Its the Year of Dagon, and its going to involve Eveli Sharp-Arrow and the book is in fact the Mysterium Xarxes. Just as several of us predicted. Its going to be an interesting year.
Here is the trailer for the year of Dagon.

How did you not know this? we have known Dagon was involved since his model was Datamined alongside a new type of 4-armed Daedra known as a Harbinger.

So we're not just redoing the plot of TES IV with the Planemeld/Molag Bal instead of the Oblivion Crisis/Mehrunes Dagon...we're literally seeing aspects of the same plot as TES IV.

Between Vvardenfell, dragons, Skyrim, and now Oblivion, I think ZOS has decided that nostalgia is where the money is at.

Oh I knew this, I knew it was the Dagon, and its the Mysterium Xarxes, since seeing that book hint.
Though I'm not sure if its Cyrodiil. It kinda looked like Black Marsh to me. Trust me I was very well aware of the Dagon datamine. I called it when I saw that book but others did too that book was the Mysterium Xarxes. Because of the Datamine, which made me think that it was Dagon's Book.

You joke, but after this they might be out of games to re-hash.
I really can't predict where they could go in 2022.

In all fairness, ZOS did a pretty good job with Fang Lair, Selene's Web, and the Halls of Colossus. They've mined Arena a couple other times for content ideas, like the Tharn family. Mind you, I guess Arena is so sparse on lore that it'd be hard to go wrong with it.

on the bright side a large majority of players wont know the plot of arena, including myself. just that something something tharn something staff of chaos.
on the downside well..kinda sad that they arnt doing anything original. at all.
welp im hoping at least they'll give us artificer instead of another one of the cut classes polished up and called brand new idea. (being battlemage) but who am I kidding I'll be playing the class anyways. especially if its a melee focused magic class. because I love dk so damn much for that.

The place on the trailer looks a bit more like part of Black Marsh, especially if you consider the presence of the Argonian with Eveli which strikes me as a guide of sorts. Maybe we won't go to Skingrad after all, and instead, to (South)Eastern Cyrodiil/Western Blackmarsh. Thoughts?

Its possible the first dlcs will be in Black Marsh then we go to Skingrad or Leywiin for the chapter.

That I would LOVE. What a better way to pay homage to TES than to recreate the first game.

Yeah did notice the Argonian structure in the trailer, I believe the first half will be the hinted Cyrodiil
    Skingrad
and the Q4 story update will take us to the eastern side of Cyrodiil and the border with Black Marsh.

It looks to be an Imperial city given the prominent Imperial chapel seen in the background.. but which city?

    jvT0jJc.png

Skingrad, near the River Strid as Lyris hinted, with a view from Valenwood? Leyawiin over the Niben River? Gideon in Black Marsh?

Why is there an ancient Argonian temple? It might be in a separate location to the city location (perhaps a dungeon DLC or prologue location), so it may not necessarily be a chapter in Black Marsh or neighbouring Nibenay. The trailer does not show it as being in the same area as the city.

    Looking forward to January 21!

The Argonian guides are a trailer meme at this point. They are in several trailers as useless guides/escorts.

Looking at it I think it maybe Skingrad. Asked on the discord and its most likely Skingrad. I remember that the castle you had to cross a bridge and it looks like that is the case with that city.

Now Argonian stuff is being hinted at in the trailers? Are we sure? If so it could also be a hint as to the follow up 2022 chapter in Black marsh.

I agree.. but I imagine the Argonian temple will throw people off.

The layout from Oblivion does have the temple next to the separate Castle Skingrad.. and Skingrad is right next to the River Strid.

    ExvVIGZ.png

IIRC, Eveli returned to Valenwood to see her family, so her traveling from Valenwood to Skingrad would make sense.

I hope it’s Skingrad! Looks promising...

Edit: Wow, may not matter since ZOS highlighted their own incompetence with the “January 2020” global release on the trailer. Getting harder every day to white knight these guys.

I'm interested to see where this is going...

Oblivion wasn't my favorite Elder Scrolls game, but that isn't really saying much considering how much time I still did put into it. And I kinda do want to go back to it again... guess I need to add that to the ever-growing 'things to replay' list.

Skingrad makes the most sense to me as a main city. The only other city we don't really have from Cyrodiil is Leyawiin, but Skingrad just seems more like the 'big major' city akin to Vivec/Alinor/Rimmen/Solitude that we noirmally get in a chapter zone. Plus, we've got loads of space in Colovia for a zone, from the Gold Coast to the edge of the PvP Cyrodiil (where the road near Vlastarus is cutting in. I just don't think there's much going on to the south to build the rest of the chapter around, so that seems unlikely to me.

Besides, I can't help but notice that Miscarcand, a major Oblivion quest location and a huge Ayleid ruin (and therefore great public dungeon) is right between Skingrad and Kvatch as well. Basically like how Labyrinthian was the obvious Greymoor public dungeon.

I can't really explain the Argonian stuff, since that's looking more in the Leyawiin direction...unless the Q4 DLC zone is going to be that end of Cyrodiil. Colovia's good, but it's a bit stuck with not much room to expand except in the Hammerfell direction (which a lot of people expect they're going to leave for TES6), but the rest of Cyrodiil/Blackwood/etc. could be the other DLC area, and that could be anchored by Leyawiin.

I also wonder if there is going to be anything in the Deadlands. This would work really well to have something like the Skyrim/Blackreach separation if they wanted to do that, but I think they also said that didn't go over well since a lot of people didn't realize that Blackreach was part of the zone and got mad about how small everything was.

Deadlands as the new trial though? I can totally see that.

There are also the Q1 and Q3 dungeons. This is looking very "City of Ash III" at first glance, and we know that won't be it, but I could see at least one of those dungeons being behind an Oblivion gate. I'm also interested to see what the 'special mechanic' in the new dungeons is going to be, since lately our dungeon DLCs have had one standard on and then one with some interesting fun mechanics.

Try not to rush to judgment just because we haven't seen the storyline rolled out yet, @Ekzorka.

Remember, the ESO timeline is a different era than the Oblivion Crisis ...

My guess would be return to black marsh / murkmire for the Q1 DLC dungeons

    Q2 skingrad/ manimarco return
    Q3 more badlands/imperial dungeons
    Q4 face off with dagon

The article says new worlds so I'm gonna say maybe we get a new plane to visit like we did in clockwork.

New systems my guess would be the CP rework or a new weapon type
