If you don't like that kind of garment, don't use it - but don't try to stop others from using it.

So far I had the impression that most people don't care if the costume is "skimpy" or not. The problem is that it doesn't look good overall. Upper and lower parts don't fit together optically. Also, the shorts look to plain and modern compared to the jacket and corset (or whatever that is). Most say, and I agree, that the upper part looks fine, but the lower one looks as if some skirt or pants were missing. That's the whole problem. No need to talk about religion or rl discrimination.

The crotch flap is probably just a nod toward modesty. Without it we're just inching closer to TERA.

Eh, I played TERA for awhile. This is nothing compared to that game. Not even wandering into the same territory. o:)

(and honestly, it doesn't really feel any more 'risque' than previous outfits. It's just really badly designed from a stylistic standpoint.)

I'm actually all for the crotch flap, because without it you'd have a ton of blank space in the midsection. Just some skin clinging textures that tuck into a null flat crotch.

It's like painting a barbie doll, no depth/features. The flap is adding something there.

    PLEASE NO STRIPPER
OUTFITs 🙀 It is not pretty or cool.

And even if you like 'stripper outfits', that crotch flap is awful. Who designed this mess?

edit: and yeah, it would be better with either a skirt or pants. Although pants might make it too close to the Holiday in Balmora outfit.

Why tf would I like stripper outfits!! they’re degrading and there is enough of that garbage already in ESO.

I wanna see outfits that look like high-end haute couture and are artistically beautiful.

They also need to add more eyeshadow and makeup. 😊

If you want to be a sophisticated looking player, then go for it. Not everyone wants that. I personally enjoy the look and styles of which you are poking fun at in your own personal distaste. This isn't the real world and pretty sure we ALL play ESO to have a brief escape from the daily IRL grind. To each their own, we all deserve to enjoy customizing OUR toons as we see fit. I find it annoying people running around in just their underwear on ESO, or having a super ugly helmet on, gigantic shoulders or a wedding dress on while running a dungeon lol... but you know what? who cares, it's just a game so whatever! You and many others complaining about this silly topic should really just pop the preferential bias bubble and just let people have fun, just as you are wanting to with your own preference. It's a bit ridiculous that the design department of this game has to feel so pressured in every direction because of "appropriateness" and they shouldn't. It's probably the exact reason why so many styles in ESO look so off. Everything is a mixed bag of "do's and don'ts". Put all the variety in the game as-intended and let it go where it goes, I'm sure there would also be a lot more sales of cosmetic items too for the company. In the end, we all win.

If appearance of other players offends someone that bad, then maybe they should take a hard look at themselves and even if the game they are playing is right for them. Having an opinion is fine but fun is the entire point of a game, no one needs to force their preferential bias on anyone. It's just too bad that not everyone will be that respectful in the first place.

Oh lord. I don't mind "sexier" outfits, but that thing is just ugly the way it's combined. Is this supposed to be the female version of the Vampire noble costume? Because if so then they did a horrible job. Unless it's supposed to be the Vampire Noble and the Vampire [snip].

Remove the horrible crotch flap and replace the weird shorts with either a skirt or trousers. I'd personally prefer some trousers on that. Would give it a rather nice Kate Beckinsale in Van Helsing feel.

    THANK GOD something different

and people calling this sexist, do you even realize your hypocrisy when you think females should all dress like pretty little ballerinas?

I think you're jumping to a conclusion which isn't there. The OP said it would look good as a gown, but their main objection is the stupid flap down the front because it looks stupid and ugly, not because it's impractical.

And to be honest, no one has actually said it's sexist.

well ok but what else is meant when you read through the comments calling it

    "booty shorts"
    "distasteful"
    "stripper"
    "hooker"

    I mean...

I called it "distasteful" because it's hideous, man. I gave my thoughts on what I thought would make it a more cohesive outfit but I would also thank them to alternatively just lean into the provocative aspects of the outfit so it doesn't suffer such an identity crisis.

@scorpius2k1 Also I want to throw you a bone. I personally think the outfit is awful, and I'm going to critique it here, but seeing it in game isn't going to make me angry or lead me to harass anyone. I wouldn't yell at someone for their outfit in the street. Everyone deserves to dress the way they like, even if it's a little awful to me. Chase your bliss!

