Actually, this is an exploit, especially if it also comes with the pre-order bonuses or they are able to retain skills, etc.

How is it an exploit to receive pre-order bonuses? How can you stop that from happening?

They wouldn't to people who already own it, but they probably would to people who abuse it with intent of doing so :)

he explicitly also mentioned the preorder bonus.
And it seems that Greymoor is currently handled like an old Chapter, so you can only get there with ESO+.

This is offtopic, but aside from this, we got a nice new fresh set of bugs.

We'll find out, but I doubt they're gonna penalize people for receiving the access and bonus stuff, they'll probs leave you with the treasuremaps and remove the other things, and only penalize those that as I said before, abused it with intent in a more serious manner.

The CE treasure maps are complete garbage anyway.

No reason to penalize anyone. The convoluted way they market ESO+ and then give chapters a special name means that quite a few people will have no idea that they shouldn't have access to the new zone.

Hey Adarixx, just to confirm you can still travel to Western Skyrim? If so, can we have your User ID to investigate further?

Sorry for the late reply. Yes I have been able to travel there since yesterday without having purchased and am about to check again now. You can use my user ID if you still need and do whatever you guys need to do :) I only entered the zone twice briefly just to confirm I could though, didn't run around at all

Well, I bought Greymoor and seeing the completely UNPROFESSIONAL silence yet again from Bethesda/Zenimax, I won't be buying anything related to them any longer. I am completely underwhelmed and disappointed with Greymoor, especially knowing so many are getting it for free. The design (especially Blackreach) is great however. Can we expect refunds for their mess up? Crowns? Surely not, even though this is the SECOND year in a row this same thing happened. I am not a compensation type, but if ZoS is going to allow a chapter to slip through as a freebie due to their own mistakes then it's only fair. I surely hope they will get their act together and stop repeating historical mistakes time and time again. ESO and it's playerbase surely deserve better and at the end of the day so does the team that designs it. Too bad it hasn't been that way since launch. Hopefully number 7 will be the lucky number for ESO because 6+ years sure hasn't shown much improvement. At this point, I highly doubt anything will change, Bethesda/Zenimax waited too long and didn't keep on top of things like they should have. ESO is quickly becoming a Fallout76 quality game to which there is no surprise.

I still enjoy ESO and will continue to play, but I'm yet another subscriber that has added themselves to this list:

It says in the first sentence of the fifth paragraph of the patch notes that this is a free update and part of the base game.

I’m confused. Is it not meant to be free?

Why is Proudspire available for turnkey purchase in the store when you can't access the new DLC zone?

It's sort of silly when the game let's you buy the new home but never lets you exit it.....

I think it has always been that way for Chapter housing. You can buy the house without owning the Chapter, but you have to enter from outside of the zone, and you return to there when you leave.

How does the person control mail sent by Zos. It’s not an exploit. It’s Zos’ mistake. The player is not at fault.

The player is only "at fault" if they treat it like a free gift, knowing that it is not one, especially if they then hide it in an effort to retain the free gift so it is not taken away.

It says update 26 is a free update, not Greymoor. Update 26 was released along side Greymoor. The rest of that paragraph goes on to summarize what is included in the free part.

from what I understood, the requirement is having a chapter unlocked. just like prior events, everyone who has the chapter - gets rewards even if they didn't participate in reward unlocking activities. participation is not the prerequisite, ownership of the chapter is. so if these people didn't buy the chapter and will not buy the chapter for the event, and had their acess originally removed? they are not getting rewards, so... what exactly is the problem?

Problem is remain that people who openly exploited bug to get access to main feature of Chapter are still carry abused antiquity system items, namely Mythic item sets. Those players were not punished for openly abusing bug and even items that they unfairly got were not taken away.

right. but that has nothing to do with upcoming event and its rewards, which seems to be the concern expressed in the post i'm replying to. as in, these people are NOT eligible for event rewards unless they purchase the chapter

Depends on how they internally determine who gets the rewards. Whether they check for ownership of the chapter, or whether they check access to Antiquities.

If they could discover who had Antiquities access without Greymoor due to the exploit -- surely they could have removed those skill lines from those exploiters. But they didn't.

So basically the upset here is that "exploiters" would be technically helping us all out hitting the goal IF they even have access to Greymoor? Ok then. That original chapter issue really has nothing to do with the current event other than an advantage for everyone, and again only IF they actually have access to anything if they didn't buy it (which ZOS said had been fixed). So what, they got a few items for free and how do any of us ACTUALLY know what happened to those players that did take advantage? This screams that "we want some sort of compensation for free because... unfairness"...something that didn't even directly affect those that were LEGIT and bought it. Zos no doubt took a huge hit for it already and "we want more" seems a bit greedy and petty. Next time someone steals something from the store your shop at, make sure to ask the management there for compensation from their loss.

The few people suddenly complaining about this topic almost 5 months later out of the blue throwing salt are probably the same ones that would probably have played the chapter and "exploited" it themselves if they had gotten access for free while the bug still existed. They want it for FREE too right? As another user said on a similar topic today, a bit quid pro quo indeed.

For those of us that legitimately bought it we got what we paid for already and that's all we should expect, end of story. Time to move on.

I dont care about this event. What I care about is inadequate zos policy of punishing people. Fount a bug to bit more of resources - get banned... Fount a way to exploit main feature of next chapter, spread info about it to make more people exploit it, and together openly exploit it, even stream it - literally get no punushment months later, nor even a single word from zos. On EU quite a lot people exploited it and they were not even afraid of doing it, and they just laugh at people who refused to exploit it. @ZOS_GinaBruno
