I tried if it is possible to prefarm daylies and did multiple dayli delve/world bass/event quests.

On the same char, you can only turn in one of each kind. There is not only a cd for alts, there is also a cd for the type on each char.

So, each day, you can turn in 1 delve, 1 wb, 1 event, 1 fighters guild, 1 mage guild, 1 undaunted.
And most likely 1 cyradil quest and 1 imperial city (I do not pvp, so can not say fo sure).

And that's it. This is the maximum per day for your account. So it will take 10 days to get all affix scripts (less with pvp).

I must admit, the "new feature" turns into something I no longer care for. As this would force me to do 100 days of boring *** to get all my chars done.

    Yes.

I figured it would be grindy, not really applicable to most situations, and more RP content than useful.

Outside of a handful of use cases, that is where it sits. The damage abilities are largely useless because they're not as good as class or normal guild skills.

One or two of them shine in specific configurations in PvP (maybe too much so LOL), and a couple of them are useful for endgame tanks and healers, and one is a good spammable for sorcs.

    Otherwise... RP only.

I was curious about a cooldown so went and did all 28 Cyro Town Dailies today because they're fast enough and many enough to judge if thats true or how bad the RNG is if its not. There was no CD for me and although there is some RNG involved, out of 28 boxes i dropped 10 Signature Scripts. I then went and did another 6 World Boss Dailies to see if thats just the Cyro Dailies - and got another 3 out of those. So maybe it was changed already - or idk why yall got nothing after your first box.

Also, i used all Scripts immediately and only got new ones after. So they seem to be curated aswell.

it might be similar to uncracked geodes from rewards of the worthy, guarantee for your first box, but only a chance after that

if you got a box on your first cyro daily and first WB daily, and then the other ones were random after that, it might be a good theory to start with lol

They are more considerate of how much players are willing to pay to not do it. I've refused to purchase skill-line upgrades since they introduced them on the grounds that it is abhorrent to me that I should reward someone for making a bad game and then also pay money to not play the game that I'm supposed to be enjoying. Many others either don't have this view or don't have the discipline to say no. This is the result of those poor decisions they've made. As other have said above, expect crown store relief some time in the future.

im kind of similar, i refuse to buy anything thats considered "consumable" or something that is only applied for 1 individual character

would include the crown food, poisons, tripots, dye stamps, mount riding lessons, skill lines, skyshards, outfit slots, armory slots

the crown furnishings are also off-putting with how expensive they are, i only got the aetherial well and trial dummy on a sale, i want to get the mundus stones but 4000 crowns per mundus stone and theres like 12 of them, thats 48,000 crowns worth for only 1 house

The OP made multiple negative mentions of just how much it's going to cost, due to it being character bound, not account, so I made a quick remark based on the general consensus of how players feel about how little they have to spend gold on.

And no I didn't read every post in the thread and no, I don't participate in the PTS.

So if I only want to be able to use a sort of minimum scribing how much gold and how many quests will I need for one character? Just a ballpark will do. And how much of the hideously low drop rate ink?

On the console just trying to get an idea of what sort of resources I will need. On the console 400k is a *lot* of gold. ANd my patience for grinding was used up on the style pages. It may be next year before I'm up for hours at a time again.

If these skills, with these pre-requisites to even create them, are so tedious to do and expensive, then they in theory, should be stronger than other skills, considering many factors already mentioned in this thread, as well as, class skills are base, these you gotta work for and pay for. The reward should be better than the base class skills, RIGHT?

It's like buying a base mount, compared to an apex mount, the resources, time, effort required, changes the value, visual etc.

Yet these skills are weaker, the class affixes in most cases don't even match the class (charm on warden? is it a kitsune o vampire?)

All that aside, or factored in....

add in, "not account wide" then add in "featured in crown store"

Then wonder, is this a way to make people have less alts and stick to a main?
Then, proceed to get more coffee and touch grass. Ok bye.

I have been vocal about the tediousness of mythic lead grinds in the past, but scribing seems far worse.
Also, what is the logic behind account shared daily quest cooldowns when the scripts are charachter specific?
What is the point of introducing this otherwise fun new system, hyping it up, and then making it take forever before we can even meaningfully interact with the system?
@ZOS_GinaBruno could we please get some clarifications on some of the concerns pointed out in this thread?