Third edit: the hooker talk isn't very nice. Hookers are people too and some of them have hearts of gold!

Hmm, instead of that shorts there could be a medium long skirt, I miss medium sized Skirts in this game anyway. Or just bring the Flap thingie all around the body, then you would have a skirt as well.

This looks like two different outfits stuck together and is just plain ugly, regardless of whether it is stripper-esque or not. I like the top half, but agree with the idea of putting a skirt or trousers on this to make it coherent.

Exactly this to a T. No one, and certainly not I, has complained that the outfit is too skimpy. Talk of "booty shorts" (because that's what they are) aside. The complaint is that the shorts and crotch flap look terrible with what would otherwise be a pretty great outfit.

I would have, but it'd be less jarring because it's be a continuation of the vest piece then, and it wouldn't halve and block the body. Color composition matters. Good catch!

I also have to agree with others here that I'd like to see the cut out shoulder go away. I am neutral towards the cut out chest window. Can take it or leave it. But the weird cut out shoulder has also become ubiquitous in costuming in this game and I'm super tired of it.

Might be in this case. It's obviously a big flirt with "goth" type of people, and maybe doesn't look like it's out of a video game of this type.

But there's no lack whatsoever of threads with dresscode/sexual moral content, about armors being bad because of this and that. It's actually worrying, that what people wear is becoming a matter of discussion.
And yes, of course - it's partly right. A heavy armor with lots of naked skin and such, that's all silly. But an obvious light armor, why not? If it's a mage type character, they rely on damage shields rather than armor - so that's a different thing.

As for myself, I'm a man, yes. But all my female characters wear very proper gear that could hardly upset anyone, and quite a few seems to think I'm a woman BECAUSE I don't dress my female toons like go-go girls. I get group invites and such, that I never have on other characters.
I know quite a few female players though - and many of these dress their characters in the typical "50 year old virgin guy living in moms basement" way. At guild events etc., sometimes we "s**t shame" them as a joke, and they all seem to think it's all funny, and do dancing and laughing emotes etc. If there's a new "skimpy" costume or style motif out, you can be sure they will wear it. Many people like it, if people don't, I suggest they stay indoors "IRL", and stay out of populated areas in ESO.

    __________________________Backstories:_________________________

Ras Kalik the Vestige, a renown Redguard warrior; He has been blessed to save Tamriel from Molag Bal’s destructive Planemeld while reuniting the Five Companions. His further accomplishments after defeating Molag Bal, has been to stop the destruction of Morrowind, the Clockwork City, return order to the isle of Summerset and create a new king in Wrothgar and a queen in Elsywer. These events have made him a living legend and continue to lead him into new adventures throughout Tamriel, as well as into the hearts of many ladies including the Elf Queen, Aryenn. Over many years of adventurous travels, Ras Kalik had become a loner, until he re-visited his homeland of Alik'r.

Alik'r and it's cities were overrun by the undead Ra-Netu and therefore he made an allegiance with Alik'r's own Ash'abah tribe. These Ash'abah with his help, cleansed the city of Sentinel in Alik'r desert and it's surrounding areas of the undead brought to life by the Withered Hand. After rescuing Sentinel from the undead zombies, King Fahara’jad’s personal bodyguard the Goliath of Hammerfell, who was given this name by Imperials in the region; was asked to assist the tribe after learning of the defeat of the Withered Hand to the Ash'abah. Kalik promised Goliath he would task him with fighting living enemies on the battlefield if he so desired. Goliath being a Yokudan warrior wields a massive sword in respect to the Ansei, a gift given by the Imperial, Cinan Tharn. Not many soldiers are able to wield double two handed weapons, but Goliath loves to get up and personal in a fight, so he also carries a giant maul, both weapons laced with magical flames.

Jux Blackheart is a master thief that masquerades as a Bard at the Sisters of the Sands inn, with his younger sidekick Lucky Hunch for pilfering and gambling during this time. Jux was known to infiltrate any towns bank vault he came across and even delved into Ayelid ruins without detection. Kalik can vividly recall the night he met the famed thief. Jux found himself rummaging thru a slightly inebriated Kalik’s pocket for too long, on a full-mooned night and because of his greed and the glimmer of his golden armor in the moonlight. He lost his left pinky fingertip as a lesson! But in return, he gained a new friend, as it was his first time since a child being caught red-handed...

