ZOS, Massive Spike in Ping/LAG in Recent Days - What Gives?

    -almost 5 months in, and theres nothing to report. I get its a complex problem and isnt just flicking a switch on and off, but nearing 5 months now (technically its been more, but this thread marks when it first became widespread issues that affected PVE). 5 months and nothing to report. my faith in issues being escalated has been gone since about month 2 when we heard something similar.

    "recent threads" have been redirected here more than once. theyre just containing the noise to one thread as best they can.

    "communicate"

    -Kevin has communicated some, generally has had nothing to communicate though, which, again not shooting the messenger, but nearing 5 months and nothing to communicate? HOW?

    Not trying to be the biggest negative nancy on the forum, but the track record on this is so bad at this point that even if they did come forward and say they have a fix for next patch, I would assume they got some wires crossed and it was a post meant for a different game.

    My wife, sitting across the room from me is not having any issues at all with playing ESO tonight.

    The thing is, since may we have had little to no communication. There is absolutely no way that at a company the size of this it takes FIVE months of constant information being given to only now escalate. It has been 5 months of terrible performance of a service we actively pay for and continue to pay for! It's almost like there is hardly any respect for their paying customers other than a few "we hear you" and "we are looking in to it" posts. I fully understand kevin has no say in the completion of fixes but he's essentially being thrown to the wolves and typing out stall posts! This can not be allowed to be swept under the rug and go on much longer. People are starting to leave and the pve end game groups are starting to disband (it's update 35 all over again) because they can't complete the only thing they do. If you look at steam charts for example about 26% of steam uses have stopped playing since may, this is only steam, think about how many of the other platforms player s have done the same!!

    Didn't someone say earlier that videos only show as having been seen if they have been watched to the very end? How often does anyone do that, and why would the developers necessarily need to?

    Criteria for watching a 'view' to count

    1-A user intentionally initiates the watching of a video.
    2-The user watches it on the platform for at least 30 seconds.
    note: total watch time needs to reach 30 seconds, skipping through a video but totaling 30 seconds still counts. Repeat views only count to a point based on behaviors of viewer.

    my point is, they specifically asked for videos with reports/tickets, and did not watch said video reports, which leads people to wonder why they bother putting forth the effort to help a company diagnose problems, and believe that perhaps the company is not diagnosing the problems.

    One through Epic Games launcher - played for an hour with no issues.

    All accounts use the same add-ons.

    So is it just the ESO launcher that is causing this?

    How could the launcher cause ping problems? You can close the launcher once the game is running. I always do that.

    Perhaps that's why I'm not eating the lag, because I play mine through epic.
    Are they different servers entirely? Because my guildies and zones don't say anything about lag either.
    My only lag now is centurylink, whenever a cloud is nearby within 100 miles.

    I'm convinced the new AI chat monitor is killing performance. Performance was already struggling greatly prior to the implementation of the AI chat monitor. I think the AI chat monitor is, and the saying goes, the straw that broke the camels back.

    Well, now that PTS is on and running, I got my FPS drop down to 40-30s in the city (which used to be 80-60) and the latency is 160s and higher instead of normal 100-110.

    I guess I'm waiting until the PTS is down again before I wanna play and enjoy that process. Which is sad.

    I have been disconnecting multiple times in each playing session in the past few weeks: either the game crashes completely to desktop, or I get an infinite loading screen and get kicked from the server to the log in screen. There's also issues with prolonged high latency (confirmed by others in many groups I've run), rubberbanding, or game freezes and susequent fast forward motion. All these things make playing harder content from frustrating to impossible, and they have been reported and documented for months. Why is it only now they've escalated the issue? It wasn't important 2-3 months ago? And how long do we have to wait for their findings on what's going on, and how long on top of that for them to (successfully) fix it? My gut is telling me that if and when they do something, it's going to be a bandaid solution, because performance has been steadily declining and we never get real solutions. I've been subbing for a long time and generally support the game with the chapters and store, but in truth the content amount, and the content quality has noticeably dropped, and performance is at an all-time low. Plus, I'm not happy with some of their decisions (changing the core usage of cloak after 10 years was the last nail), so I'm cancelling my sub, and it's going to suck, but unless we vote with our wallets, nothing will change.

    1) If they make that much per month then I'm even more pissed off now.
    2) This issue has been going on for me personally (and many many others for over 5 months)
    3) How is this not red alert tier 1 all hands on deck get the network guys and gals some pizza wtf is happening right now?
    4) Agreed, I can count at least 10 people my spouse and I know who are in the same boat and refuse to spend another $ on this game. We also cancelled our subs after 5+ years straight.

    This game is a joke right now and the lack of OFFICIAL acknowledgment of this issue is absolutely ridiculously unacceptable for a company that is in 10 years and has made over $1B.

    Bad look to bet getting puff pieces written about you. If only the articles talked about the "true" state of this game.

    Today I used Group Finder, and a group started. While loading into the dungeon, the game crashed with the "Lost lobby Connection" error message, as others have also posted today, which is a new error for me. I was able to login in and teleport to the group and finished the dungeon fine,

    Seems to me, this new (to me) error message means this situation is getting worse.

    Its common knowledge that ESO makes a lot of money for ZOS. It was even announced by Matt Firor at GDC 2024 that ESO had made more than $2 billion in customer spend. I would imagine it's much more than $15m/month now.

    it took like 8 years for them to even update servers from 2012 to something more modern in 2022. But alot of the community complaints are just not prioritized or downplayed and ignored. We dont get any communication or updates on how their investigation is going, it just continues to get swept under the rug, hoping that after events things just get forgotten until the next event that causes these issues again.

    Like It's so bad that we cant even complete content that we set time aside from our family and friends to do. we are paying money in expansions, crowns, eso+, and have expectations that what we are paying for works. is that too much to ask?

    Interesting you should mention that because I often get booted from the server and then get the error message that I'm spamming too many messages, but I'm not even chatting. I'm just checking mail or using banks when it happens. This is an old issue, but it's popped up again with the recent patches and it's happening more and more.

    People will say it's because add-ons are pinging the server too much, but this happens on console too.
