This is the official feedback thread for the new houses and furnishings. Specific feedback that the team is looking for includes the following:
  • What are your general thoughts on new houses?
  • What do you think of the new furnishings?
  • This update adds a new way to move furnishings, to make it easier to position furnishings exactly where you want them. If you tried out the new Precision Editing mode:
    • Was it clear how to manipulate furnishings in this mode?
    • Did you encounter any issues with Precision Editing?
    • Did it make it easier for you to decorate the way you wanted to?
  • Do you have any other general feedback?

    Will you be adding any structural items later in the PTS cycle?
    There were no new walls, floors, stairs, doors etc.
    I really was hoping to be able to build with new stuff.
    It would be a very disappointing direction to take housing if you weren't going to support those that design and build.
    There was nothing in the first DLC either

    I thought the same too. Messaged one of my friends to come check it out, just to make sure it wasn't just me. Ended up buying a wooden plank and made my own ramp to explore inside.

    Editing this because I found another bug. some of the boulders by the funky walk texture you clip through the map.

    I really like Proudspire Manor. The rooms are a good size and the outdoor patio is perfect. The furnished version is almost all brand new furniture which I also really like - it fits the house perfectly.

    The only omission I see is fireplaces? There are none and I would expect in this cold land that each room would have one. As the architecture is different from what we currently have in game, I can't think of any of the existing fireplaces that would match the decor. Is it possible to add fireplaces?

    The two houses look very promising, although the vampire manor is bugged as others have posted already. I like that Proudspire Manor is a large home, so the amount of slots allows for really intricate furnishing.

    I’m conflicted on the new furnishings. Mind you I haven’t seen the antiquities furnishings yet.
    Positive:
    - Hearth/food items. They are just brilliant. Very detailed, interesting items, and plenty of them.
    - Vampire furniture. They look very gothic, resembles Alinor furniture. Lighting is especially noteworthy.
    - Texture quality of the new items is good
    - Paintings are great
    - Snowy trees
    - That fishing boat achievement furniture. Holy ****.

    Negative:
    - Solitude furniture looks really... bland. Very bland in fact. The noble/epic variants are decent, and I can see myself using them, but the plain ones are simply too rough and cheap looking. Combined with the gray colour scheme of Proudspire, it feels very boring and lacking.
    - Bugged Vampire castle.
    - Achievement furniture. The boat is amazing, but the rest are a bit boring.
    - No new items at the master writ merchant. Perhaps coming later?
    - Can’t preview antiquity furniture.

    Suggestion:
    The furnished version of Proudspire should include at least more of the noble type Solitude furniture, as the base ones look very boring.
    Some vampire furniture items look too empty. Cupboards, wineracks, etc, some have empty spaces that can’t really be filled. These will not be popular.

    Feedback so far

    The Good:
    Proudspire Manor is great.
    Vampire furniture is great, really dig the Gothic theme.
    The food furnishings look great.

    The Bad:
    New furniture additions in some categories are far to sparse. Take the courtyard category for instance, there's neither a Vampire or Solitude fountain type furnishing to be found. Same goes for the selection of structure building materials.
    No fireplace furnishing. In a place like Skyrim you'd certainly expect to find one inside a home.
    No way to preview Antiquity furniture to see if it is worth pursuing or not.

    • What are your general thoughts on new houses?
    Proudspire is a little too fancy for my personal taste. I prefer the look of the other buildings in solitude, or the farms. But for Proudspire itself my only issue is the lack of a yard.
    Bastion Sanguinaris wouldn't load for me (the building part) so I didn't get to look at it much yet. I know it's not really my style either. I prefer lots, cabins and farm houses really so not into the mansions and castles and town houses much.
    • What do you think of the new furnishings?
    I think most of the new furnishings look great, though it would have been nice to have some of the new wells. And more of the new trees/flora.
    • Do you have any other general feedback?
    Wiljar's house, pilgrim's lodge jarl morryn's cabin would all make good houses for player housing for those in the housing community (judging by threads I think that's quite alot of people) who want more medium sized houses with more yard/more structured houses that don't have too much space to try and fill. and more "normal" houses.

    posting this here for the housing bug as well.

    here's a bug currently with the new vampire home and the permanent vamp lord form.

    I was a female toon and if I transformed and then switched bars, my utl on one bar was the vampire and the next bar ult was a healing one.
    my character would stay in her normal form but grow huge and then upon switching to the non vampire lord bar I would get smaller and then vise versa. The animation would play but she would stay in her normal appearance.

    I'm wearing the fish skin and the tavern costume if that has anything to do with it.xnsncvgaiqzl.png

    This one she took a quick stroll this morning.

    The underground house is certainly not to the taste of this one but she took a look anyway. Alas she could not get beyond the entrance hall. Also the two galleries at the entrance were confusing - they felt they should go somewhere but just ended in rock.

    The Solitude house is very well lit inside - all interiors should be this bright and useable please! This is actually pretty much the only house interior that has not made this one sigh with despair at the forthcoming candles budget.

    The furnishings as this one could find in the store. The vampiric is very Alinor. You could mix and match them nicely, although neither is really to the taste of this one.

    The Solitude ones - well done on the bowl of onions to keep away all the vampires. Yes there are things here this one things she can use - baskets, buckets, tools etc. Also the cow rug is nice. Can we now have a pet cow?

    Others have already posted feedback on new purchasable furnishing sets and houses. But I wanted to take a look at how the new Antique furnishings are holding up. I can't find them in any of the template testing containers however. I can find the new Mystic Set armors but not the furnishings or collectibles for that matter.

    Am I missing something or are they not available?

    Love to hear your response!

    why do you refuse to listen. This type of stuff costs you 1os of thousands of lost revenue, and yet you keep doing it. Finally you stopped adding broken down houses so now we have to fix the nice looking houses with broken down furniture.