Upon arrival back in the Alik'r after many moons of adventuring, Ras Kalik ventures to Bergama. Visiting The Winking Jackal, he runs into Jux Blackheart, who introduces him to the coin game Crowns vs Forebearers (Heads vs Tails) and Golden Dwemer (RBG).... Jux constantly takes gold from the unfortunate thru theft or gambling, his biggest gambling victim is actually his partner in crime known as Lucky Hunch the Gambler. Lucky doesn't mind losing any gold coins to Jux... as Jux saved him from Altmer slavers in Summerset, by stealing a key and sending him on a boat to the mainland years prior. Lucky spent years in slavery with Khajiits in Summerset and picked up the art of subterfuge, using illusion magic disguises and stealing there.

Kaotik Von’Daemon an outcast, and a half-caste between a Breton mother and a Redguard father. Kaotik become a pariah due to his conjuration of Daedra pets. He was taught healing magic during his childhood years by his Breton mother. His father due to Redguard customs exiled him from the desert, sending him by wagon caravan to be a soldier in the war in Cyrodiil. He happened to meet Kalik while traveling from Alik'r, during this long caravan ride the caravan he was in was ambushed in Bangkorai by a group of bandits. Kalik by chance was also traveling thru this area on his Auridon Warhorse (which was bestowed to him by his friend, Darien Gautier). During this ambush, Kalik was able to rescue five hostages from the bandits. Kaotik was the first rescued, and Ras Kalik also recruited him to be in the Ash'abah tribe. These core Ash'abah tribesmen may never be seen together in travel as they partake in their own adventures but they always know what each other is doing; as they frequent a hideout in northern Bankorai. Their hideout an old Orc castle ruin, is kept watch by Nuzhimeh and she passes messages written between them, and frequently they also enjoy her company and her bed.

The other men rescued were a Dunmer banker, an Imperial mercenary and two other soldiers, an Imperial and a Breton Knight, stating proudly he was an Akavir descendent. One of the Imperials, Cinan, claimed to be related to Abnur Tharn the Battlemage of the Imperial Elder Council (One of Ras Kalik's mentors in the Five Companions). Cinan Tharn was really Abnur's drunkard treasure hunting illegitimate son. He was caught smuggling artifacts out of the Ayleid ruins in Cyrodiil and the elder of the two Imperials was Tyrus Septim a retired Imperial navy battle-mage (now a Lycan mercenary living in the city of Rimmen) and guard to the Tharn family. As much as Abnur Tharn hated his half-sister Euraxia, he dislikes his bas†ard son Cinan more. Tyrus now a ruffian and privateer had been paid by Abnur Tharn to watch over Cinan as much as possible. Cinan Tharn a drunkard, loves to drink at least a quarter barrel of Nord mead before he raids various delves and dungeons for relics to sell on the black market. Cinan also plans to one day, run an illegal gambling ring... which he thinks will net him more gold for his wares.

The Dunmer captive shackled to the Imperials looked familiar to Kalik from his time in Morrowind.... and he recognized him as Tythis Andromo a House Telvanni slave-owner and banker from Vvardenfell. During a rough interrogation to Tythis, Ras Kalik learnt why the bandits accosted him. The racist Dunmer was providing slaves as soldiers for the Three Banner War. The bandits were trying to negotiate a lucrative ransom for Andromo and the Imperials.... Kalik did not need any of this gold and he could never set Tythis free as he did with the two Imperial soldiers. His past involvement with slavery and war crimes, made Kalik's blood boil. He chose not to execute Tythis, as he figured the worse punishment for this former rich and opulent slave owner, is to now be an imprisoned servant for Ras Kalik and the tribe.

Herzog Zwei the Genesis a reknown Imperial/Akavirri battle-mage. His roots going back to Akavir through his mother’s bloodline. (His mother is descended from the Akaviri, through Versidue-Shae, and his Imperial father met her in Hakoshae, while traveling) Herzog earned the nickname "the Genesis" from his father as a child, as he was his mother's first born child, and last, as she tragically died in child-birth.

