Necromancer: class form feedback

    Since sorc has been brought up — was the response really that sorc cannot be good at everything??? That’s fair enough if a reason for not providing certain utilities like a class burst heal, but why must sorc DPS be reliant on pets??? What about those cool lightning and dark magic skill lines? I wanted to be a storm mage and strike down my foes with lightning. :(

    Yes, that was indeed their actual response to the issues sorc was facing in U35/U36 (when sorc was in as bad, if not worse state than necro is currently, like kill sorc quests in PvP were literally auto-abandoned because nobody was playing the class then levels of bad).

    Since that one response, there has been absolute radio silence on any of the feedback that was even remotely related to sorc (including the woeful and unusable release state of the class set from EA Monolith of Storms).

    I hope for Cro mains that the class gets the buffs it needs, but as a no-pet sorc that indeed wants to strike my foes down with lightning and dark magic, I would not be holding out any form of hope. Once something has been decided to no longer be viable, that's it, it's not coming back. The state of the sorc class set is the final thread of proof of this.

    Some insight
    The most recent no-pet build I could find was from well over 6 months ago (pre-nekrom) and it barely parsed 110k (build was the standard meta of pillar + rele + kilt + monster set). Every current sorc build out there is either a heavy attack build or a pet build. A traditional build LA weaving build that doesn't use pets, just simply doesn't exist for sorc anymore.

    The trad build??? 😞 that's my build!!! But then I'm pretty rubbish lol. Sure as not in triple figure dps. But i like it. So there. We can't be good at anything-- opps "everything"...

    I'd hop back onto my magcro (my old main) if the class wasn't so painful to play. Hype carried the class to Blackwood for me, but upon running some solo dlc dungeons with the other classes, I began to realise exactly what I had given up for my magcro.

    The class could have the highest dps in the game and people would still not want to play it because it is simply too clunky to be fun for most people. It needs a rework.

    I agree with all of the major points here. I love necro. It's the only reason I play ESO at all. It feels terrible. Please fix it ZOS.

    The easiest changes they could make is reverse all of the nerfs they made to Necro. Major Vulnerability was the reason Necro was so used when it released, now there are other sources of the buff.

    And give the class a source of Major Brutality/Sorcery so you can actually slot Necro skills instead of needing multiple old Mages Guild/Fighter Guild skills to get essential buffs that are built into other classes.

    I would also like to comment on how atrocious the ability "Life Amid Death" is . Along with both of its morphs, it is virtually usless, super clunky and is unused by all builds whether it be PVE healers, PVP healers etc.

    I actually think that ability is one of the best looking visually in the game when it consumes a corpse, I love using it in pvp/pve.

    Why does the class have two skills to remove negative effects? Necromancer`s have been getting neglected for awhile now and I rarely see them used in groups. I have a raid lead that will only allow the Necromancer role in the group is an Elemental Catalyst.

    Visually and thematically its great I agree. Viable and rewarding though... not so much.

    Sorry guys this is all my fault; heard about Hybridization(didn't know it wasn't finished) so I renewed my eso plus and spent money to get the lich polymorph and the lich lantern lights memento so I could live out my necromancer power fantasy so ZoS probably thinks necro is fine cause I spent money...

    I've said it before but the Empowering grasp CC which is clearly supposed to be necro's main cc, should be a conal CC around the caster like how Dragonknight Talons is.

    It can still have the outward pulsing effect, but make it work as a conal ability instead of a straight line. The first patch snares, second patch immobilizes, and the last patch of arms stuns the target. Would be a lot like DK talons but be way more reliable for Necromancer offense than how it works currently

    And for the love of Mannimarco, give the "Empower Pets" bonus just for having the ability on bar or on cast regardless of a hit or miss.

    Having to hit your pets to give them the bonus makes it blatantly clear whoever designed the skill has never tried to hit their pets with it in actual combat.

    Pets position themselves at your flank. How on Nirn do you expect me to hit an enemy in front of me if you're encouraging me to turn around and hit my pet with the ability to give them a meager 1k extra healing/damage? Not to even mention that a missed cast is over 4k magicka down the toilet.

    This would change nothing, the skill would still be terrible.
    The issues with Grave grasp are: it takes one full second to deploy so you'll never hit someone aware of your presence, the only time I landed it/saw it landing was on players already busy fighting someone else.
    Second issue is the last patch (that takes a second to appear) is the only one that stuns, it spawns at an awkward distance (something like 15m away from the caster) so it's impossible to land on another melee player focusing you.

    Just make it single target, copypaste the Rune cage code on it and call it a day, sorc players *** on that skill but it's still more than useable, at worst it forces opponents to dodge roll.
    And give the empowering grasp's pet buff a radial check centered on the caster since some people are so focused on it to the point they forget it's just a secondary effect of one morph of what is supposed to be a CC first...
    Balanced by people with no prior gamedev experience, couldn't fix performance issues in a decade, can't code a real matchmaking algorithm to save their lives, more maintenance downtime than all the other MMOs put together, more bugs introduced than bugs fixed every big patch, same stagnant combat for years.
    Done with Elder Joke Online: 2 seconds of input delay on "70" ping edition.

    In PvP it's the only secondary effect, so yah, I'm hung up on it because morphing the skill either way does effectively nothing to the ability in PvP.

    Yes, necromancer will get several buffs soon! (copium) :mrgreen:

    I'm more interested in seeing what, if any changes they make to necro more than seeing what the new chapter feature is >.>

    Some werewolf updates would be equally as satisfying, but it feels like the team has abandoned it completely.

    I still play this game as a Werewolf player, though I haven't played my Necromancer Werewolf much lately. I've been keeping watch for any balance changes that might improve Necromancer Werewolf, such as passives no longer requiring Class abilities to be slotted. Such changes would also benefit regular Necromancer playstyles via freeing up bar space.

    Please give us Werewolf Skill Styles (for customizing our fur color), Grimoires/Scribing skills (to fill in the holes in our builds), and Companions (to transform with).

    Seeing scribing and how all classes will have "good" access to all elements.

    I fear my only dps spot will be taken by someone who can preform far superior in that place...

    Even now off-tank spot is dwindling since there is easy access to major vulnerability.

    The only thing that keeps them holding on. Is the ability to tank "dots"...

    Started ESO - Oct 2020

    Necro Main
    Tank main from 300cp - 1200cp at which point I switched to DPS - I was 100k on every class except werewolf. I cleared 115k on necro, but I am completely done with parsing. My hands won't let me anymore. Lucky there is still heavy attack and arcanist options available. Otherwise I would possibly have to give up eso entirely.

    Necromancer seriously needs some improvements — if not by this update, then definitely by next update on the launch of the Gold Road Chapter. I'm hopeful that this upcoming PTS cycle will have some beneficial changes by Week 1 or Week 3, though.

    Nothing like having my Blastbones just stay there floating in the air because some trash mobs in IA decided to spam Negate.

    What's that, you casted the skill outside of the Negate field? Blastbones doesn't care
    What's that, you want to cast the skill again so maybe it works this time? Sorry, only 1 BB active at a time

    When was the last time you casted (insert other class skill) from OUTSIDE a Negate field and it decided to just not work?
    When was the last time you casted (insert other class skill) and somehow it got stunned or knocked back/down?
