STOP spell Radiant (templar)

It's time to say stop to this incredibly abused spell of the templier that even the assassin doesn't have a spell as powerful as that.

The damage of this spell is too abused and too easy to abuse in pvp to easily steal the kill of another person.

We must reduce the damage of this absurd attack, damage that we should rather find on an assassin and not a templier this class is more assassin than the assassin class lol...

Come on, guys, it's been only months since it's shocked to see 500% damage to a templier?

Bruh, this reads like a rage post, OP.

    1. Using an ability in the game to be used is not 'cheating'.
    2. You have given 0 facts to back up ANY of your claims. No objective facts. Just 'This is OP because I said so, fix it.'
    3. What does other classes damage potential have to do with Templar's damage potential? You're arbitrarily deciding 'Nothing should be stronger than Assassin. Anything that is, is broken.' and deciding the devs should 'fix' what you subjectively see as a flaw.

ITT: OP fails to understand what an execute ability is

Basically you gotta whittle the target down to at least 50% health before you see even 1% of that bonus damage, and given the beams current state having that happen to you just from the beam itself means you're eaither squishy or doing something wrong very, very wrong.

ALso you have to factor in the fact that, well, the skill is on templar, you know, that class with pretty damn terrible mobility, so it's not too hard to LoS them

So…your complaint isn’t that the beam is overpowered. It’s that the ability isn’t on a NB and being used to delete people from stealth. Which isn’t valid because you can sneak on any class. NB is just better at it.

Besides, at this point the Jesus Beam is pretty much all the Templar has left. Templar PvP gameplay boils down to a desperate fight to get the opponent down to execute range by any means necessary, then beam.

But I tell you what. You want to take away beam? Fine. We’re going to need our jabs and damage passives back, please and thank you. Otherwise, grin and bear it.

    Greetings,

After further review we have decided to move this thread to a category we think is more appropriate for this topic, as it relates to a character skill.

    Thank you for your understanding

<sarcasm>"We must reduce the damage of this absurd attack, damage"

We must reduce the damage of this absurd attack, damage!

Instead all pull abilities lead to hugs!

Any charge abilities lead to kisses

(of course is this all consenting)

All armor and spell resistances are against charismatic charm.

    Penetration...well...
    </sarcasm>

No, change nothing. Play the game and learn to exploit the weaknesses!

@Alharion I feel the same way about DKs and NBs....overpowered and unfair. I HEAR YOU! Please take this as advice, not an attack.

So I learned to block, dogeroll and heal like crazy.

    Next thing:

"Burn an enemy with a ray of holy fire, dealing 3219 Magic Damage over 1.8 seconds. Deals up to 500% more damage to enemies below 50% Health. "

Don't get below 50%. Get your buffs on! Block, and heal.

I have seen characters get hit by Radiant Oppression, under 50% and they walk away, just fine. They are SKILLED players.

How long have you been in Pvp?

For the first year of PvP...all I did was die. Now, I die a lot, but less. I rely on my skills and groups.

Become a Templar - they have some of the most solid healing EVER! Go 1h&Shield. Get your pots ready, get your resistances up!

Soon that beam will just be a spotlight, and you will laugh it off!

Seriously, I wish you good luck and tons of PvP enjoyment!

    Now about NBs and DKs....

The beam really doesn't fit what would be considered a traditional assassin attack. An assassin wants to get in quick and get back out. The beam is not quick nor sneaky.
It is good for stealing kills though, you are right about that. Pretty much any ranged single target attack is good for stealing kills though.

    This.

Eso, especially eso pvp, is a skill game first. I can't tell you how many people ppl i see in chat saying "I need set x because i always die in pvp" or "I'm farming skill line y because I can't kill anyone in pvp". I used to think the same when I first started pvp in this game, but once I had the sets and skill lines, I still struggled. Then I thought it was the cp difference. I farmed xp until I was high enough cp, and still struggled. Finally I looked up some builds and decided to build out a dk, since they're supposed to be OP. I managed to stay alive a bit longer on that char, but guess what, I still struggled.

The truth was that the main difference between me and experienced players was, well, experience. I started to pvp about 1.5 years ago, which means I was up against opponents with up to eight years of experience. Those players knew their class, could weave and barswap without thinking, and knew when to block/dodge or just get out of sight. No amount of broken sets or OP classes/builds was going to give me an advantage against them.

By now I'm able to survive a lot of fights, and even score a kill here and there. But my experience is still no match against ppl who have now played up to almost ten years. So I still die a lot, and that's ok. It's human to look for external reasons to justify our own failures, but the truth is, most of the times I die it's because I made mistakes or my opponent was just better.

Just play the game, die, figure out what went wrong and how it could have been avoided. Repeat over and over again, and you'll get there. There will always be OP or broken sets/classes/skills/mechanics in this game, but there will also be a way to counter them.

