Maintenance for the week of December 30:
• PC/Mac: No maintenance – December 30

Someone should have said it. The Daggerfall Paladin Costume is terrible.

I didn't even think when I bought the piece of it because I though we were still building the mount, tbh if I'd have seen it beforehand I would have used my tickets on literally anything else!

The model itself looks fine, but the color scheme is just wrong. To me, it screams "pay for ESO+ so you can dye me the right color scheme", and that's just really scummy.

The color scheme is literally just the highest quality material in the game.

This paladin costume is a lot like a Triturus Crustatus (@ Triton crêté, in my french language), well the 'helm' definetly =>

    https://inpn.mnhn.fr/photos/uploads/webtofs/inpn/1/201591.jpg
You too can search the web for Triturus Crustatus pics, with descriptions in your language (EN).

Now why a paladin should look like a Triturus (the helm), well it's a premiere. Triturus are cool though, that's not the problem.

Also the back, is just usual clothes for the most part, not even the costume; this is a hint or proof of an unfinished or rushed product.

    The costume fails to deliver.

I'm definitely not interested in the armor, no matter the color. But I am still very curious about the hourglass and if it really is the Q4 reward (personally, I still hope that we will get another house or even better empty plot of land). In the mentioned link to PTS we can see the symbol of purchased items (for crowns) in the right upper corner, right? So, that rather speaks against the theory of Q4 reward.

In the fragments section of the collections menu on PTS are the fragments for it. I did notice the crown thing myself and I remember checking other morpholith related items and they had it too, so I think it will definitely be the hourglass.

The stuff we can earn in game is ugly by design, this way we are tempted to buy the stuff from the store with real money. Why do you think all in game mounts are utter trash while crown store ones are top notch.

It is confirmed in the patch notes that the hourglass will be the q4 ticket reward. No house.
We might get a free house with the High Isle event, possible a community goal. So far we got a free house with every chapter.

So the costume Costs 30 Tickets plus another 15 tickets for the pet to be transformed into it.

    So that is 45 Tickets...

45 Tickets at 250 Crowns each make it 11K Crowns

So the worth of this costume is 11 250 Crowns...

Guess who is skipping this Costume, as even paying me 11k crowns to wear it undyed would be an easy nope

Don’t know if that was sarcasm or not, but Daggerfall’s color is blue. Why would my DC PvP characters want to wear EP red???

Because it's boring like the DC faction? ;P
No one is saying there aren't multiple interpretations of the lore, and we're not arguing that ESO did it "wrong".

We're arguing that they decided to go for the most boring, mundane, seen-before interpretation possible. Like they almost always do, unless they can ride on the coat-tails of past games.

Actually.. (I am so sorry haha)

The Daggerfall Covenant's colour is blue, because of King Emeric being the ruler of Wayrest, and the city's heraldic colours are blue and white.

However the heraldic colours of Daggerfall the city are red and green, a red dragon on a green field to be precise. Though it's a shame the game doesn't show that, since they just put Covenant colours/symbols everywhere. Only with the updated looks in High Isle did they properly reflect the colourful heraldry of the Bretons.

But yeah it's pretty weird they chose for bright red/pink as the default colour for the armour set. I think it will probably look good when dyed in steel colours, but still such an odd choice to make it red, not at all in line with the game's visual style.

It's so you'll pay crowns or use ESO+ to get it dyed as someone above said. Why else?

Yes, I am not a professional concept artist. And no, I am not a fan of everything shining and pretentious. But this costume is an event award of the whole season, and it looks like it was taken from somewhere from canceled models. Dragonguard berserk is better. Dufort's new armor looks better. Yes, anything looks better. And this suit is too flat, completely unsightly in terms of design. I don't know how to put it, sorry.

I totally agree with you. And despite ESO present us with some of the most wonderful concept arts in terms of landscape, characters and overall visual, this costume does not stand alone as a bad choice.

There are many motif designs that are awful. I could list some, but considering that ZOS will not improve them anyway I'll let this subject slide.

The best of the best is behind the crown's paywall. Only a very few outstanding stuff can be acquired in game, and most of them are in places very difficult to get if you are not a "meta build" player.

This costume is indeed quite disappointing.

And why is it red? Maybe just leaving it a classic silver color would've made it better.

Awful. Reminds me of how badly they messed up the Ancestral Imperial Style as well. I know they get tired of negative feedback but things like this are just so disappointing.

If they are tired of negative feedback, then they probably shouldn't be working in the industry tbh. Even if they did well, there will always be someone that has negative feedback. And when it comes to things like this, they shouldn't expect us to like it. What is ugly is ugly and will be called out. And this style is just... yeah.
