Veteran Vateshran hollows last boss difficulty

I ran the arena a lot on the PTS and I knew the Minotaur boss and the last one will be tricky compared to all other bosses in there.

The last boss should be difficult, that is fine, if you have the right build the shades won't cause any trouble. I think the problem with the Minotaur boss is that there is just too many mechanics such as the grapple hook (which isn't made for in combat purposes because you have to sheath your weapon mid fight), his color change, the mages fire mechanic and trillions of stuns and interrupting which all make the fight a lot longer.

I have seen many players not get the ESSENCES that boost your stats by up to 10k, I recommend reading the Vateshran Holllows Arena guide (English & German Versions) to get more info on that.

If you need further help you can also check out my Youtube Playlist of Vateshran Hollows which has runs of almost all magicka/stamina setups.

Ok. So i am after 60 attempts. At that point i cant go further. My hands are hurt, im tired and pissed. My top dps was 42k throughout the whole run. Boss killed me on 3% after last wave.

Not sure what im doing worng or why this arena is so punishing. Even if i would finish it now i would never want to return to it on veteran mode period. It's just not fun for me.

I did. I have all the reds, and blues. 810cp, almost your build - one skill swaped (same cp tho). False gods + swarm mother/domi+mother sorrow+malestrom. All golden. And yet im being teabaged every single time after 2nd or 3rd instance.

Well it is new content, it shouldn't be clearable by everyone at the first day. Think of it as a achievement, only the hard ones are worth it  arena will be a piece of cake in next year/two years due to power creep so lets enjoy difficulty till it last

If you are running without the Pale Order Ring I would recommend using Iceheart, it helps a lot with damage mitigation.

The main reason players die once the 2nd and 3rd round starts on the last boss is because they get overwhelmed by the amount of monsters.

    1. Kiting, very important in this fight, move around so the Colossus can't always deal damage to you, they will have to run to you before they can hit you. Also interrupt the Fire Mages
    2. Use your shield, most players don't spam their shield often enough.
    3. Healing abilities have to be kept up at all times.
    4. Did you pick up the right Essences that boost your stats by 10k?

And I recommend using the Sigils that are around when it gets more difficult, these should help the most.

That's the thing, I don't mind it being hard. And I have completed it with several classes. It's not the same achievement for mag. Soon I have to watch magplades and sorcs flex in Craglorn chat linking achievements while I had to work way harder for my trifecta with stam. I just wish the arena was built also stam in mind and would be more balanced.

I'm finding the absurd frame drops and the high spawn rate of some enemies, why is he summoning 3 more bigskelebois after i finish killing them. then it's the beams, kinda hard to do dmg through 3 skeletons while not getting 1 shot by them or the beam...

If you have three giants after you finish them your DPS on the miniboss is too low. This is the most important part of the whole fight, because (at least I think so) the main boss spawns a new giant at every 25% health she regains during the miniboss phase. This means you need to kill the miniboss real fast or the arena becomes increasingly harder after each miniboss.

What I did to get the best out of this stage:
    - Save your ultimates for the miniboss. Some minibosses walk a bit away after 5 seconds, so don't drop the ultimate too early but also not too late since you need new ultimate for the minions later on.
    - Make sure you walk to the correct side of the arena when the main boss is at about 15%
    - Drop the main boss health to 1% before going into miniboss phase.
    - Prebuff before going into the miniboss phase.

When this part is done wait a bit until minions are spawned. Drop a cheap ultimate on them to burn it real fast. Right after the minions aggro a giant to make sure you wont have a giant after you during the next minion spawn. If the miniboss phase ended with aggroing a giant, deal with that one first (if possible).

I'm not sure, but I have a feeling the giant spawns are triggered by both time or main boss health %, whichever comes first. This means you have to fight all the giants anyway, so for myself I like to deal with them first individually before moving on to the main boss to have an easy continuation of the fight.

Pale order it was. Forgot to mention (running it with swarm mother head - equivalent of domihaus).
1 - 4: yes i did all that but its just my luck and the fact i was tired. Willl try later on again (with a proper attitude)

I can confirm this. It took me 8 runs before finally getting No Death/Speedrun thanks for this boss right here. It kept killing me due to environmental damage after grappling and he would send me into the void occasionally, then back to start.

