    Yup, I have worked a lot at a call center in the past. It's a low paying, high stress job where a lot of times customers take things out on you that you had nothing to do with. A bit of politeness goes a long way and will typically result in the person on the other end of the line being a bit more willing to bend the rules in your favor.

    Also, I added the comment, not because I wanted a response, but because I genuinely wanted you to be nice to the person. I have been in their shoes, it is not fun, and it's not worth the stress for the money they pay. You seemed very angry, angry people who are demanding refunds are typically the meanest people, the most stubborn, and the most rude.

    This one is necessary and planned, folks. We need to take everything down to switch the entire service over to live.

    We get it, still, it is not really "planned" in any meaningful sense to players if it is not posted for us anywhere, is it? Or have I missed an announcement?

    hope the servers are back up soon, day off and got up thinking id spend day playing, but now most of day is gone and servers still down. as long as they are trying their best though I don't think everyone should complain so much. if you got to play even an hour then you got early access

    Early access pre-order cost precisely $0/£0/0 euro (I don't seem to have a button for that symbol) more than buying the game at midnight tonight. We paid the normal price of the game and got a little extra something as a thank you. I don't really understand how anyone can think that they paid extra for early access and thus deserve retribution if it's not possible to play the game at any time day or night over that period.

    Also, I'm in the EU and while it's certainly frustrating that we're unlucky enough to be the ones who are most affected by this (in that our prime time is their server fixing time...) that's kind of not a huge surprise to me, given it's a company based in the US (I believe?) I wouldn't expect to be able to get through to an office worker in the US at 9am my time, and I don't really expect the server maintenance people to be paid overtime just so they can come in at some ridiculous hour in order to avoid having down time while EU players are in 'prime time'.

    I've had a few issues with CTDs (mainly in Daggerfall city centre, quite possibly because my PC is on the low end of the specs needed to play) but other than that I've had virtually no lag, and it's all been pretty impressive.

    And I'd definitely echo the poster who reminded people to be nice to call centre staff if you ring to complain - if you can't do it because of basic common decency, do it for selfish reasons - would you be keen to help someone who's yelling at you and refusing to listen when you explain what's going on? Or would you do only what's necessary and hope that the next caller isn't a jerk?

    That said, I do think it would be good practice to give people a bit of warning ('we'll be taking the servers down at 7pm GMT' when you log in any time today would have been awesome) and it helps build goodwill. But am I going to get annoyed with them for working to make the game run as well as they can? Nope.

    Actually, this is a good thing. It may not feel like, but it is. Play after class and everyone will have already logged on and be in the middle of something. What I hate is logging on at the same time as everyone else.

    Which is why I scheduled my TESO vacation for two weeks from now. 9 days of non-stop TESO minus any number of people who have already abandoned the game.

    I'm sure I'll be flamed to no end, but no, I don't understand at all. I am a consumer, and I feel I've been misled. So flame away, but I have just as much right to express my displeasure.

    I have been denied early access for hours on end, and now again. I won't even start about how the bonus items are only for one character and not account wide because that's simply a case of buyer beware and I assumed those items would be handled like pretty much every other game/expansion I've ever pre-ordered ie all my characters on my account(s) have received the items.

    To say I am disappointed is an understatement. I am a very unhappy customer and if there were one, I'd sign up right here and now for a refund.

    NA server is different than the EU server. No need to bring them down both the same time. See?


    The only concern I see with this is that both servers are housed and supported onsite in the AMERS region at this time. So staff is based on AMERS time zones meaning work will likely occur at the same time. Other than that, sure, two different hardware assets.

    What I'd really be worried about if I were in the EU - is what downtime I would be looking at when they physically ship the assets over to the EU DC for long-term support. That's going to suck, unless they just migrate data and account data over to a new set of assets behind the scene and then just use their F5s to redirect to the new IPs.


    2 hardware assets,

    they could first done NA server ( before there prime time,)
    then after eu server (after there prime time)

    im not an rocket sienctist but that would mean they needed less ppl,
    instead of working on 2 at the same time work with 1 crew, costs less,
    we can pay 1 euro less per month.

    ( i dont care about the 1 euro let me be clear, but for a paying costumer i expect to be treated well, there are alot of mmo they could have looked at and prefented this whining.
    and its all good with me if they read this stuff and learn from it)