Herzog was seeking to purchase an artifact from Cinan Tharn, before their capture and was meeting Tyrus while in Rimmen, who introduced him to Cinan. This artifact being the Ayelid artifact; the sword Sinweaver. After their rescue and the exchange of gold to Cinan for the sword he decided to slip away before Ras Kalik could question who he was, and why the Akavir descendant really wanted that sword. Herzog was headed to Nagastani — An Ayleid ruin in eastern Cyrodiil. He had read in scrolls that the Sword would give him magical powers to meet his mothers spirit, if he performed an Ayleid ritual at an old shrine hidden there. Equipped with the artifact sword, he was off to start his own adventure but Ras Kalik, did indeed notice the sword however and instead sent a letter to Jux Blackheart (whom also was interested in Ayleid treasures), to attempt to find Herzog and acquire the sword. (*Azani Blackheart in Elder Scroll's Oblivion is Jux's descendant some 747 years later)

And so the Redguard, Imperial and Akaviri men parted ways ... While Ras Kalik went off to Elsweyr to encounter the latest threat to Tamriel, with Abnur Tharn and Sai Sahan - - DRAGONS!! Little did Ras Kalik know a few people were awaiting him in Senchal besides Sai. A necromancer survived his attack on the Withered Hand, while in Alik'r. The necromancer known as Auriek Siet'ka is also following him to the land of the Khajiits and Cacique the Sage of Ius a Shaman mystic who has become attuned spiritually with Tu'whacca (a Redguard God) and Ius (the Animal God), after being burned severely by the escaped dragons in Elsywer, is awaiting his arrival also. Aurik is a soldier of the Daggerfall Covenant that was introduced to necromancy while in the military, even though this magicka art is not spoken of openly by most of the Military leaders. He came to Alik'r and worked with the Withered Hand before Ras Kalik intervened on their plans. After the defeat of the Withered Hand, he aligned with the Worm Cult, and is constantly adapting and perfecting his necromantic arts.

After his journey to Rimmen, Kalik heads south to Senchal, in the southern regions of Elyswer. This new adventure will also put him on a path to meet a strange Redguard man. The stranger which was infected with an untreated Peyrite disease and also was the exiled from the Order of the New Moon cult, due to his sickness. He originally joined the cult to worship Laatvulon, the green dragon, mistakenly thinking it was the Daedric prince Peyrite. This confused and suffering cultist is known as Tsar al-Bomba and he is on a path to spread the disease. He was originally infected in Orccrest while recruiting members there. Can Ras Kalik and the shaman Cacique cure this poor soul, only time will tell. Little does Tsar al-Bomba know, that his infection is tied to Vampirism, and eventually the desire for blood will take over his mind. Senchal also offers Kalik his latest love interest... Aeliah. Whom he fondly led thru battles with the Dragonguard.

After the trek thru the heat, tropical and desert climate of Northern and Southern Elyswer, Ras Kalik heads north to the cold mountain range of Skyrim. His companion friend Lyris beckons for him with a letter sent by crow...

Movárth Piquine - a former vampire hunter (now infected), within the Fighter's Guild (and a secretive necromancer) was in Skyrim working with the Morthaal Guard. On a patrol mission he was caught in Frewien's ice curse outside of Morthaal with the frozen undead. Movárth's vampiric infection kept him from becoming an undead minion to the curse. He was able to use necromantic ice-magic to encase himself safely until he was freed with Freiwen, when the Vestige Ras Kalik broke the curse.

Uri Ice-Heart - brother of Urfon Ice-Heart. The twin sons of Atli and Oljourn Ice-Heart. The Ice-Heart family are originally from Markarth but now reside on the Jerall Mountain range near Cyrodiil, with their younger sister Araki. The twins had joined the Winterborn Reachmen while living in Markarth. Urfon pushed west to Orsinium with the Winterborn Clan, leaving his family behind. Uri stayed behind with his parents and sister to live in the family cabin for safety, avoiding the Vampire plague infiltrating the Reach. After news reaches him and he hears of Urfon's death... Uri leaves and heads home and is seeking vengeance. Meanwhile, his sister has also moved on to Windhelm to join the Fighter's guild. He will visit his sister, once before going to seek vengeance and she will craft him armor mixed with ice, called Stalhrim armor. Uri fearing death, after his brother's passing, falls victim to the convincing talk of Movárth at a Nordic tavern, and will also becomes a vampire.

