Whenever presented to this topic I'll always refer everyone to this video and advocate for alternatives for BOTH types of event (PvE alternatives for MyM, PvP alternatives for the rest of 'em)

I know others have probably already pointed this out (there are a lot of comments). If you don't like pvp you can get two tickets per day just from doing a scouting quest (or even easier a town quest) in cyro.

If you don't like pvp, and you want that third ticket, mym is only twice a year. Stack up IC quests on alts in between and turn in 1/day during the event. Don't worry about dying.

I do all the events, and tbh, there is never enough stuff to spend tickets on.

then don't PvP. honestly, this discussion post is kind of pointless when you can just not do what you don't like?
considering the number of times there are PvE events, PvE content, PvE this and that, you'd think there'd be thread saying "forcing PvP'ers into PvE is WRONG" with another featureless comment.

I don't like to PvP but have never been felt forced to play PvP with this event. Whatever style pages that are there for sale by tickets I can just wait for them to hit the guild traders for dirt cheap if I like what's out.

Regardless PVE or PVP, I hate every "combat" moment of this game.
Because, most of combat game design of ESO is extremely "fossil" and too much dated.

When I'm in "action game mood", then I want to play "call of duty" or "ghost of tsushima" type of game.
    (I also love FarCry series.)

The reason which I love Bethesda game studio IP(TES and Fallout) is good story and nice world design.
Not for enjoying action game. ESO PVE combat is also super boring like PVP, but I can enjoy drama
of second age of ElderScrolls. So basically, I want to stay in PVE contents.

IMHO, I personally just skip every single PVP-related anything. I don't bother with the rewards if that is the case. I don't like it, but I survive. I see there is a push to try to get PVP more active, but not from me. Not my call, but I'd prefer these be two different games vs combined. Just my humble, useless, 2 cents.

As a PvPer I can really understand why people feel discouraged with this event. I personally love and spend a lot of time PvPing when I play but since this event started one can truly see just how toxic Cyrodiil and IC is, opportunistic people camping quest areas and generally granting no breathing room for those who simply want to do their quests and get out. It's plain and simple a disgusting way to reflect bad sportsmanship.

And yes, PvPers may come out and complain about PvE, crafting and whatnot but at the very least the majority of non-PvP events if not all of them can be done solo or with a group of friends within a sphere of more welcoming vibes, PvP doesn't provide that, and on top of that from a game and company who provide little to no resources to improve this outdated place in the game, with a combat system that has equally run it's course. With that said though, there's so much potential in Cyro and IC to make it better and especially encourage the community to be more friendly in these places

I can't stand MYM. It brings in too many trolls. Interferes with GH.

I guess open a campaign especially for MYM that doesn't have any PVP? Just PV Door and Capture resources? Or just give out event tickets for doing something like taking a book to a couple of NPC's.

Or give the PVE only campaign a really strong companion, that can protect them and 1 shot a 12 ppl ball group. Make sure the companion is really large and glowing so other players can run away.

I agree with you but there is one thing I don't understand, why do people who look for pvp, don't play games specifically for pvp? There are many of them out there, like League of Legends, DoTA2, SMITE, Naraka Bladepoint and so on. Why look for pvp in mmorpg?

PvP is what turned me from a casual basegame quester into a paying customer. Summer mayhem from 2 years ago is when I first discovered Cyrodiil. Performance was horrible, but the fights were epic. The narrative at that time was "things are about to improve, there's new servers and a code rewrite on the way". It's the reason I started subscribing to eso+ and buying the new chapter on release.

ESO PvP (Cyrodiil), if and when it works, is the most fun PvP I've ever played, and none of the examples you provided come even close imo. But I'm not married to this game, and zos has shown time and time again that they'd rather not have a PvP community at all. The day a new game arrives that provides the same experience but without the heartache, I'm jumping ship and never looking back. But for now, this is what we've got.

    Same here. Couldn't agree more.

Pick up a scouting question. Find a campaign that looks like this. You could do this on a lvl 10. If you don't have an AD toon, look around, most maps will be one color or another. Port right to the scouting location. Do report. Port to IC (saves time). Go pick up another scouting quest. Back to IC. Back to the campaign that is literally one color. I've done this and it takes less than 5 minutes to get the scouting quest done.

Get creative. Where is any PVP in this?

Actually, ZOS should open up a 2 ticket Cheese Monger EVERY MYM too. Help these players out.

    This Evergloam atm.

Current map of Ash. Just wait until the map changes color to do these scouting quests and always pick another one up on turn on. I really don't see much of a way you would ever run into any PVP.

There are lots of good suggestions here and it should be easy for anyone to manage the tickets during MYM with the information here.

But realistically, 1-10 of these threads pop up during every single MYM and the answers are always the same. Maybe the forum needs an appropriate section for these. Therapeutic venting or something like that...

I only do dailies on three chars during MYM. I don't care about the tickets, I only buy repair kits and I have 200.

I bounce from small town to small town or bounties or scouting missions depending on how often I get killed by a griefer or a ball group.

Blood porting is the fastest way to travel.

And like a told the newbies crying about being killed turning in quests is there are 7 servers one of them will have the place you need. Just leave and try somewhere else.

I enjoy playing Cyrodiil but I really dislike IC, I'll usually prepare 13 daily IC quests before mym. This time I hadn't though, but Cyro queues mean I'll always have some time before I can actually start playing the game, so I go to IC while I'm waiting.

