I still haven’t played through the story for Blackwood or high isle, so the new story doesn’t hook me just yet. I also have no interest in a new class. So my answer is no.

I’m assuming I will be somewhat interested in the Q3 & Q4 stuff, but I don’t think that is chapter specific.

Entirely depends on the mechanics/content they add. If it's a zone I'm particularly interested in then I would buy it for the story/zone alone (e.g., Summerset). But lately Chapters have been in zones I really don't care about, so the whole decision rests of the mechanics they introduce.

Blackwood impressed me enough with the companion system that I bought it (still haven't done the zone quests though haha), but nothing after that has caught my attention, so I haven't bought them. Tales of Tribute was promising, but how it works currently just isn't appealing to me. I LOVE minigames — games inside games — and wish developers would do them more in MMOs, but this just didn't land for me. If it was more like TES: Legends then I would've loved playing it in ESO.

Tbh I think the only realistically implementable mechanic that would attract me would be spellcrafting, so you can imagine my disappointment with the Necrom reveal...

I don't use companions, I really don't like the green everything, and my Templar is treading water right now. I don't want to play a new class after being Templar since day one.

I used to buy every chapter without even thinking about it the last three chapters. I bought Blackwood but took one look at Mirri and Stibbens, I left and never go back except for survey maps. I did High Isle on the PTS and decided not to buy.

Having more of Tamriel to explore is the main appeal for me, but even so I don't think the zones on their own are always worth the price, so then it depends on how much you want the other stuff included.

With any type of bundle (not just games) I add up what I'd be willing to pay for each part if I could buy it seperately, then compare that to the actual price and only get it if it's the same or less than my hypothetical price. Importantly that's not what I think each thing would cost if they were sold seperately but what I personally think they're worth, which could be nothing if it's something I don't want at all.

On that basis my decision has ranged from pre-ordered the collectors edition of some chapters to waiting for a 50% off sale.

ESO is still the best MMO out there, in my opinion. Therefore, the chapters are still worth the cost.

I wouldn’t ever say no to a discount, though.

For me personally High Isle was not worth its price, where was the content? They charge 40-50 dollars and a completly new game with all new content like diablo 4 cost 20-30 dollars more.

Edit: my eso plus gives dlc so i paid for a new zone and a few mythics.

It's got a new class and some character slots, so worth it for me, plus there's exploring the new zones and grabbing skyshards. So yes, worth the cost.

    Yeah I got it.
Looks intriguing to me. And the new class and companions seem interesting.

My biggest worry is that it needs to last me a full year. As there is no real Q3 content, and Q4 content looks very niche in my opinion.

Ask me again when I've played it. I don't judge things based on a trailer and a couple of broadcasts. However, I do judge all new content on the basis that playing on 2 servers with multiple characters I'll be playing through it fully a number of times over a long period of time, rather than using addons to guide me through a few bits of it as quickly as possible just the once and then complaining that there wasn't much to it  ! I haven't been disappointed with the previous chapters or non-dungeon DLCs (the dungeon ones don't appeal to me), while the more impactful changes always come with the base game updates and that's where I'll be concerned this time around after last year's AwA mess.

It is a personal choice each must make. I expect some players have never purchased a chapter and they would say no. Serious raiders have never missed purchasing a chapter immediately to participate in the raid.

That is the way it has been for every chapter and the way it is for this chapter without exception.

I mean all the previous chapter to, for me High Isle was definitly not worth its cost and if the new Tent pole system is for everyone necrom chapter or not I dont think this chapter will be worth 40-50 dollars either.

Depends on what you're looking for.

I can usually justify it. I've had fun with each of the new features so far - yeah, I may not be the type of person who sits all day playing Tribute, but it is a fun diversion. I also enjoy running the new trials as they release, and I like to collect the motifs from the dailies. Plus the collector's edition emotes/outfit styles are right up my alley.

However, it may not be worth it if you're not interested in the new 'feature,' if group content isn't your thing, if you prefer to do the stories solo once the zone has emptied, etc.

For me, I'm beyond excited to start an Arcanist for fun alt. Necrom's worth it for that alone. I could similarly go with Greymoor right away for the zone (sorry, I love Skyrim and the Nord aesthetic. The storyline... meh) and Antiquities is a lot of fun. High Isle was a bit harder to justify since Tribute was just a diversion and the zone, while visually nice, had the worst story I have ever seen in ESO. I still can't bring myself to finish the epilogue (at least Firesong was amazing and had great characters).

This question can't be answered universally. Every player cares for different things, even when it comes to the setting, place and story alone, not even counting in other factors like new systems and items.

Personally, I found High Isle disappointing. I never cared for Bretons that much, but I was willing to give it a chance. Anyway, I found both writing and quest design awful qualitywise (and the card game didn't really convince me either). In fact, the decrease in quality seen last year keeps worrying me and makes me really wary about this year's release. Which, with its focus on Hermaeus Mora and Morrowind, would be, generally speaking, something I'd normally enjoy, which makes it even worse if they ruin it.

As a pre-order sight unseen? No.

I would not recommend taking any action until after it hits PTS and they reveal all of the rest of what is in the Chapter. I got bit bad last year. Learn from my failings.

I almost always get my games from sale. Including ESO chapters. And I tend to have low expectations. It's not as much value as say Minecraft which I got during beta (missed the alpha by few days) and still get updates without paying a cent more but when on sale it is not that much for several hours of new content.

The past couple of chapters have been substandard in my opinion. I did not buy High Isle after it was announced that the main feature was a card game. After reading how lack luster quest line is I feel I made the right decision to wait and pay for a one month ESO+ sub in order to run through the content.

I'm not interested in the new class and was hoping for a new skill line. There is also a lot unsaid about the endless dungeon that's coming in Q4. It is still unknown whether it will require the new chapter or if it will be available to all players. How will it be structured? Another thing I am waiting for in regards to the endless dungeon is exactly what ZOS means by it being a tentpole system. Typically tentpole means it is something that generates a lot of revenue to support other less profitable areas. I'm not interested in monetization schemes. With this in mind I see no reason to purchase the chapter and will wait until more information comes out. If it turns out the chapter is required for the endless dungeon (my suspicion is it will be) and the endless dungeon sounds interesting I might pickup the chapter when it goes on sale in the fall. Otherwise I'll just wait until it becomes a DLC to pay for a month of ESO+ to run the content.

New character slot, $15 then spend another $15 for the extra slot.
    2 Companions, $10
    The rest is filler, $15

I'm mainly doing for the first two, extra character slots whether if its for the new class or another duplicate of existing classes, and two new companions I can pair up with my plethora of alts. The rest of the story is not really that interesting; to be quite honest the only "chapter" or DLC zone I have finished through the main story is Summerset and Greymoor, not including all the side quests.

    Chapters never have really.

I will admit that the class -does- improve the price point for me somewhat. I would've preferred another mini game personally (Been addicted to Tales of Tribute again the last few days) but Arcanist is an excuse to take a new build through some of my old favourite zones. Which'll be a nice distraction. I'm not happy with how I've been playing ESO, it's not a friendly game to anyone with an even moderate completionist mindset.

I wasn't gonna buy the chapter at all but I got it on discount from a third party website and I had some RP ideas in my head for an Arcanist Altmer... shame I'll not be able to RP them with other people due to ESO's lack of RP support driving most RP into cloistered off guilds but still.

I always wait for it to go on sale, usually as much as half price within 3-4 months of initial release. As well as saving some money, the initial crowding has also subsided.
