Maintenance for the week of November 4:
• [COMPLETE] ESO Store and Account System for maintenance – November 6, 9:00AM EST (14:00 UTC) - 6:00PM EST (23:00 UTC)
Tales of Tribute really got me excited as I loved Gwent in The Witcher 3. But after trying to wrap my brain around the game, I've given up on it. So I'm a bit more cautious on buying anything when it first comes out.
New class, new zone, new trial. I'd say it's worth it for the amount of time I'll put into it. Even though I didn't particularly care about High Isle's big new feature, I still put enough time into it to make it worth the cost.
I don't care about companions, trials, dungeons and generic quest lines just like previous chapters, i only like the new class but not gonna pay a chapter price for a class. If it was cool skill lines to use in all of my current characters, or good pvp content that can bring back pvp players, it may be worthed.
There's no 'I've no idea' option. Haven't played it, how would I know? You get a new class and that's cool, and the idea behind it seems very cool, but without playing, can't say.
Given that base ESO, which comes with 21 zones and 24 dungeons for $20 USD (yes, I understand the price is low due to age) I feel the price for a single zone doesn't match up. They're $40 USD or go for 3,000 crowns a year later, but without giving access to what you'd get if you buy it directly, or if you use ESO+.
In some areas these chapters are extremely expensive. I have a friend who lives in Australia. A chapter is $70 for her. Given that Chapters are twice the price of the base game and locked away from sub users for a year I think that Chapters are over priced. The issue with Chapters being excluded from ESO+ for one year is also bad practice as the Q4 dlcs we had in years past with the sub but not the main Chapter. It ruins continuity and makes stories make even less sense.
I could understand the price if it wasn't for the Crown Store. If all zones were cheaply priced I doubt ZOS's revenue would hardly be hit as the majority of revenue comes from Crown sales.
The prices of Chapters is close to the price of new release games, and Chapters don't have that level of content.
I obviously can't comment on Necrom yet, but I liked the chapters that were released thus far. Granted, High Isle had problems regarding its story and not a lot of content, but I still liked the zone a lot. So far, no regrets.

"Nothing is so bad that it can't get any worse." (Brazilian saying)
Ill buy it just to have it. But they missed the mark for me. I don't like chapter specific classes (they always seem dated after the next chapter and they really don't add anything to game play that isn't already there). I would prefer a skill line but even that's no guarantee (see the psjics ) I don't care much for tentacles more then likely ill shut down the account for 6-12 months before i come back. High isles was a bore i am glad i waited to get that and was able to finish it off in a few weeks rather then wait for each piece of crap to come out.
Difficulty scaling is desperately needed. 9 years. 6 paid expansions. 25 DLCs. 41 game changing updates including A Realm Reborn-tier overhaul of the game including a permanent CP160 gear cap and ridiculous power creep thereafter. I'm sick and tired of hearing about Cadwell Silver&Gold as a "you think you do but you don't"-tier deflection to any criticism regarding the lack of overland difficulty in the game.
new zone, new class, two new companions, new furniture, hopefully new houses, new trial, new tales of tribute deck, new antiquities, apocrypha, and the usual quality of life improvements that come with updates
seems worth it to me yea.
it's a big price but with all the past features that get extra stuff each year it seems more than worth it to me.

