know where to start... Many countries have national passports, in my country this passports is in national language which will make reading it a bit hard for most of the world. Also, passport contains a lot of personal information, sharing which will be stupid in the internet. No, I don't trust security any gaming company (Sony, looking at you).
So in eextremely unlikely case of passport being required - I'll just pass.

If you want to set up a paypal account you have to send them a copy of the front and back of your identity card as well
It is completely confidential,not out on the internet.
Mine isn't english either by the way

This would sort them out in no time
In my opinion,this authentication process would be a small price to pay.

We also all get a social security number in the US which I have to use online for a variety of different things. Wouldn't feel any worse about giving that out than I did CC info. *shrug*

perhaps they already know name and stuff when we set up subscription? so they can trace who pays for more than 1 account? perhaps the card holder/paypal account needs to be the same name as the identity card copy we'd send..(so not 1 exploiter can set up multiple accounts so easily using same card)
Unless you are a family,then you can link accounts on to one CC if the authentication process is complete for each member of the family that plays
