[Jubilee Event] - Drop rates are a joke

Over 100 geysers in Summerset, 100 World Bosses in Vvardenfell, countless dolmens and still no event pages. I have nothing against farming when it's reasonable but this RNG is getting infuriating. Not to mention that you can't trade the pages or buy them with gold or tickets.

I feel like it's always one extreme or the other when it comes to loot. You either get it super easily or it will take tens of hours.
And please let people do what they want with their loot, especially if it's only a style page or a skin. This should be a part of your "Play however you want" philosophy.

my friend have style from boss in vvardenfell (around 1-2h farm). I spend over 10h boss farm and have nothing. I think something broken here.

Yes the drop rates for the WB, Geysers are pretty bad, but TBH I've gotten a ton of really great style pages from the event boxes. I'm pretty happy with that.

It is frustrating if you really want the special items, but those aren't the only things available...

Those 5 Style Pages are *BOUND* and can not be sold!

The only hope you may have is, that they will be made available at a later date (eg. next year) through the event vendor for tickets. BUT(!), I wouldn't count on that. I do think they are event exclusive!


Regarding the drop rates. Its really pure and really bad RNG .

I, for example, did 72 geysers in Summerset and 28 dolmens in Auridon yesterday and got nothing. In Vvardenfell I did 5 WBs and got both Style Pages.

The one from fishing I haven't tried yet!

The trouble with any RNG is, there will always be outliers.

And those outliers come on the forums to tell us all about it - skewing the numbers and creating more bias for anyone who'd begin.

Personally, I did 40 minutes of Geysers, didn't get it, went and fished and in TWO fishing spots... caught the style motif from there so...

How do you know it's bad RNG and not YOU PERSONALLY SUFFERING?
All RNG is bad when you consider the idea that not everybody will get them - you went in thinking rng meant eventually you will, and no, that's not how numbers work.

The bigger issues is they're bound, not the RNG - complain about them being bound and unlucky people having no way of getting them instead!

200+ Geysers and nothing, i guess i'll try it again next week when less people are farming. That shouldn't affect anything but you never know.

I got the geysir page very quickly (< 10 geysirs) so I got really lucky here. Now I struggle with wb motif like everybody else...

I really think for certain items they should have step wise increase of drop rate. For instance if page did not drop after N1 attemps drop rate is increased by 50% or so and if after N2 still no drop again a rise of 50% of drop rate applied to the recalculated drop rate (making it a drop rate of 1.5*(1.5* base drop rate)

The drop rates are a pain and I think it is not only because of outlier experience. Talking right now to the people doing the vvardenfell wb grind. They confirm this. Some had to do significantly more than 100 geysirs for a drop.

At least you can do a geysir run where you travel to the active gaysir when you see it on the map. This is not possible for boss farming runs.

The question I would love ZOS to ask themselves would be "is this fun?"

There are people in zone chat and here saying they have spent a very long time grinding geysers, so far with no success or lets be honest ..... challenge.

What is your measure of success here ZOS? You have loads of people grinding away and sure, you can say "People online is up" or "hours played per account is up" but are people engaged with doing geysers runs in a circle for hours on end, most of the time not getting loot for the boss as there is far more than 12 players hitting it.

No, nobody is forcing me to do it, yes it is just a cosmetic knick knack.

I am not but hurt in any way but I am sure there is a meeting room somewhere in ZOS where they pat themselves on the back for a job well done based on the data which can be spun in a very positive way. I am hoping there is at least one voice int he room asking "this is a game, are people enjoying themselves?"

This is how it goes when Zos making rng drops not tradeable, players get frustration and have to spend hours doing same thing over and over.

The event is almost 3 weeks long so I can understand the low droprate but do people think its fun killing a wb for 3 weeks? Lol

Even if the 150+ tries with no style page are outliers, they simply shouldn't happen. It's bad design.

Especially considering there's no money lost if people obtain the page early (or at all), so you can't even justify it with them wanting to sell it.😉

Even with the event being 20 days, at these drop rates many of us will not be able to get them all.

Maybe if there was an increase in chance of getting it the more days you try, so if you do at least X WB's (or dolmen or geysers) on a day, the chance of it dropping will be increased for you the next day. So that on the final day, you are certain to get it.

Hypergeometric distribution? So 50* balls in a bag, 49 white, one red. Every time you complete the task (e.g., a geyser) you draw a ball at random. If it's red, then great, you get the drop. If it's white that ball is discarded, so now there are 48 white balls and the red. The probability goes up every time you fail, until eventually you must succeed.

Requires more load on the servers for all the tracking, so only really for special events like now. Hard to know how that compares to the fact they currently have to track *far* too many dudes in one spot chasing standard RNG.

Edit: the 50* number is just an example, obviously.

Tbh worst jubilee event out of all of the jubilee events.

If they wanted to make 10th jubilee memorable. They’ve definitely succeeded. Just in a bad way.

if the items are even returning next year. You cant buy them now with tickets so doubt you'd be able to do so in the future.

Outliers are players too.

Their experiences mean just as much as those who get all their pages more or less immediately and as everyone in between. It is not bias to see how many people are finding it so frustrating to get these pages and to sympathize with them and to struggle with the result.

If everyone here on the forum and in my friends lists and in guild chat and in zone chat talking about how painful they’re finding this grind are all “outliers,” I also really have to question why there are so many before the week is out. How many more players won’t get these pages at all, as you said?

It took me at least 20 hours to get all five pages, and I’m on the lucky side compared to just about every player on my friends or guilds lists who’s trying for these. I was frustrated for myself, but I’m sadder for them. This is not what a celebratory event should feel like for anyone. I don’t want my friends and guildmates feeling this way because of a FOMO mechanic in a game. The worse these types of things get, the less that people will want to play. That’s the opposite of driving engagement.

If there is a chance (and it seems like there is a big one here) that people will not get what was set in front of them as a collectible for the event even though they are putting in the time, that creates eminently avoidable frustration and upset. Why is that a thing? And why is that a thing during a 10th anniversary event? That is not a way to celebrate.

Your last paragraph would have forestalled this, and it was proposed by players on the PTS. But it was not incorporated into the live version, so it was not seen as a solution in ZOS’ eyes. This is the result of that.

For the 10th anniversary, they should have made the drop rates very generous. Not "you get it right away", but check for 10x or something and then make it happen. Without us, the players, there wouldn't be a 10th anniversary. Just once, ZOS could have made it reasonable. The RNG in this game is extremely punishing, so it would have been nice if just once they were generous as a thank you.
