Amusing Nightblade bug

There seems to be a bug with the Nightblade Master Assassin passive. Instead of becoming active when you FLANK an enemy, it activates when you attack an enemy from the SOUTH (technically also from East and West, since the flanking zone is pretty generous). I tested on different dummies and in various houses.

On a separate note, the Backstabber CP seems to be always on, no matter where you attack the enemy from. Not the same issue, but could be related.

The "south" bug has been here for a long time and was mentioned in several threads before. You can check your pen bonus in your character window, the number changes in real time depending on which direction your character is facing.

I find it hilarious that ZOS is still balancing sets and skills when the game is soo buggy. If they fixed all these bugs with class passives and skills, it'd create soo many ripples that everything else will become destabilized and need rebalanced.

Lol, I didn't know this. I find it funny that someone in the dev team was looking up what variable to put into a certain algorithm and landed on "South" instead of "Rear" or "Flank" or something.

Funniest part is that they could have tested it extensively and depending on how the enemy or dummy was placed it would have appeared to be working perfectly.

In fact, I reported this bug in the forums last May, and someone else found it much earlier as well, but it has yet to receive a response from dev, let alone a fix.

I suspect this bug has existed since the game was released and has been mysteriously ignored, lol

Mysteriously ignored? Or too difficult to fix? Can players confirm that "Attacking from Flank" works correctly on other skills/passives? I assume that if Camouflaged Hunter wasn't working correctly, other players would find it.

If this is a systemic issue, then it may be too hard to fix. If this is a bug unique to Master Assassin passive, then it may just be that the devs are unaware.

Question #10324 for ZOS: "Do you record bugs internally? How can players know if something is on your backlog of things to fix in Q3 or we are just being ignored?"

Is wonder if it has to do with position desync being absolutely awful. In that case, is go from facepalm to appreciative that they at least try to make things work

Also, can we confirm this is a bug outside of player homes and target dummies? Reading through all the multiple places this bug has bee recorded, and the youtube videos, it's always being tested and demonstrated inside a house. Can someone test this in overland? Inside a dungeon? It COULD just be a bug inside housing.

Interesting that this is an old bug. It did seem vaguely familiar to me, so maybe I previously saw the posts from Lykeion and/or others, but I wasn't sure. Anyway my target dummy has been in the same spot on live and PTS for years, and the pen was never missing before, so clearly something has changed.

Maybe the cause is the new dummy reset function (which is an awesome feature, by the way).

I'll see if I can test it in content, but the fact that not ALL dummies are affected suggests it is just a housing bug. But even if that's the case, it still matters enough that I wanted to report it. I don't want Nightblades getting all sad because they don't know why their DPS is a bit low!

Good luck getting this fixed. There is a game breaking bug that causes my NB to lose all stamina recovery every time it gets in a fight and uses cloak. It happens on both PC and PS no matter what sets I'm wearing or what food/drink I've taken. The only way to get it back is to relog or change instances (go into a delve or cheesemongers hollow) but it just comes right back again. It's been that way for literally YEARS and no matter how many times I report it or how many threads I create I've never even been able to get a Dev to acknowledge it let alone try to fix it.
