Do you want romances in companions? And open world elements

    Skyrim marriages

These, however, were completely pointless... well, you got a home-cooked meal and were suddenly called darling or something similar, but beyond that? If it were about such "romances" in ESO, then you can save the development costs.

I guess that’s where the RP element comes into play. Something to stimulate the imagination of those for and appease those who don’t want romance by making it inconspicuous and without benefit.

There are many ‘frivolous’ aspects to the game that sever no purpose to progression or plot yet people still pay for them.

I can actually now see romance lines being sold in the crown store as a companion upgrade now…

Just tell me why? Well, why? What variety will it bring to your gameplay?

i'll tell you why if you can tell me why not

The why not is easy. It is extremely shallow is both meaning and how it can be executed which gives little justification to the expenditure of effort and resources.

So that puts the onus on someone actually justifying the money and other resources being spent developing such a shallow system.

Oh, and I say this already knowing this is on the devs plate. I am just pointing out no one has to note a reason for "why not" as it is for those that want the system to put forth why they think it is worth the effort.

I don't expect romances of the same depth that you'd find in a Bioware game, certainly. However, even with shallow treatment, I'm confident we would still love it. Take Skyrim, for example, even with romances that could only be described as poorly executed, marriage was still extremely popular.

Ultimately, it's just a matter of preference, some of us value character stories and some of us don't. I personally have never really understood why some people seem to need 20-30 glowing mounts of different colours, but I can still acknowledge that they're popular, and would not argue against a thing that would bring other people some enjoyment.

OP, how long have you been playing ESO? It has all kinds of casual PvE activity beyond armor and gearing... in fact at this point this only really matters for dungeons, trials, and for PvP. There is antiquities, a card game, player housing, questing, and most overland content can be killed quickly with one ability even if you have NO armor on. Many events give cosmetic rewards for completing activities that have zero combat.

I would be fine with everything you suggested except companion or NPC romances. Personally I actively do NOT want this to be added in game. I don't want it to be an option... I don't want it to pop up or have the feeling that I'm missing out on a storyline because I'm not romancing everyone. I didn't like it in SWTOR, I didn't like it in Fallout 4, and I especially wouldn't like it here. I'm one of those players that tries to enjoy all of the content in ESO and I do use the companions so if it were added it would be something that I couldn't just avoid. I would rather ZOS spend its time giving us... pretty much anything else besides this. There have been polls on this periodically and I always give the same answer... no thanks!
My #1 wish for ESO Today: Decouple achievements from character progress and tracking.

Of course we know what's happened. Just Google "ESO Foul Merder".

We don't know the exact details, the reasons that lead to that decision, or what he felt while killing Nerevar. One single Kirkbride drawing doesn't really change that and hints in TES3 are contradictionary, as there's no omniscient narrator but only reports by different factions with different agendas. What I find much more interesting than just having "the truth" - it's even more realistic, because it's not any different in real life when it comes to historical written reports from centuries ago. Anyway, you're right that this is getting quite off-topic now.

I think what would be most important in companion romance is that the romance quests would have to show some kind of emotional development. In Skyrim it was basically just wearing an amulet of Mara, going to the temple for the marriage ceremony and that was it. Not exactly convincing.
