Who would expect us to be able to play on a Patch day? Silly you!
According to a post in "Maintenance Announcment" forum, apparently there was an issue discovered when they opened the megaservers after patch maintenance, and they locked the servers while they investigate. ETA as soon as they figure out the full scope.
Mind you, I don't know what that issue is, but to be entirely honest, I'm not surprised. I was kinda expecting this remote launch to have a few hiccups...more so than normal patch releases due to the fact this patch is the first to be remote launched as a result of our ongoing pandemic.
But on the bright side, I did see the new cinematic and ransacked the opening room of the new tutorial, so there's a start.
I'm willing to bet one hamster that it was the fact that everyone could access the new areas, including players who hadn't bought Greymoor.

Well, I'm assuming that most of the work is going to involve first putting back up the paywalls, and then having to kick players who don't belong back to the base game.
This might be some time. Grab your popcorn, boys and girls, this is about to get interesting.

Btw, the reason why the servers got taken down is because players who didn't purchase greymoor could still access the chapter. We will most likely see a rollback.

Because I'm sure that this is going to come with a roll-back.
Well, now I'm actually glad I had to spend the first 10 minutes after I logged in messing with an add-on that wasn't ready for the new content release, so all I had time to do was tick the wayshrine in Solitude before getting kicked.

It is a little disappointing that because some people may be able to experience the new zones without purchasing them the servers get taken down straight away; as if that is the biggest and most game breaking thing ever. Could have let them see the new zones for a day or so.