We get a set of things which came usual already (big new zone, trial, PDs, delves and proxy-anchors, some sets, hours of questing) plus a new class.
In comparison of other chapters it is not so much. Yeah, new class is cool and highly anticipated. But let's look at past chapters:
Morrowind - class, battlegrounds
Summerset - skilline, jewelry crafting
Elsweyr - class, dragons
Greymoor - antiquities
Blackwood - companions
High Isle - card game
I won't tell you that last three chapters offer less then the previous ones. To be honest, amount of basic set for last chapters is bigger - each one includes new antiquities and companions.
But really buy a new chapter with new class+ only is a moment to think a bit for me. Not to preorder for sure.
I would speculate that the marketing department feel that current offer is a bit rusty. That's why we see a bunch of stories like "What developers think about Morrowind" in ESO media channels. They try to sell Necrom as Morrowind, because Morr is good for it. Fair thing that they are selling the Morrowing for the 3rd time in this game (Stonefalls+Deshaan, Morrowind chapter and now).
I guess year 2024 chapter will be advertised as Skyrim. Just to sell it for the 3rd time either.
Maybe if...I think value varies from person to person on most things. What's important to them, and disposable income factor in
If I trusted the game to work ok and at least fix issues quickly; I find a new class alone worth it. Given how I've seen bugs to core combat abilities slide for months at a time, and balance go from meh, to bad, to worse over the course of a year; well frankly I don't trust that the game is adequately supported. I have no idea if by quantity or quality; I just know it's heading down hill fast.
FWIW; I'm not saying the game is dieing. Probably far from that. I'm just saying the quality is not at an acceptable level for me personally
I would rather they release more Chapters like Elsweyr, which I think was much better than Summerset, on many different levels. It would have been better if they had moved Antiquities from Greymoor into Elsweyr, though.
That is contrary to what I am expecting the Chapter trend to be, though. I expect "less in the box but same price" going forward.
Elsweyr Story was the goods in blue outfit against the bads in red outfit. The style for the order of the hour used for every imperial/dragonguard in the story in north Elsweyr
The dragons are not a unique feature for the players to use, they are just dolmens.
The last chapter who added many things was Summerset.
Elsweyr for me, was the last truly worth the cost. Since then it's been discounts only. The new one feels like a Morrowind "reloaded". We'll see of PTS change my mind but doesn't look like it will be worth the cost either.
Just realised I hadn't replied to this since the announcement. I'm still waiting to try out the archanist class on the PTS before making a final decision, but right now I don't think I want to get Necrom right away, so I'll probably wait for a sale before buying it.
I don't think it looks bad, but the zone isn't anywhere I'm especially excited about seeing (although I'm glad they're doing more to market it than just milking "OMG Morrowind" nostalgia like they did with Vvardenfell), I'm not caught up on other stuff yet and at the moment I don't think the archanist is a must-have profession for me, so I'm ok to wait and I know there will be a sale a few months after it's released.

If solo overland story quest is good enough, then I'll pay money.
But, not interested in new class or meaningless card game anymore.
My playing time Mon-Friday UTC13:00-16:00 [PC-NA] CP over2000 now.
I have [1Tough tank] [1StamSorc-DD] [1Necro-DD] [1Real Healer]

Good-bye "King of Monster Eater".

Farewell Atsuko Tanaka...(-_-) I never forget epic acting for major Motoko Kusanagi.
Though I like the Companions and Antiquities features, Elsweyr was the last expansion that I loved. With High Isle, I finally decided to wait until the fall sale, and I'm doing that this year as well.
It will be worth it, when the new class hits the spot. A spot between the other classes, not on top.
It's not like this is a surprise, isn't it?
Tales of Tribute missed the mark. And Hogh Isle will go down in ESO history as a failed chapter.
Worldspace, quests, sound, characters, dungeons and mechanics are always of a high quality in ESO. I do no expect this to be any different with Necrom.
It is the combat and its classes where ESO struggles. With last year's changes and subsequent problems, this is so very obvious.
If anyone here says: OH! But, PVP! I swear I'll ...
Thank you for the valuable input and respectfully recommend to discuss that aspect of ESO on the PVP forum.
The early ones were, but have gotten progressive less value for the price with each year. This is the first year that I haven’t pre-ordered and probably won’t buy it until it goes on sale months after release.

Considering the content included in the chapters has been less and less each year, I would say the value of the chapter has also decreased year after year since summerset.
Haven't been invested for a while, so no not really. I'd maybe get a chapter if it were closer to 10-15 and included all previous chapters, but 40-60? Not gonna happen. I'd rather just play something else.
I purchased Necrom a few days ago even tho i wasnt gonna do that, but content from youtube videos and las Vegas event made me change my mind give us more!
I ended up buying it because I also got High Isle and my initial feeling was right… I completely regret buying it and don’t recommend it. I caved like an idiot because I love Hermaeus Mora and exploring his realm and Arcanist had me under a spell. Don’t be me lol, Arcanist is fun but not worth it, especially with the change to crux with 9.0.6.
I’ve made a hard stance now that regardless of what comes next year I am not buying it. Faith in ZOS is as gone as the Dwemer.
the last chapter I felt was worth every penny was Summerset...
^ This. Summerset brought Jewelry crafting, it brought a new UNIVERSAL combat skill line in the form of Psijic Order, and it had it had the best story arc to date. Elsweyr was still alright because it brought in Necromancy skills for players and explored khajiiti culture which were two major things fans actually wanted.
