Thoughts on your character's voice?

This isn't really something I gave much thought to, I often just leave it whatever it is, mostly because the voice testing in character creation is... bad.
But I was fishing today and my character made one of the most horrible laughs. I really regret not paying closer attention to her voice. Sadly I refuse to waste like 1000 crowns on an appearance change token just for that though so... yeah lol.

Only hate it because my Templar screams with every Jabs. They should get rid of that seeing as it's a spammable.

This. I have an Altmer templar and she absolutely howls in rage when I use Puncturing Sweeps. It's the only vocal tic I really notice on any of my characters, everyone else either doesn't make much noise or their sounds slide under my radar. But her "EYAAARGH" when I use my spammable really kind of sucks.

I play with an Argonian with the, I think brave? personality and he sometimes starts screaming really weird like "HAAhee Jaaeee aa"

Oh god I haven't used jabs/played a templar in awhile, I totally forgot that was a thing.
The spear throw also has a scream with it...

I don't "hate" it, but I'd love to be able to mute it without losing the rest of the sound - like I have the NPCs muted. I just in general dislike VA, and I sure don't like any of the character voices.

I'm satisfied with my elf's voice but two things I wish for:
1. More voices in character creation to choose from.
2. A more thorough 'testing' ability in character creation to get a feel for what the voice actually sounds like. The current ability to test a voice is quite inadequate.

Oh. My character's voice is the voice acting I do when I play the game. You... weren't talking about that.

Because I do my own voice acting for my characters, I really... don't pay that much attention to what's provided in the game.

I watched a couple of NBs fight on stream recently and I swear to god the female character shouted every single time she cast. Breaking invisibility with a mighty yell, what the hell is that. Your throat would be raw all the time.

I have a hard time making peace with any voice I choose. If I'm on my Templar she screams non-stop with several of the skills. If I'm on any character...every time I give the command to sprint to my mount, they yell. Its tiresome and repetitive! Family members around the house (who don't game) equate gaming to 'Brainless' when they also have to hear the stupid repeats in yelling or dialog around this world.

Saying "I love it" isn't quite accurate, but I like the way my Bosmer sounds most of the time. Sometimes it sounds pretty rough, which fits her, but sometimes her yelling will turn really high pitched and make her sound younger than I intended. Her laugh when she dances is also... interesting. She does that little inhale babies tend to do at the end of their laughs. Idk how else to explain it. I wouldn't change her voice at this point, though. It wouldn't feel like the same character anymore.

My Redguard sounds great so far. He's a brute, and his voice fits that very well.

I play Khajiit, I love the voice over.
It's slightly out of what a human voice would sound like, and I love it.

It is very important to me, sometimes even more than looks because if I cant stand to hear his/her voice I won't feel like playing it

I spent time trying to find the right voice, and I really like how it turned out.

Pro tip: https://eso.mmo-fashion.com/player-character-voices/ has all of the voices there so you can make sure you get one you like. I always listen to each to get a good one before I start my character.

Sadly, I hate almost all character voices in ESO This is main reason why I buy every polymorph who has more or less interesting voice - I use polymorphs in combat, so I don't have to hear voices of my characters.

There is one Male Nord voice which I mostly like, and there are just a few combat screams from one of High Elf Male, High Elf Female, Redguard Female and Male Argonian which I like.

My main character, Female Khajiit, has such awful voice When she breaks free, it breaks my heart a little.

I'm reasonably content with the voices on my newer alts. But I hate the voices on the first three or four I made, because I actually didn't even see that there was a voice option, so I ended up with the default. I'm still hoarding those free race change tokens we got a while back, so that someday when I have time to sit down and fool with it, I can go back and change only the voices. I think it's important to take the time to cycle through all the sounds that each option provides, so you can make sure there are no surprises. Sometimes I'll find one with a great laugh, for example, but then some weird grunt that's a dealbreaker for me.

It's been a couple of years since I made a new alt, so I'm blanking now, but I feel like there are at least two of the races that have female voices where there's no option that I really love. I feel like one of them is Breton, and the other is, I don't know, maybe Altmer? I wouldn't swear to it. But I remember thinking it was weird that the Orc women have daintier sounding options than Bretons and Altmer.

I love my character's voice, and the actor that did it, but she'll yell doing things that I personally don't understand why she would. Like Mistform doesn't strike me as something to yell while casting.

Also turning into a Blood Scion needs some work. I thought it was putting a filter over your character's voice, but its actually not. ZOS if you could please fix this it'd be much appreciated because the voice all Blood Scions, regardless of gender apparently, are forced to use is just as ugly as the form itself.

For the most part I like my character's voice but he has this obnoxious fratboy laugh that makes me want to put duct tape over his mouth. It is the sort of laugh you'd expect out of a jerk watching someone trip and hurt themselves.

I wanted my main to represent me as much as possible, and because I (according to my own ears) have a kind of deep female voice, I wanted my main to have that as well, so I use Nord female voice E. The only thing that saddens me, is I can't find anything on the actress anywhere, other than her name

As for my other characters, I think I went with either the first option, or whatever sounded the best in my ears

I give all my male nords the same deep gravelly voice so they all sound like me. Freaks my wife out when I randomly mimic any sound my character makes.

On the whole I'm happy with my characters' voices, but voice selection has to be one of my least liked aspects of character creation in any game. It's usually based on a single syllable utterance whereas a complete sentence would give a much better demonstration of the voice behind the character.

It's basically perfect, only problem is that one or two of the screams are weird sometimes. Other than that, it's essentially the canon voice I've had for the character in my head, I couldn't ask for it to be better.

I wish youd know when choosing if they spam those voices and which ones while casting skills. Some of them are pretty awful.

I like them but they’re kind of weird sometimes — usually just a few or how they’re associated with a particular skill. I have to generally like it or I have to recreate the character or otherwise change it. Getting the voice right is essential to the overall feel of the character. I almost never choose the same one twice as it becomes associated with a particular character.

Only if you could choose if and what they spoke! Having the player character say little to nothing is better than a personality/attitude/role forced on them!

To me voices sound very inconsistent, which sometimes makes me doubt all emotes were voiced by the same voice actor for each voice. Idk like the laugh will be very high pitched and then the pant will be 3 octaves lower. I don't find the voice preview in character creation very informative. I've had to change voices a few times after watching online videos. All human male voices are too masculine/macho for my taste, I'd prefer something milder.

On the topic of Templar, you'll notice that most melee/stamina skills include more groaning and macho vibe, while magical skills are more quiet and elegant, which is kinda realistic. If you play a magicka Templar it feels odd, but the Aedric spear skills are melee even if they're magicka. So you'll groan a lot for these.

The creation menu doesn't really showcase everything until you hear the horrible screaming after using some skills lol.
