ESO Next New class?

Hello all, I love ESO and wanted to start a discussion on what you want the next new class to be? Since lately the formula (which is amazing by the way!) is every other expansion they release a new class! What other classes would you like to see in the elder scrolls online next year in 2021? Me personally I would want to see a conjurer that uses a lot of daedra summons to deal dps heal and e.c.t like a pet based class! That would be awesome! Let me know down below on what you want to see!

I've heard that the battlemage is the prime candidate.

Former sixth class of the game's beta.

How would battlemage be different from sorc? In TES the only difference between a battlemage and a sorcerer is that a battlemage uses weapons, while a sorcerer uses heavy armor. These differences are meaningless in ESO since class and weapons/armor are completely separate (and since hybrids, like a battlemage, are impossible with the current CP and stat-based damage scaling systems).

We already have the original intended 5th class (warden) and the most requested new class (necro), I'd rather see them add 1h and rune instead of a new class.

maybe a battlemage wouldn't be pushed to use staves to regen magicka through light/heavy attacks... some way of channeling magick based attacks through swords/axes, etc... other than that i don't know

I would really like to get some sort of non-staff magicka weapon, even if it absolutely has to be a wand. just let me make it look like a sword in the outfit system please

pretty sure sorcerers in Elder Scrolls lore were more of a typical mage focused person where instead of study they focused on practical learning of spells like mysticism, illusion, conjuration and enchanting and battle mages were frontline soldier mages who engaged in both melee and destruction spell combat in heavy armor with light training in restoration?

No new class thank you, all they make is pay to win classes, if they could not do that and somehow make it fit in with the original classes sure would be fine, and please no delayed heavy hitting skill as part of spammable like blastbones and sub assault, make a class similair so templar and DK both mag and stam in melee range :)

Nope, Battlemages don't use restoration, Sorcerers do. No Illusion for either one. https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Classes

Sorcerer: "Besting the most well-equipped fighters, they rely on the spells of the mystic arts. Unique to these mages is the bodily stamina to be armed with the thickest armor."
Alchemy, Alteration, Conjuration, Destruction, Heavy Armor, Mysticism, Restoration

Battlemage: "Able to resolve most conflicts with either spell or sword. They are a deadly mix of scholar and soldier."
Alchemy, Alteration, Blade, Blunt, Conjuration, Destruction, Mysticism

Breaking it down to skills relevant to an eso class:
Alchemy, Alteration, Conjuration, Destruction, Heavy Armor, Mysticism, Restoration
Alchemy, Alteration, Blade, Blunt, Conjuration, Destruction, Mysticism

Almost identical, except for the use of restoration by Sorcerers.

I enjoy support roles and I would love to see a class or skill line with longer group-oriented buffs (like at least 2 min or more). And not just the usual template buffs. Interesting ones like extra ulti gen, faster movement speed, faster combat speed, etc. Sure, there are many sets and passives that offer some of this but moving some of this to a class or skill line would be useful for more organized group settings. Just a thought.

Could definitely use a pure ranger class.

    Battlemage would be interesting.

At some point they're going to not be able to add a new class without stepping over the role of existing classes.

This is a MMO people there are going to be more classes added to the game. Get used to it.

-Battlemage, seems a strong contender but they are a few more character arch’s they could add.

    -Bard/Minstrel
    -Engineer/Dwemer style
    -Beserker/Barbarian/Witchdoctor
    -anything they want

I do doubt we will see one soon tho, I will be surprised if we get one next year. New weapons would be ace!!

I don't mind new classes....but the rest of this is spot-on. I wont play warden or necro because the delayed skills are just not fun, I don't need flashy animations, I need something to happen when I hit the button, not 2 seconds later. Some more magicka melee would be a welcome addition. It doesn't have to be a new class though, new skill lines are much preferable and more versatile.

A tinkerer would be great, and a bard could be interesting. The others you listed are either too similar to existing classes or are weapon-based classes (which, again, doesn't work because classes and weapons are entirely separate things in ESO. For example, you can already be a "berserker" or barbarian as a DK or a warden very easily by sticking to weapon abilities and matching class abilities). They've said themselves that classes are about "power fantasy", each class needs to be able to have its own unique style so that no two feel/look exactly the same to play.

...You just described what a NB is supposed to be... admittedly they don't actually get to use stealth in combat, which sucks, but as long as ZoS insists on "balancing" PvE and pvp together that wont change.

We'll never ever get a conjurer class because that is basically Sorcerer. Necromancers should of been "the" temporary summon class, but they failed at that, why do you think they'd ever make conjurer? If they made it, it would probably be not-pet-based, similar to necromancer.

That said, Im actually of the belief that we will NOT be getting a new class next year. Instead we'll be getting something big that involves our current classes. Either a new weapon, spell crafting, or an idea that has popped up recently: A fourth skill line in each class focusing on class flavor.

I can agree, I will be ultra surprised if we get one next year. My money is on Spell Crafting, New Weapons, or something involving our current classes.

This year felt kinda like a filler year in terms of new content, so Im thinking theyre planning on busting out something big next year.

I would love a new class but I would also want it to be an actual Elder Scrolls class and not another one of these out-of-canon classes like Warden, Dragonknight, Templar or Necromancer (I enjoy those classes but they are cribbed from generic fantasy and not from the unique world of TES).

I would also not be in favor of a hypothetical Battlemage class getting the monopoly on the one-hand-and-spell playstyle and would much prefer to see that introduced as its own new weapon type or otherwise implemented so that all classes can use it. Battlemage is also, as others have said, a bit blurry thematically with several other classes.

Just as the current classes are each amalgamations of several Morrowind classes, I think that you could make a compelling class out of a Bard-Monk-Pilgrim synthesis. Translated to how ZOS creates their DLC classes, you could divide them thusly:
    • Bard - Healing and buff/debuff skill tree (with more of an emphasis placed on buffs/debuffs and abilities themed as songs and instrumentation)
    • Pilgrim - Tanking skill tree (abilities themed as 'devotions' to various Elder Scrolls deities , both virtuous and vile)
    • Monk - Damage skill tree (themed as the classic unarmed, ascetic brawler)

It still leaves the challenge of actually naming the class (maybe just go with 'Pilgrim' since it has the most thematic overlap with the others) but I, for one, would love to play this!

Sorry to inform OP but if Zos does keep to their cadence of a class every other year they are already working on the next one so this thread will not be taken into consideration. Heck, even if they have decided to slow down and skip more than one year without adding a new class they are likely already working on the next one.

Even though it may appear to be the case, these things are not tossed together in a few month's time. Zos has been working on next year's chapter since early this year if not sometime last year.

But still fine to discuss these things as we do create a new thread on the subject a few times a month.

Some would say we have battlemages in previous TES games. Going for Intelligence and Strength while using Alteration, and destruction while wielding an axe and equipping heavy armor is the typical battlemage.