Enter with zero TV, go up the arena ladder, take quest, check your surroundings for enemy ballgroups and wait a minute for them to pass if there are any. Jump down and start releasing prisoners, don't provoke enemy players (a lot of them just doing the quest as well). Sometimes I'll get jumped by a small group of enemies. Just die, respawn and get back to the arena, repeat until the quest is complete, then I find an enemy and let them kill me. I'm happy to let them have half of the 500 or so tel var I have at that point if it gives me a free teleport to base. I started with zero TV, so nothing lost.

Unless you enjoy the ganker or the ballgroup playstyle, IC just isn't fun. But running dungeons for the undaunted event or world bosses for a zone event isn't much fun for a pvp player either, it cuts both ways. Nobody is being forced to do these activities, you can
    • skip the tickets for one event, it doesn't mean you won't have access to the collectibles through the rest of the year.
    • find the most painless way to get your ticket(s): cheese IC arena for mym, FG1 for undaunted, ...
    • create a build that fits the activity, and be open to the idea that you might enjoy it more than you thought (it's how I got started in Cyro).
That being said, I wouldn't mind if zos changed the ticket conditions for mym to doing any form of pvp content. I think there would be less complaints about this event (from everyone, not just the casual/PvE player) if you could get all your tickets doing a single activity (cyro quest/ic quest/battleground).

This approach only works sometimes. It can work and then you can get repeatedly killed an free very few prisoners, often by the same enemies.

You can eventually get the prisoners standing on the safe area of the platform if someone else releases specific ones, but that may take a long time if few are playing, though you can still get quite nuked even during such times by those who seem to play just to do that.

What is with all the toxic messages from players in PvP lately? Every day it seems like I am getting whispers from a losing team complaining about ESO's PvP and how they lost because "ESO's PvP sucks".

If anything, thats the only thing I would complain about people being forced to deal with...the toxic player base in PvP. That or its just bitter PVE players during this event complaining...because ive never seen it this bad before.

I accidentally AFKed the Arena quest today. My elderly neighbor called me asking for help to move a piece of furniture right as I had accepted the quest. I left myself logged on right at the edge of the safe zone. When I came back, I was surprised to see I was at 10/12 prisoners, and the last two spawned just after I sat back down.

I'm not suggesting anyone intentionally AFK this quest, merely pointing out just how easy it is to knock it out without any PVP.

That has been a "recommended" method for quite a while now. I don't think is good for the game overall, but I see no problem doing it, especially if you continually get ganked trying to get off the platform.

About as exciting as waiting for Basaratti (sp?) to respawn in the Caverns (Cyrodiil quest).

I wish ZOS would take things like this seriously and find something that keeps it fun for all, not just a few. Standing around waiting is not compelling gameplay!

Cyrodiil Town Daily: 2 Tickets in roughly 5 minutes.

-Talk to NPC and finish quest, queue for IC
-Deposit all your Tel-Var before going up the stairs

IC Arboretum/Memorial Daily: 1 Ticket in roughly 2 minutes.

-Aggro a few mobs after completing quest and let them kill you. Respawn at safe spot/base and then go talk to NPC and finish quest.

Pick one of the empty No-CP campaigns, 90% of the time you will encounter no PvP at all.

Ah, yes. I was wondering if we would get the obligatory “They’re forcing me to do PvP!” post that we get literally every time this event runs. I don’t hear this complaint about any PvE-focused event, and they make up every other special occasion in this game.

Much harder to do in Cyrodiil if all instances are controlled by a different faction. That happens and makes it really frustrating. And even the "scouting" mission may be at the other side of the map, foolishly so!

All events get challenged on the silly parts. You may like the ganking or not be bothered with it, but many are. I could say the reverse too: "I knew we would get those saying you can skip it (and the tickets, motifs, etc.) if you don't like it.

For future mayhem events, try doing the 6 IC dailies beforehand, but don't turn them in. Turn them in 1 per day during the event. Avoid the crowds during the event. Do this with 2 toons, that's 12 days done, stress free.

That can work, but also requires keeping in mind which character did the quests ahead of time.

I still dislike the "feed the gankers" aspect, but I have participated quite a bit this time, in some cases.

Not as easy to preload in Cyrodiil BTW, since you don't know who will control the map.

What? Pre-loading doesn't matter for Cyrodiil either. There are multiple quests you can hold that don't require you to leave base if you pre-load them. Sure, they do involve PvP, but they can be done in dead campaigns during non MYM. Scout, Conquest(9 RSS/3 Keep), Battle, and Warfront Board can be held until necessary. Heck, I probably have a scroll quest from last year's MYM on a character I'm holding for a rainy day.

Most require doing PvP as you note, something not trivial or even possible for some ahead of time. Sure you could do 15 (or however many) scout missions if you had enough alts, but taking over a castle or even a resource is non-trivial at best.

Some of us also have our quest logs fairly full, playing too many alts, though that could be the case even with a single alt. Keeping multiple quests hanging for a year is not a good idea or even possible in that case.

I will also make a general comment that the prior practice of "die to something in the wild and respawn at a distant keep your side controls" has been "fixed" at some point. You can rez there or at a wayshrine. No choice allowed.

And any event that is "solvable" by doing all its actions ahead of time is a pretty poor event.