Nah, this is just a mix of tacky and bad taste imo when I look at it. It is not sexy in the least, that is my issue.

Of course it is not the real world. Though many, including myself waited for a vampire dlc for a long time. Bad enough we got an ulti that looks like a hairless ape with horns but now this outfit, smh 🤷🏻‍♀️

The vampire lord outfit was made classy and well done.

ZOS should give the same effort towards the female population for a vampiress outfit.

They should create something that any Goth Goddess would be happy to have in one of her many extra coffins for clothes. I was certainly waiting for that and not this mess, I feel their creative team could fix very quickly.

If the vampire lord outfit is changed to booty shorts and a leather cap, then talk....

I certainly dress seductive irl just not gaudy. This outfit needs a rework to be alluring and sexy. Rn it is a fashion victim upon itself, which is why I am giving my feedback.

Be careful you might just fall off of your tall horse with your keyboard opinions xD

I LOVE the male version of the outfit. It's just a LITTLE over the top but still classy as heck. They need to NOT make the female version trash in comparison. And the male version looks pretty good on my female characters. It they gave the female one pants, got rid of the chest window and shoulder cut out it would look just as classy on male characters and give both male and female characters more and better options!

Nothing I could really add other people have not already said, but this outfit really does need a rework before going live. The boots, short pants, and front flap just don't work together. Also doesn't look very gothic to me either.

Really, everyone's losing their minds over a little loincloth? I'm more bothered about the shamelessly exposed cleavage.

They should just make the so called "crotch flap" a bit smaller and it would be totally fine.

Don't forget to add the Disclaimer to your OP that not all datamined or PTS items make it into Live.

Since this whole thread is conjecture at this point.

You know when the new vampire costume came out my first thought was, "Wow I wish they had made a gown in that same kind of style!" And instead they apparently did THIS. The TOP is gorgeous. But... what the Hades were you thinking when you designed the bottom ZOS??? BOOTY SHORTS??? REALLY??? And boots. And, worst of all... the dreaded crotch flap. For the love of the Divines PLEASE rethink this! It's bloody AWFUL! Either give it a full length skirt or PANTS and, by all that is holy, get RID of the crotch flap. I'm begging you here. This is ridiculous.

    Editing to add some things.
Disclaimer This conversation is experiencing some derailment as people argue about whether or not it's okay to have skimpy or sexy outfits. That's absolutely not the topic here. I called them booty shorts because that's what they are. I offered no judgement on those who wear booty shorts in real life. The problem with the outfit is that it is a terrible mishmash of conflicting styles that, individually, are perfectly okay, but that thrown together this way look absolutely terrible.

ZOS has done skimpy outfits right in the past. Here's an example:

    Egg-Sister-Bias-Cut-Casual-Wear-Female-Front.jpg

It looks like something that belongs in Tamriel. If they want to make an outfit with the style of shorts they are using on this vampire costume I'm all for it. But please put them with an outfit that makes sense. Tamriel is woefully low on swimwear. By all means, hook us up!

Now as to the outfit in question, here's your obvious fixes ZOS:

    Holiday-in-Balmora-Female-Close-Front.jpg

Still sexy. No ridiculous flaps. Clearly, you already know how to do this since you've done it twice. If you're determined to change it up give us some different boots. Maybe some below the knee.

OR just give it a simple elegant skirt like this one:

    Jarl-Justices-Formal-Frock-Female-Front.jpg

Better still... make it in both options. I'd buy them both in a heartbeat.

You made a lot of people really mad when you stuck pants on the Elven Hero costume even though the character that wears it in the trailer certainly showed some bare thigh. This is not the way to fix that.

I think it would look better if they turned the vest into an overcoat - knee or ankle length. That would match the "crotch flap" and better complete the outfit.

But I tend not like the costumes on ESO generally. The Dark Brotherhood Robe is the only one I've ever really liked.
