To me voices sound very inconsistent, which sometimes makes me doubt all emotes were voiced by the same voice actor for each voice. Idk like the laugh will be very high pitched and then the pant will be 3 octaves lower.

I seems to me that some animations/emotes use the same voice actor for a whole race instead of the different voice types. Like during that New Year dance quest in Stonefalls, I've realized that every male Dunmer basically sounds the same while dancing (there were several in the room), with an extremely "old", raspy, deep laughing. I'd call it a "sailor grandpa voice" or something ;) Which is extremely weird, as my main is a younger guy and his normal voice sounds completely different (I actually really like that one, as it fits him). No big deal, though. I mean, how often do you dance in ESO?! ;)

We need more options for voice choices. Also, the only time we even get to hear characters talk is during BG’s when a team mate of yours automatically makes a remark about you winning or losing. It would be nice if more opportunities were put in game to hear voices, especially your own.

I love it, made a different but similar character on the pts but the voice was just so different and off.

Most of the time it's fine but she makes a short, jarring yell when she takes certain types of damage. Or maybe just periodically when taking any damage at all, I'm not sure, it's something that didn't stand out during character creation nearly as much as it does during actual play.

They do get weird sometimes. With some of the voice choices it sounds like they didn't get all the sounds recored so they had someone else do them, or they differ quite noteable in tone.

Doesn't help that the voice examples in the character creator is awful. Would be better if we could choose what emote it is for, or instead of a random vague mess, we'd get a voice sample that was always in a certain order. Like fighting and taking damage grunts, jump noise, mount sprint noise, laugh, bellylaugh, cheer. With the current one, you have no clue what they sound like when they sprint with mount or jump, nor can you tell what laugh is a normal laugh and what is the bellylaugh (Yes, they are different).
[Lie] Of course! I don't even worship Daedra!

The voices don't bother me too much BUT I think they yelp and holler WAY TOO MUCH. I don't hugely notice it on my main anymore mostly because I think I tune it out, but when I'm on one of my trials toons or my tank, my god, they grunt and screech and carry on more than professional tennis players.

I love the voice of my main Altmer, and I like one of the shared ones for Altmer/Dunmer quite a lot. But all the other voices for males... there are only five in total that I would use. And only about three for females.

I tend to be pretty picky (and use this list as a reference when I'm rolling up characters.) Beyond that, I don't tend to think of it outside of character creation, unless the voice is especially obnoxious.

I forget my guy has a voice at all. Most of the time, your character will say nothing for entire swaths of time. All of a sudden, he yells as he falls or something. It's not consequential, but if someone enjoys them I am happy for them.

I didn't put too much thought into my character's voice because I got kicked from the character creator while thinking of a name and at that point I just wanted to get to the gameplay. I do however like the voice he ended up with except for when he jumps and sounds like he's been punched in the stomach or something.

I'm satisfied with my character's voices, and spend quite some time picking them.

But I honestly wish they did some things with their mouths closed, like fishing. Nothing like cheering on top of your lungs in the enemy district in IC, right? Or jabs. I can't remember my nightblade or necro making a lot of sounds while fighting, but templar is so vocal I sometimes doubt that it's fighting that's going on.

My breton templar healer also struggles with each skill, she's like one of those tennis players that go ughhhh and arghhh and uuaahhh with each ability. Hate it.

I just set them all to the same two options, one for male and one female. All the others seem to have at least one note in them that sounds like a tennis player in the middle of an earthquake. There are one or two at the bottom end of the female selection list that had my wife in hysterics, saying it sounded like someone having an intimate examination and the doctor had cold hands. So now I just set female characters to C and leave it there

If you ever make a male Dunmer avoid voice type A

The general voice is masculine but some combat grunts are very obviously feminine.

The *only* "voice" I really like is the Argonian female E. All the others they tried too hard to make them sound heroic (I guess) and they just sound really bad.

Agreed, what if the devs actually took the battlegrounds callouts and put them as the samples on the character creator?

Well they don't speak outside of cheering, jeering, combat grunts, etc. I guess I really never think about it and during character creation I've never really cared. If they did speak here and there I would take more of an interest in how they sound.

I do too and actually love it! Blaaheahah or whatever :P

But you may have a different voice.

Only real problem I have is when my Bosmer Nighblade takes falling damage. It's like a tennis player's grunt.

There's a bit of inconsistency. My Dunmer character has a low grunting kind of voice, but in battlegrounds, she has this high snooty sounding voice.

(For those that don't know, the voices you hear in battlegrounds come from your teammates. I heard my character from watching a video of a game my friend and I played. The other three on the team were two male Nords and a male Khajiit, so I am 100% certain the Dunmer was me)

    So it's hit and miss.
Shortly after the formation of the Ebonheart Pact, a Nord woman was given a tour of the Tribunal Temple. When later asked about the experience, she seemed upset. Suffice to say, the Dunmer were not pleased to hear this, and thus they inquired further.
"Well," the Nord frowned, "the priests were very angry and unwelcoming. They kept shouting things at me like "you can't drink that mead in here!" and "somebody stop her, she's running naked!" and "we can't catch her; she's covered in grease!""

It's honestly one of the things that I go back and forth on when making a new character. Each race has, at most, 2 decent voices, and a few similar race types recycle the same ones, (orc and nord, for example).

The laughs are all kinda bad, and I wish they wouldn't play those the most when I'm testing a voice. I usually just base a voice off of the break free "YAAAAAAAAA" and the falling off of a high ledge grunt sound, because those are the primary sounds that you hear when playing.

I'll low-key use the same voice on multiple characters, just because it's one of the only good ones.

Well... uhm... :grimace: We all know which one is the odd one out...

Jokes aside though, so many voice sets are ruined by one conspicuous voiceline that's just too different from the rest. I'm convinced mine drops an octave or changes actors for her break free, lol, it's really disruptively different. They should have asked the voice actresses to do voicelines 'in character'... like "A" could be 'You're a haughty noble, go'; "B" could be 'You're a dainty jokester, go'; "C" could be ''You're a gruff brawler, go" to make all voicelines in one set similar-sounding. Right now, some sound like dainty jokesters while laughing but an absolute truck of a person while breaking free, etc.

Yea, my first character - and still my main - is a Breton Templar. His voice sounded manly when I created him, but then I found out whenever he takes damage, like falling down a cliff, he yelps like a little girl :(