I play PVP all the time and I UNDERSTOOD THAT IT WAS AN EXECUTION SPELL, but it's far too powerful a finisher for a Templar. The assassin's finisher clearly isn't as effective.

After all, I know how hard it is to defend something that's so cheater and easy to use...

It's still pretty easy to get a target down to 50% with a templar, We're in the middle of the killer ray......

Just because someone is using an ability correctly doesn’t make them a cheater. I play PvP all the time and get hit with this all the time, you have to learn to counter it.

The Templar beam heavily relies on Line of Sight so as soon as you’re hit with it, do whatever your burst heal is and get out of that players line of sight and you should be fine.

I play sorc, temp, and i used to pvp with my blade. It is however, my main. With thousands of hrs on that one toon. Im here to tell you that radiant is not an issue. Nbs kit is still overall more powerful and it is by far the most common death on my recap. Why: welp blade can easily and quickly get you to execute range. Templar is much, much more difficult, the execute balances that a little. They depend on knockbacks because they dont have the power outright. If you got an opponent with good awareness who can roll dodge with decent timing you are gonna be given a serious run for your money. Super tanky builds like wardens and dks, your gonna have a hard time getting them to execute. Nb- guaranteed crit out of stealth, concealed, merciless, impale, your dead if they get a combo on you. Lets just talk raw damage to get to execute here: I can parse 110k on my blade without using any execute at all. Templar is in the 80s without execute. This is a skill issue my friend. I play templar because its fun and challenging, not because its op. Same with sorc. There are way to combat every class, some are tougher then others and templar is not one of them. You need more time in pvp and id recommend you save your povs and look at your positioning and such when your dying. I mean: i gotta ask. Have you actually played templar in pvp to compare it?

Once again: It is not cheating to use an ability that is in the game, just because you personally don't like said ability.
You have still given 0 objective facts about Templars, or why it's 'cheating' for them to be better than Assassins (If they even are).
You have not backed up any of your claims. You are still deciding Assassins are the top of the hill, and anything that goes against your subjective view is somehow 'cheating' and OP.

The best way to counter beam is to be proactive and be aware of your surroundings.

The damage is 3 ticks over a 2 second channel. Interrupt them, stun them, break line of sight. DO NOT just run, or try to block, or out heal it. Once I see someone start a beam, I either step around a corner to break line of sight, or I jump on a stun! I find Shielded Assault to be pretty good to heal up quickly out of execute range and stun. Mass Hysteria or Hidden Blade could be good for NB builds.

Is it strong? Yes. Does it have counterplay? Also, yes.

You can't nerf it too much, no more than 10% at full damage. It would be too weak in PvE.

In PvP it's perfectly fine. It hurts, and a nerf could happen without too much notice. It doesn't feel very good when ur target manages to block its damage and heal through it back to full. I'd rather have one like mages wrath TBH that you throw it up and use burst to drop to 25%

My point was we sitting here talking about how op the temp supposedly is in pvp forgetting completely when it was actually op. Literally the entire forum for pvp is complains about how every class is op except sorc and necro. To quote sharp "skill issue"

Temp only has jbeam. Every skill we have there's a skill somewhere else that does it better. Maybe except HTD and practiced incantation...

-Sweeps? Decent...I'd rather have a burst skill though.
-Dark flare? Snipes better, crystal frags are better.
-Purge? I don't know, maybe it's good. It's a waste of magic IMO. I havnt run it in years and don't even notice it's gone except my mag isn't as pressured.
-Crescent sweep? Feels good but I'd rather have incap.
-Nova? Would be AMAZING if I could synergies my own skill, otherwise it's only used for the debuff.
-Blazing spear? Nothing special. Other class skills are on par.
-Javelin? Eh this one's pretty good. Deals really good damage, good range and hard to break. DK stun and arc stun is better IMO.
Vamps bane? On par with others nothing special. The crit bonus is useless in 90% of builds.
-Living dark? This one's gonna cause hate, I've tested it extensively...it's trash. Decent 1v1 but falls apart in outnumbered situations. I'd rather have old total dark back. I hate this skill.
Blazing shield? Don't make me laugh.
-jbeam? Absolutely amazing...only reason we even can get high DPS in pve. In PvP it's God mode.
-purifying light? Trash tier burst skill. Worst out of the lot for class skills in pvp. I can't justify the stress of using it in pve for a measly 4k dps increase and slot.

With how much damage we lack we need something, if your health gets low enough to die to jbeam by a templar 1v1 that you should reevaluate your build.

Yeah, well... on the other hand, you know what is far common? 10k-15k Incap + 15-25k Merciless proc regardless of resistances. So... why stop at Templar? Why don't we nerf those abilities by 50% too as you suggested? They are an 'assassin' class, not 'terminator'. ;)
