Which Spirit did your character see during the Imperial New Life Quest?

Did the quest a second time on my exploration/story alt. She's done DC and EP zones but nothing else and she didn't see any spirits.

My Vestige saw

Varen Aquilarios. In one light, it makes sense. She's my Vestige and she sacrificed him. On the other hand, they had a longer and considerably more impactful conversation at the end of the Orsinium questline.

NPCs I haven't seen mentioned yet wjo's deaths made a big difference to my Vestige's story: Aera Earth-turner, General Tanval Indoril.

My Silencer saw no one and shrugged it off. Most of the spirits of her dead are safely in the Void because she sent them there.

I got the prophet on my main, very sure I did no sacrificed him although that was over 5 years ago
On an alt who has not finished any of the main quests I got none.

Then I DID see one, dangit!
Did Old Life for the first time last night and as I turned around I saw *someone* briefly over by the rocks near the shrine.
They were gone so fast I couldn't find out who it was and that's bothering me now.
I like to rollplay and seeing WHO it was, maybe why they chose to appear to me could have shaped my character's personal story
I spose there is no way to find out.
It would be nice if ZOS could extend the duration they remain, or have them stay until the player interacts with them somehow.

Yeah it's really too quick. I didn't even have the time to tell Naemon to fug off a second time, even in the afterlife!

I'm not seeing anything yet, even when I'm alone at a shrine with the camera pulled back.

I even turned off the Custom Idle Animation add-on, in case it mattered.

I'll try again with one of my characters who's had a lot of companions die.

Same character as always, and a shrine I'd visited before. There was no one else using it at the same time but I'm not sure that makes a difference.

I think that the only thing that determines your chance to see someone is how many of the relevant quests you've done. Relevant meaning involving death of the aforementioned characters.

That would make sense, but I've been using my main character who has completed the main storyline, her Alliance, both guilds and numerous other storylines and quests so there's plenty of possibilities including several listed here by other people. But for some reason it took at least 3 attempts for anyone to show up.

I'm not sure about the first time I did it, because it was at the shrine in the Rift which is in a narrow space, and on the first day so it was packed with people coming and going and I'm not sure I'd have spotted a ghost appearing in the crowd even if I'd known to look out for them. So this could be the 2nd time, but it's the first I've noticed anything.

Going by the fact that your character can ask the NPC what it means to get a response and talks as if they saw someone no matter what happened I would say ZOS intended a ghost to appear to everyone, but at this point I think it's equally likely they just didn't bother to program more than one verison of the conversation and didn't much care if it doesn't make sense sometimes.

Considering Darien's origins, I don't think Aetherius can be a destination of his. Or any form of after life, really...
