ESO Next New class?

1st fix the 6 we have. To a point where they all somewhat make sense, with the understanding that everybody cannot be BiS in everything.

As it is now every class can do every role (kudos ZoS) but there is a sea of difference between a dk tank and a templar tank.

Every class has dead skills (skills that are out performed in just about every scenario with world skills). It wouldnt be a new class but they would feel new if we took care of the classes we already have. Just saying.
  • Sunderling
I can't ask for anything that makes sense because I am used to the standard archetypes when it comes to heals, dmg and tanking.

I'd love some additions to help Tanks be able to Greatsword + Sword and Shield tank rather than use a staff/magicka. I know I am pretty new but I've only heard that kind of build isn't very viable in the harder content... just something a little more traditional would be cool.

I love Stamblade, I do wish stealth worked a little differently though, more like it does on magblade in terms of duration..

For a new class I would love to see something like a Bard, or something capable of really buffing themselves or their teams.

I don't know, I've only been around a few months.

    1) Battlemage ain't happening because, technically, every class is a Battlemage.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't Battlemages formally trained at an official institute like the Battlespire or Shad Astula? That's how I differentiate them from Spellswords, who are more like mercenaries or wanderers imo.

Because if that's the case, then none of the current 6 classes is a Battlemage technically

A magic free warrior class would be greatly appreciated. Like an anti magic zealot of sorts. Could use dwemer technology for the added flair to make up for it.

Wouldnt matter. The second you start digging into the lore in that, it never makes sense for new classes. Or what, battle mages have a unique starting zone with their own first 10 level experience? Then what happens when a "battlemage" goes vamp or equips a resto staff etc etc.

There is far too much redundancy with classes in tes lore or what you see at the character creation screen in a given tes game. A new class in eso has to fufill a thematic aspect that is not already represented in game. People always want zos to consider new classes based on the rigid prebuilt stuff from other games, but also constantly remind zos that they should be able to play how they want and build their character how they want, just like other tes games, where you often ignore the prebuilt redundant choices like "spellblade" or "battlemage" or "gladiator".

Battlemage is a ridiculous suggestion for numerous reasons. At least the battlemage that has been portrayed in other tes games is.

Alteration and mystism are the 2 schools of magic that are most under represented atm in game. You could do something with that but that is only one piece to a class in eso. You still have to channel the design into a thematic archetype that is more focused as is the case with most classes in mmos.

I am really betting a very needed class. It has be a massive hole in this game. I think the next class name should be balance
    -Immortal Redeemer-
    -Extinguisher of Flames-
    -Gryphon Heart-
    -Potato-

If I edited a post, it was for spelling. It is always because of spelling....

Hahahahaha! Balancer. When the ball group with OP builds arrive you can swap your zerg group builds with OP builds of your opponents for one minute every hour xD

Damn I miss the time when you could detonate yourself in the middle of ball group to break that tactic and be the hero.

With them having the bard outfit and a datamine showed a bard personality I have to wonder if bard will be the next new class.

Bard would not work as a class in Elder Scrolls.

All bards are in ES are peeps that can play instruments. They aren't a "class" or even meant for combat.

With the addition of the outfit and the personality you can already be a bard to the fullest extent of ES lore.

Did you only play Skyrim? Because this is flatly untrue. Skyrim did away with player classes in general, but every Elder Scrolls game prior to that had Bard as a playable class:
    https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Arena:Classes
    https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Daggerfall:Classes
    https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Classes
    https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Classes

Now having said that, I do believe that Bard-like skills would be better addressed in ESO via a skill line rather than a full class. In fact, I don't think we need any new classes right now. But saying that the Bard class has never been a thing in Elder Scrolls games is simply inaccurate.

A Blood-Mage would be good. They can be quite different from Necro and while there are some blood-mage like abilities, there's a lot of room for new, more versatile ones!

They should release 2 new classes at once tbh!

If next year's chapter is in fact Cyrodiil (Which no doubt it is), then Battlemage would make the most sense in terms of a new class. Personally, I would love to see something new, like a new race or something (Dremora comes to mind), but I'm pretty sure it will most likely be a new class.

