Yeah, no one is playing this game anymore... we are seeing record numbers of people dropping out, unsubscribing, and just simply not playing.

Oh yeah, sorry... my bad. More people are playing this game than ever before...

Are there issues? Of course. But I don't think it makes the game unplayable.... and apparently I'm in good company.

If you can't even log on, that is the very definition of "unplayable", surely?

Just because rats may, naively, run towards some cheese in an unfamiliar trap, that doesn't mean a trap is a good place for rats to be.

Fair point, but not being able to log in isn't a constant state. Most of the issues that come up like this are fixed relatively quickly.

I word it like this. It is enjoyable when things work. But be prepared for bugs and broken promises. If you want play it casually and enjoy overland stuff which there is a lot then go for it, but if you play for the numbers and enjoy endgame and pvp then you will be frustrated at ZoS every day. But I normally point them to G2A to get it on the cheap.

I can't even quest in overland without my skill bar giving up.

I would yes, because I like showing my friends the elder scrolls universe. However, I would not advise them to invest in the game via micro transaction, subscribing to ESO plus unless it’s a game they really enjoy and are confident it’s something they’ll commit to.

Lots of content for 10-15$, but I've made it clear to my friends that vet players don't get any respect from the devs and they only care about money.

No, if I met someone who hadn't experienced the Elder Scrolls before I'd just recommend Skyrim remastered. If you could still access it I'd say play Oblivion, too. But if this game were to be someone's first impression of Nirn I'm afraid they'd wonder about my tastes. That being said if you ARE a huge fan of Tamriel and the massive worlds that MMOs offer this can be a great game. Really, this game is a wonderful conglomeration of many great ideas for online play, and it is beautiful when it works.

TESO is a good game. Better than WoW in quests and better then GW2 in game mechanics (werewolves, vampires, Law system).

ZOS have a worst technical team of all this games, but that's another question. Unfortunately, it cannot be resolved by voting on the forum.

I've recommended this game to 5 friends over the years. They all left due to performance or otherwise really bad judgement by the developers.

I wouldn't do this to anyone I care about. This game could be great, but Zenimax insists on being a cash hungry while never addressing the community.

    Stay away at all costs!

Of course we all invested a lot of our time, money and soul in this game, we have friends in game, we have our characters and game knowledge so we cling to ESO.. but for new player? Nothing to do here.

If he is looking for walk in park simulator, it's not 2003, market is full with huge colorful open worlds.

If they had the spare change to buy it and wanted to try it, sure.

I would not recommend it as a main game for non-TES lore fans.
You need to tolerate alot of BS, mismanagement and nickle n dimeing to enjoy ESO atm.

    - Poor performance
    - Totally stale large scale PvP
    - Said PvP being even worse thanks to performance
    - More and more crown store items that some would see as p2w
    - Hammer balancing that make ppl wtf every 3 months
    - Unable to build our own houses from ground up or to decorate existing ones well enough thanks to severe limits in number of items
    - Storage system that is absolute joke.

But there is a chance I would purchase said beard if it was for sale. I am guilty of hoarding beards and lizards.

The base game is really cheap, so I'd recommend it, if they just had to buy that, and not sub etc., because at the moment I don't think subbing is worth it (unless you are exclusively into housing, for instance, and you need the double slot space for the bigger houses). The game itself is beautiful, has many hours of questing, and exploration, and performance issues don't affect those. It's only when you go into the end-game area of things that performance and bugs take a toll. But for a new player I don't think it matters, and for all the areas/content they can get for the base ga,e price, I'd recommend it.