Appreciate the effort, but your setup is not far away from what im playing and golding out items that would otherwise be useless for me in any other case is not an option for now. I feel much more comfortable with maining FGD than torug pact (which is an awesome set for pvp don't get me wrong).Thing is i had a bad run and luck. Good couple of times a lag spike that killed me, and a tab targeting problem on numerous occasions.

i think stamina is overall the HM in this areana. So many fights where you can do full DPS. Last fire boss for example when the fire windmill? happens. Cant attack him just do some aoe and ranged light attacks while magicka chars can pull their full rotation. Same goes when he is later in this shadow realm. Boss is healing and i can barely do any dps on this mini boss. Also the minotaur in the shadow realm. full of aoes around him i need to outheal while doing damage. Guess what magicka can do, right just stay away and do full damage :)

When you wan to get the stamina buffs you need to do green arena at last, leaving you with the minotaur on nearly 5m HP. Makes it really hard to pull of the speedrun when you have to deal with a 5m HP boss and have many parts where you cant do full dps.

Also last boss, with this cycle that gets smaler. So many times i died cause i make one step forward by accident. Due to being melee i need to stay pretty close and cant kite the normal aoes happening while also tryng to break the cycle. Its pretty hard on stamina melee class tbh. Feels really unbalanced und magicka have an easy life there.

Is there a way to avoid the final boss summoning two bone colossus? Sometimes she'll summon one guy who has been chained up, and then summon another a few seconds later from thin air. If you get two colossus up you're kind of screwed.

First clear was an all day pain in the ass but once I figured out the rythm of the last fight the second clear was done in one shot in under an hour, with the final boss done in 1 try. Probably will get no death my next run provided no glitches, detours for secrets or dumb mistakes. Overall I like it better than VMA.

It is not so hard, but i can feel some difficulty, but it is more boring, then difficult.
Already do no death - on second run there.

First run was like - where to go - the quest show there - it is waterfall - nay be this way ? It is not high - lets try.

Why i am dead - what way i must get there ?

And minitaur and last boss have some coward mechanics that i can not understand in first run.

Jump to platform to use portal ???

Very unexpected + you cannot try it before arena starts, so it is not comfortable solution.

All bosses are fat - not a lot of mechaniks but - 4,7 milions on minotaur if it is 3rd arena - is like hell. I think it imun-jump me to death. So fat.

Minotaur is problem even if it is first boss it is harder than 3 rd boss in blue arena even if minotaur is first. Jump each time make fight very very veeery long.

And i only get bows each time. Is there any other loot ??? May be i do wrong something ???

Not bad, it was interesting first 1-2 runs but ... maelstorm is easy but was interesting. If i did not go there 200+ times with random that did not give me staff.

This arena may be be the same - i needshield and sword here.

Out of curiosity can anyone tell me (a) what language these songs are in and (b) who sings them? I don't think I've ever heard anything quite like it but languages can sound very different when they are sung to those of us who aren't very fluent in them.

As for the arena... I went in blind last night on normal just to have a looksee at the mechs. I encountered several bugs, especially in the blue wing (got sent to random load screen during fights again and again) as well as during the mino fight (he didn't jump when he was supposed to the first time) and at the lava boss the orb wouldn't break. The grappling to interrupt during the mino fight is a bit much, especially since the minotaur sometimes lands on you as soon as you land and are trying to grapple to the next point.

That last boss is just a big fat DPS check and I wish ZOS would stop doing this. For 99% of the community, that can't just burn her through the adds she spawns and return back after going in the "other world" before she heals up too much, this is going to be hard on even the "easy" classes with the OP ring. And when ZOS puts out content that's new it just highlights how terrible the disparity in how some classes can ignore mechanics (mag sorcs and mag NBs) and how misguided ZOS's nerfs have been to other classes.

I'm sure in 6 months, the last boss will seem easy after we get used to the fight and ZOs continues its power creep, but some of the mechanics on that last fight are just terrible. This game does not have a proper tab targeting system and when you have giant skeletons that are covering your screen hitting you for 9K a shot and body blocking the enemy that one shots, it's super frustrating. All those dumb skeletons just magically go away when the boss gets to 10% which just makes it a DPS race.

I will say that I like how ZOS calmed down on the unavoidable environmental hazards and at least put the sleeping adds that awaken not in the middle of the arena, but I wish they'd design the fights such that high DPS means you clear it quicker and thus less chance to make a mistake rather than making it the end all to be all.

Other than the last boss who can be challenging to lower dps players, I felt the Arena overall was very easy on PTS and even thought they had to buff it lol. The minotaur boss isn't hard, it's just annoying and can be buggy.