Like most games, it's to slow down the initial wave of no-lifers, and to inflate their playtime engagement metrics. I'd wager these sort of tedious grind barriers backfire more and more these days as more and more players refuse to have their time wasted. The average gamer isn't a 20yo no-lifer anymore, especially on ESO we're often 30-40yo with jobs and families, we don't need our video games adding another 12+ hours to our work weeks on top of the $40 we paid for the game itself.

Is this how everyone envisioned Spellcrafting?

@SilverBride Nope. Scribing is the “modern” version and not a crafting feature. Instead it’s a system based on yearly content grind releases like Companions, Tales of Tribute, or Antiquities.

Spellcrafting pretty much worked as described below:
    1. Acquisition: After completing the Mages Guild skill line, you access Eyevea where you are able to engage with a Spellcrafting station.
    2. General Process: Seek out Ancient Doorways scattered throughout Tamriel to discover ancient Spell Tablets. Engage in a mini game of sketching the runes of these tablets into an interactable catalogue book of illustrations that you carried around. This is how you achieve gaining a “Base” skill effect for future use, such as Conjure Flame Atronach, Muffle, Lightning Bolt, Oakflesh, Conjure Familiar, etc.
    3. Skill Lines: Base skills effects are used for Spells which fall under FIVE new skill lines. These skill lines are the schools of magic: Destruction, Restoration, Conjuration, Illusion, Alteration.
    4. Crafting: Go to a Spellcrafting table where you craft spells. There are at least three different parts to this. We know about a Base effect for the ability (like Lightning Bolt), a Focus effect that alters the ability’s effects (such as become a DoT, have reduced cost, gain a cast time for more power, become an Ultimate, etc), and a Potency/Quality for its strength (white, green, blue, purple, gold, as well as level requirements). Not dissimilar to Enchanting.
    4. Economy: We don’t know the source of materials but it might have worked aimilar to how Furnishing materials work, so you could acquire Tablet materials from harvesting nodes such as Ores. Spellcrafting Materials and even full Crafted Spell Tablets would be Bind on Equip. In other words it would play a role in the ingame market.

And lastly, just some extra speculation, they could have added all sorts of Single Use Consumable Spell Scrolls at vendors throughout Tamriel to let you cast various abilities without crafting them, similar to past Elder Scrolls games.

Scribing looks fun to play around with but is much more limited in scope compared to original Spellcrafting. Also the grinding part of Scribing and the lack of market interaction/bridges into cool stuff like spell Scrolls in past TES games is really unfortunate and understandably puts a damper on the mood of things for a lot of people.

It's possible the cooldown is guaranteed drop first time then RNG.

Since it's the PTS, many of us didn't run it enough times for the RNG to lead to success.

I believe I did 4x for one and stopped so it's possible I just got unlucky.

Someone ran a bunch of Cyrodiil dallies and did get a decent number of drops.

Since we are on EU copy now, I can't retest it without running the quest again and I am not really interested in doing it at the moment.

I assume the Warden one is most likely related to Faun's Lark Cladding ''charm''. I think that was the first time ''charm'' was introduced into the game and I guess it kind of makes sense with Wardens being defenders of the forest and a nature-themed class.

After having tested this, if it goes live in its current form, I can only see it being viable if ZOS is planning on actually paying us a stipend for engaging with the new system.

As in, they are planning on turning ESO into a 'get paid to play' game.

i paid for content, i should not need to pay for skill lines i paid $ for. sure a quick quest to get it going is fine, but anything more is crap. it should be like vamp or werewolf where you do a quest and then just level up. like all other guild skill lines. you can max it in hours if you want.

I just watched Skinny's video about the system, and while I don't feel it is as bad because of the rotating vendor inventories, since I'll just not bother with a specific thing until I can just buy it on all the characters who I would want to use the thing on, I'm glad I don't care about the class specific bonuses because that grind seems laughable. So many collectibles I've ignored because they require grinding several dozen 'things' to combine and make into the item, if this is how the class specific things will be provided, I'd rather just ignore them.

So, while antiquities got me to engage with other areas of the game to get and then dig up specific items, this system just screams at me 'gamble your time away or just don't play and buy later,' and I'm just going to buy the upgrades as the vendors provide them, I can't justify throwing away that much time just for metrics.