I thought they said they weren’t going to add another class for the next expansion.

I’m not holding my breath for anything special, as I have very little faith in the current team.

I’d prefer it if they fixed the ones that are currently in the game, but every change makes that seem like more and more of a pipe dream.

They aren't going to be adding a new class next expansion, so no worries there.

Instead of a new class or weapon how about a second skill line for existing weapons.

Like staff for instance could use a second line for melee style combat using a staff of course. Des could have different affects depending on the element and restro could be self buffing and healing more tankest or something.

A bard or battlemage would be cool, even though I think there could be better ways to introduce the flavor without creating a new class.

A new skill line - be it a bard/battle magic skill line with stamina/magicka morphs, or a new weapon line like a melee-ranged magicka weapon - would be best IMO.

We need some new classes and races for sure. IDK what a new class would be but I am also eager for new skill lines.

Someone mentioned sword/rune. I've wanted to play a functional non-staff caster since forever.

If a battlemages has abilities that encourage non-stave use it would be interesting.
PC NA. Various alts, trying to find a main, I have no idea what I'm doing.

Fingers crossed we don't get a new class but a 1 hand and rune/magic (whatever you wanna call it) weapon skill line, you can turn your existing classes into battle mages then! I've wanted to play a real melee mag blade since launch!

This is a MMO people there are going to be more classes added to the game. Get used to it.

has it ever occured to you that not every MMO works the same way? ESO would have worked better without any classes, yet people still are stuck in the ancient 90s mindset of every MMO needing to work the same way. sad.
Playing your character the way your character should play is all that matters. Play as well as you can but never betray the character. Doing so would make playing an mmoRPG pointless.

I really really hope there’s a new class, and I’d love for it to be a battlemage.

I hope ZoS Dev’s read this thread because there’s a good amount of idea’s here, but I see a lot of people saying no new class?

I think the theme ZoS use works incredibly well, and to NOT add a class next year would 1) throw the general playerbase off with the break in ZoS’s trend, but more importantly 2) put a real downer on the update. Although Summerset and Greymoore were incredible, not having a class is definitely a downfall.
Sure, you have the whiners, ‘fix game before add class’, but classes bring people back to the game, and classes keep the game alive. I understand a skill line for 1h and spell would be awesome, but why not revolve a class around that as their unique feature - a **battlemage**.

My thoughts for a battlemage would be a typically melee character with spells as additions to their skill set rather than the damage. So a CC (sidetrack: PLEASE add a CC to this class, not having a solid CC for necro/warden is crippling for certain gameplay elements), which could throw a character up and down, similar to flame clench but vertically. I’m rambling, but a battlemage would be great to see. ANY new class would be great to see, but not adding one I feel would cause an uproar, even if new skill lines are added.

I really hope they don't revolve a class around 1 hand and spell, that should be a weapon line so all classes can use it I know myself and many others have existing toons all leveled up and waiting for that weapon line. I'm not against a new class just don't revolve it around a weapon line

You'd be surprised how many people DO NOT want a class.

People want more weapons, new skill lines for existing classes.

A new class doesn't benefit the majority of the player base. If you don't make new characters or find yourself not using alts as much as your main, then a new class does nothing for those people.

Where as both of the above mentioned ideas benefit ALL players. If they end up adding a new class, they'll be quite dumb considering no class is nearly asked for as much as new weps/skill lines. Necromancer was the last class people really screeched for.

Battlemage, Monk, Dwemer Engineer, and Bard all would not work as good classes in this game as they aren't the kind of classes ESO attracts.

Battlemage already exists in staves/other classes. (Just add in new staves for each of the 5 schools of magic)

Monk cannot be a class as monks do not wield swords/weapons, so their abilities would be kind of weird. Again, just add in a gauntlet-fist-cuff type weapon. There's your monk class.

Dwemer Engineer is just a big no as there is no way a class could be made from this.

Bard already exists in game and you can be one right now.
