I just wonder - as much as I am well up for this and agree - would it be a good option for maybe guilds to offer "tortoise" runs for people who want to do a sight seeing tour of a dungeon and soak up the story.

One thing I fully intend to do when I get good enough is to start a guild with people that are willing to offer this service to beginners. Again, I'm still relatively new to the game and so it may be that this is something people already do.
Some social guilds already do this I believe, as a part of their social activities. These are usually called "story runs" and yeah they are a great idea.

One of the guilds (a social guild) I'm in do this sort of thing. They even host story runs for some normal trials.

With High Isle we'll have a total of 4 companions to recruit.

I think allowing us to take three of them into group content like dungeons would solve this problem pretty easily, without the need to rebalance all the dungeons in the game for a new difficulty option, whilst simultaneously providing another good reason to recruit, gear up, and level up multiple different companions.

I've mentioned before that the Armory Station could be a good candidate for this - adding a new tab to it for companion management. Providing a unified place to manage companion gear and skills without having to call them all up individually, and being to pre-select your team for all group content there.

FFXIV is an interesting case study for this, since it provides a "solo mode" for new dungeons in almost exactly this way - you go in with a party of NPCs. ESO is already primed for it mechanically, with a pretty robust companion system. ZOS just need to enable multiple companions at a time for group content. Not for overland, delves etc though, since towns and delves are already cluttered with companions enough as it is

Think this is a great idea for 2 reasons:

    1. It’s nice so you can really feel some more immersion. Just allow a few companions and make it the same difficulty as normal or maybe 80% HP of normal and it’d be fine.
    2. Add this so people stop complaining on the forums daily about people who have done the dungeon 600,000 times wanting to speed through it. This would appeal to both crowds heavily

It’d be nice but probably won’t happen, as the game pushes hard for players to join guilds and participate in group activities.

    Here's an idea then:

Maybe not so much a "story" mode as such... But what if there was some unique rewards for guilds or groups that took beginner players through a dungeon and allowed them the time to read each book - listen to all the dialogue etc...

For example if a group has a player in their group that has never done the dungeon before (or less than X amount of times) and they trigger all the lore books and story sources - there is more chance of a certain drop / a unique achievement / something else if that beginning player had got all of the story in.

You would then perhaps get experienced players actually encouraging and pointing beginners towards the lore book / dialogue sources so that they got their rewards... and not rushing beginners through the dungeon.

    Thoughts?

Just adding that I have just completed the first 3 story dungeons in a certain game that has an unlimited time free trial with an award-winning expansion included. New trust system, I can use NPC's as party members and I can take as long as I want.
So they raised the floor and lowered the ceiling. Except the ceiling has spikes in it now and the floor is also lava.

I still have alt characters I'm leveling up in the Undaunted skill for the passives. And doing the quest for the dungeon gets you double the Undaunted xp. But in places like Banished Cells, I feel bad expecting other players to hang around while some npc mage spends 3 mins, (an eternity in game time), explaining everything you don't want to know so you can click on them to finish that part of the quest. BC is the worst of these but there are others. In Banished Cells you spend more time listening to npcs talk then anything else. So yes, I think there should be a story mode with less rewards along the way.

Absolutely; the few dungeons I've ventured into, even asking the people I've been with and explaining I've not experienced the story, they just wanted to speedrun so I missed it. I've managed to avoid a good deal of late game meta as a result.

I've heard tell of these story-guilds but I've not actually found any, and since the quests aren't a repeatable option, I imagine they run low on the ability to bring folks through after a time.

ZOS, this would be a really good addition, since these tend to have forced grouping. Let those of us who enjoy the stories actually experience them!

Just remove multiple mechanic from "story mode" of normal dungeon.
Or, need story difficulty for the lower level player.

I don't remember most of dungeon story except Frost Vault as PUG tank . :(

We're farming gear and endless champion Point grinding over and over...for the strength.

But, becoming the most strongest player in the ESO is most meaningless purpose for enjoying Elder Scrolls.
I don't need group trial or group dungeon anymore. Most of those things shallow level design and cheap
boss combat. Just make big empty room, and put the boss character. I'm not willing to pay money for those things.

I may have answered in this thread already, but want to make sure. Yes to Story Mode. Make everything soloable. Give weak rewards. No Helms or Shoulders. Skill point would be nice.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.
