Not sure why an event was needed now, with the Jester's Festival coming up so soon. Seems more of a way to distract people and the media from the rough Update 33 launch.

What i would really like is a stable calendar for regular events.

Regular events are ones that we all know happen every year. As in Event ticket events. We as players should really know in advance when events are going to hit, and a well in advance. Often we know events are coming due to PTS testing and past years, but not knowing the exact start dates and duration is very very frustrating.

A good example of this: The 2022 Jester's Festival is supposed to be sometime in Q1, which ends in 11 days. We should have had an announcement by now as to when it is.... and we have heard nothing. So when is it? How many days is it going to last? will I even have time to get enough tickets to finish a thing with tickets?

Anniversary Jubilee Event is supposed to happen sometime.... and we have nothing on that one either.

Events are fine and great. but we need some notice. Events often serve as an interruption to normal gameplay, some activities are just simply harder to do while they are going on. having notice allows us to plan accordingly.

what would i consider a sufficient notice? No less than two weeks (a month preferably) for all events that involve event tickets. I remember one year ZOS announced all of the ticket events for the end of the year at the start of November. More of that would be nice. For popup surprise events. give us at least 24 hours notice.

Their prime competitor has a very detailed calendar. You can look a couple of months ahead, see the exact start and stop dates, look for overlaps in events, and easily plan accordingly.

There isn't any reason why other games can't do the same, like ESO.

As mentioned, my feeling is that this surprise event is just a tossing of a bone because of the U33 dumpster fire.

..which also underscores how deeply out of touch they are.

My guess it's ZOS plan all along. To keep us in suspense. Force us to check news every day, log in every day, to be afraid of losing goodies. Just like they do with their favorite crown store.
If we had event calendar, we could actually predict how many tickets we can have and make plans. Which would illuminate all that fear of losing profit.
To be the Chosen One really sounds like lots of fun,
But in the end you'll just be someone's lunch

Although I am seriously disappointed with the update 33 technical issues that continued during this event. I love 2XP and Mats. But with the dungeon finder broken. issues logging in (seriously - over10 minutes on waiting on '"1second" to log in?), and then sometimes getting the error message that I cannot join a PUG team when I am trying to run a random- it has become more frustrating than fun and rewarding.

I hate to say it, but instead of encouraging me to play more since update 33, I have actually played less due to the above, and other issues. I like to play to escape frustration, not to add to them.

I still love the game, but I wish that they rolled this event out AFTER they fixed the problems that prevent players from fully enjoying it. Glad that there were not event tickets in this pop up.

    It's not a guess - it's a FOMO-inducing fact.

ZOS has made a great game - no doubts about it - but they way they handle it is clearly wrong.

Whose fault is it I wonder - ZOS' or their shareholders'.

I didn’t want to vote for lack of an “other” option. I didn’t feel like an either/or of “yes” or “no” suited my opinion on this topic.

For “events” like this (double nodes, gold and XP) sure, I’m content with it being a surprise.
For bigger “events” (like all the themed celebration events) I am in agreement with many others, I would really love for there to be an “official” schedule or calendar.

But I went ahead and voted “no” and decided to take the time to explain.

While I’m on console and haven’t been affected yet by the recent update like PC players have, I can’t help but be in agreement with those who find the timing of this “surprise” event highly suspicious.

As well as very inconsiderate of the players who do not have the ability to benefit from the “surprise” double nodes, gold and XP, because they are being negatively impacted by the recent update.

As others have pointed out, an official schedule or calendar would be a way for a company to show respect for their customers.

And I add my vote for an official schedule or calendar.

(And yes, I'm reasonable enough to recognized that schedules and calendars are subject to change. But I believe they should still be done and announced with the appropriate changes also announced in timely manners. It's the professional thing to do.)

1º With surprise in-game events there's allways some players who will know about early then many others (Yes. This happens in ALL GAMES)
2º I don't like surprises. And the last surprise i have in eso was with patch 33 and that make the game 100% unplayeble... unless i play with only Main char!

As long as the event doesn't have anything worth missing like tickets or limited exclusive items. I don't mind the occasional unplanned 2x week or perhaps some modifier to an insurgent event or something like dragons regenerate health but drop like triple reagents like rheum.

I voted no simply because I'd like to be able to plan ahead.
On the other hand, if surprise events are just double drops/exp, but no unique rewards or quests, in that case I'm completely fine with them being surprise. I don't think I'd ever be missing out if I can't play.

As long as they are smaller events like this one. I'd be pretty annoyed to miss out on event tickets because I didn't know an event was going on, or any other exclusive rewards. But something like this is fun because it's not a big deal to miss out on if you didn't know.

I like the idea of seeing random Daedric forces teleporting in front of you mid destination. An advanced version would be like what they had in another MMO called Firefall, where the whole town needed defending against NPC's.

As for this event, I don't mind a mini event, actually, an in game event board showing the time or things that are happening around the zone, oh, maybe I'm getting ahead of myself.

I'd actually love to see this as in impromptu Cyrodiil event.
Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.
    ***
Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis

No, because you only do it when the game is broken, so it feels bad because it is unplayable in the first place. Fix your game instead of releasing an 'event' that was never advertised in the first place. We can't even login to play the game, much less do any sort of event at all.

Yes, but putting it on when you know 10 hours of a 4-day event will be lost due to a massive maintenance was a bit of a bad move. Starting at 4pm, my time, and running until any Aussie is asleep. I mean, I know we're not considered "real customers", but still...;)

Also my "yes" comes with a caveat: ticketed events should never be surprises.

I thought it was an awesome surprise. However, I'm not to pleased about running a 10 hour maintenance on the PC NA servers - begining at reset and lasting until the end of the event - excluding us from being able to participate. I realize that my issue is a personal issue and expect others will be sure to remind me. I've barely played for 4 hours during this event due to being ill. I am finally starting to feel well enough that I intended on playing for few hours tonight. I realize the event runs day and night and realize people play when they have the free time to enjoy doing so. Many people play during the daytime hours while others only have the option of playing at night due to what I call "Adulting" (an inside joke term relating to not video gaming due to having to work, investing your time with your spouse and children during the weekend daylight hours while businesses are still opened, doing your share of the housework, perhaps cook dinner and clean up afterwards, ect). I expect many have convinced themselves that they know what's best for everyone, but the truth is none of us know what's best for anyone aside from ourselves. My suggestion is to keep the surprise events to keep the game exciting, surprises are awesome but only if we all get to participate during the whole event. In summary, it sucks that PC NA players are getting ... (chose your own word so I don't get in trouble) over. In the future, consider withholding maintenance until after events - especially very short surprise events. All players should be treated equally...especially those who pay to use your subscription services. Many people don't have the option of day time gaming based on numerous factors unknown by myself. I noticed we had maintenance scheduled for the 23rd, and that's cool. However, I was looking forward to being able to play for a few hours tonight while the event and bonuses are taking place. I hope no one finds my post to be offense, as that's not my intentions. I am simply sharing my thoughts and feelings about surprise events: I love the idea! In the future, it would be super awesome if we were all granted the same amout of participation time during these events.