Clear in first run on my stamDK with one death (build: chudan, briarheart and VO).
Side arenas are too easy. I love more punishing mechanichs, like poison flowerfs in vMA, or some oneshots.
Minotaur boss is tricky, tooks me 5+ minutes to find out what i should do (yes, all 5 mins he cant kill me)
Last boss is not melee friendly. Harder than side bosses, but not hard enough.

IMHO, vMA is harde, than Vateshran hollows.

And one more thing. This is arena. I dont like hidden bosses, secret boosts and jumping mechs. I want to kill stuff and have all top rewards (skins, colors, titles) only by complete vet, no-death and speedrun. Not by searching something on normal.

I find the 2nd fire boss more annoying as the protection buff from heavy attacking the magma balls can often not apply, and then it's a mad sprint back to the smaller platform.

After doing it on stamcro I decided to take it easy and went in with heavy attack cheese build( magplar), and ita pretty brain dead easy you just mow everything down with aoe.
    3 Goliaths no problem.
For melee Stam, master 2h with brawler is a real game changer for this fight IMHO, you can burn thru the adds super fast, some of the smaller ones can be repositioned with silver leash so they stay in the aoe.

I understand your frustration about bugs, complexity, and difficulty, but this arena is perfectly tuned. Once you know what to prioritize, and resolve your build weaknesses, you will easily pass each boss and feel good about it.

First time, I didn't die on the Minotaur. I died twice on the Pyrelord because I didn't understand the mechanics and then died 3 times on the Daedric Titan because I didn't have enough self healing (easily fixed with a single skill slot). I died maybe 20 times on the final boss figuring out what I was doing wrong. I realized that my champion points were done incorrectly, so I adjusted them and downed the boss the next time. The hardest thing about this arena was that it was day 1 of the DLC, which meant servers were laggy and weird.

Today I finished vet VH for the second time. I died twice to the Titan again (just being stupid, really) and once on the Minotaur because I wanted to see what would happen if I didn't interrupt all of the casters and accidentally grappled to the wrong platform. I expect on the third time to not die at all and get Spirit Slayer.

My character: Magblade, (3) False God, Thrassian, (5) Medusa, (1) Molag Kena, Maelstrom and Master's staves.

Are you picking up the extra buffs for the 2nd and 3rd portal? What resource are you struggling to maintain? Are you built to withstand direct damage and deal the most direct damage? Can you dodge roll things instead of blocking? Do you know when to dodge roll? Are you good with handling multiple telegraphs and mechanics all at once? Your answers to these questions determines why you think VH is difficult.

And as for people saying that using the ring is cheesing and shouldn't be required: it isn't required. And so what if it cheeses the arena? Cheese away. If it means you'll complete it, does anything else really matter?

Havent finished yet. Still struggling at the last boss.

My setup is: 5 false gods, 5 mother sorrow, pale order, swarm mother head, maelstrom inferno staff.
I have all red and blue buffs.
    My dps averages to ca.31k.

Had to do the whole arena over because i lost the buffs when i logged out the first time.
What kills me now the most often is a firestarter mage and my inability to interrupt him on time after i completed the third ring (Im saving the red pole at the end because i struggle to fight the rest of the boss phases with firestarter on when i take it as an earlier phase). Embarasingly i got killed by a firestarter 1% away from victory. Had couple of grapple bugs, but im not counting them.

What i hate is that after boss lands on the ground (crawling for AOE forms) the tab target is removed. Other than that i think it's just me being a potatoe.

This entire dungeon was, mostly, my favorite PvE content in the game. The bosses were quirky, but intuitable or solveable gimmicks. They were cool, they were fun, and I for the first time actually went exploring in ESO just to see what other weird stuff VH has inside it. I was enjoying myself in PvE in a way I literally never had before.

The last boss, however, is mind numbingly bad. For every 10m you spend in the first phase, you get to fight the boss for 30 seconds of it. The endless waves of adds make sure that I'm constantly met with busywork instead of mechanics, and the overall time for the fight is so incredibly punishing that every failure means another 10-15m of constant clicking. This boss is so bad it is literally physically painful. The aesthetic is so cool, and her moveset is great. I wish i got to actually fight her instead of clicking through minions for 15m until I finish boss three, and she wakes up two skeletons at once to bodyblock the chainshade even through tab target, while 17 unavoidable AoEs rain down on me.

I honestly thought nothing would ever be worse than VMA. I was so pleasantly surprised by VH.

    Wrong on both counts.

This fight, like VMA, is just honest to god some of the worst, most frustrating, least rewarding game design I have ever seen.

    Stop doing this.
Dead account. Y'all deserve each other.

    GLHF.