    I got to test out the new precision placement UI.
    Oh my god... it is absolutely sublime. I love the way works. So smooth, so easy and intuitive.
    I just love building things and this is a game changer. It makes things so much easier.
    The free movement of the camera has completely done away with the issue of trying to align items that have an off-centred camera position (like the long Alinor walls)
    Huge congrats to the housing team for the design on this UI.

    Hey,

    They said before that it's like in Europe for the old building that stay there for centuries.

    Here in Europe it's very common for very ancient family to keep the furniture past generations (table, bed, or old "buffet" i live in Provence and it's an old practice ... :neutral: ) and i find it feels well the nord mentality : building durable structure/furniture.

    It seems the dev were going also with this in mind for the furniture. And for once I find it fits well :smile:

    I'm fine with that because we have a bunch of new housing item including antiquities that are majestic <3

    Hey all,

    the new food furniture are amazing but maybe on this item : "Solitude Stein, Rustic"

    You could have it with the hydromel/beer inside like in the prologue quest where we can see it with beer foam overflowing a bit. It will be so cool to have a Stein with Hydromel like the other drink seen fulfilled with wine or blood <3

    EDIT 1 : And I have to say that the artist who have done the detail on the Food are amazing, Bravo to them ! And this time we don't have low resolution like elsweyr furnishing when they came out thanks for that <3 And to conclude we have the painting of DragonHold and the ones of This chapter thank you for listening the feedback and request of the housing community (we need to say it when you give us something we wanted) <3

    First impressions:

    - Vampire mansion: aside from the glitch that only grants access to the interior if you're a vampire lord and use your wings to fly up there (jk), the interior of the house is very well done. It's dark and oppressive, despite the high ceilings, and I left the house with the impression I hadn't seen everything.

    The views are gorgeous, but still doesn't entice me to buy it. For one, it isn't my style, but it's also huge and I prefer smaller houses.

    - Proudspire: lovely interior, very bright and I like the architecture (as and aside, this is the only Elder Scrolls game I've ever played). For me, the views from the patio looked like they hadn't rendered completely.

    Thank you for making it a (good) house we can buy with gold!

    - Furnishings: I just checked the ones that come with the houses and the ones available on the furnishing vendors. I like what I've seen so far and I can already see uses for many of them.

    I really like that you guys introduced another wine rack with bottles already in it, but I'd expect that a self-respecting Nord would have more bottles in their wine racks.

    - Housing editor: I haven't had time to play with it yet, but the precision placement is a very welcomed tool. The arrows that appear when in editing mode isn't something I care for, though. They are redundant* and obscure my view when trying to place furnishings.

    * I still remember how frustrating it was to figure out the housing editor, and I don't think that adding arrows around the furnishing will help with that. It might be a better idea to add a text box with instructions when we hover over the already existing icons on the bottom of the screen.

    IMO, those arrows just clutter the screen (imagine trying to work with that in first mode and placing small items) and might lead people who are new to housing into thinking they can click on those arrows to move stuff.

    • What are your general thoughts on new houses?
    • What do you think of the new furnishings?
    • Do you have any other general feedback?
    First, thanks a lot for making another big house available for gold. Proudspire invokes some good memories. It feels very familiar to the house of the 4th era.
    I don't have characters to live in a vampire house so I was not really interested to check that one.

    Second, new furnishings are amazing, especially paintings. It is also good to have more new life trees and other snowy vegetation.

    There goes the general feedback. I have counted 30+ new paintings. My art gallery will be really enriched with them but... the cost will be painful. The cost of removed items. Please consider allowing us to use Collectible slots for paintings and other items from the gallery section (just like Undaunted gallery items) in addition to Traditional furnishing slots.

    What are your general thoughts on new houses?

    They are both nice, but I prefer Bastion Sanguinaris. Proudspire Manor is just.. blah. Was never a fan of the original, and the light stone is just... meh.

    What do you think of the new furnishings?
    Solitude style is nice, much better than Nord. Thank for you once again including a filled winerack! I'd comment on other furnishings... but we can't get the full plans list for preview! Hint...hint...
    The Vampire style is great... but it's scuffed, all the pieces are worn! I was hoping to mix Alinor and Vampire, but Alinor is shiny so Vampire looks sad next to it. Guess I'll be farming up tons of Culanda Laquer for the Bastion.

    One thing I noticed was the lack ofnew conservatory furnishings for purchase. Like all of the crystals, mushrooms and coral(?) in Blachreach. Please do not make me fly to ZOS HQ and demand more glowing mushrooms.

    What are your general thoughts on new houses?

    Proudspire is a gorgeous house, love the architecture and the layout.

    The Inn room is a nice size and I like the layout. I couldn't access the vampire house, ported there but couldn't figure out how to get up to the door but I'm more a medium/small size house person so I'm perhaps not the person to give a fair opinion on it.

    What do you think of the new furnishings?

    The new furnishings are excellent - love them all and the different variations of wood. I personally like my homes to look lived in. The new hearth items are outstanding - the different foods and platters and the dishes and cookware are excellent. The paintings and the rugs are gorgeous and a variety of book shelves with books! I could go on but suffice to say I'm very impressed by the amount and the quality of the items.

    This update adds a new way to move furnishings, to make it easier to position furnishings exactly where you want them. If you tried out the new Precision Editing mode: Was it clear how to manipulate furnishings in this mode?

    yes it was clear.

    Did you encounter any issues with Precision Editing?

    I did not.

    Did it make it easier for you to decorate the way you wanted to?

    Yes it did, much easier especially, for example when placing items in baskets. That was always tricky trying to get it positioned properly and this tool makes it much easier to do so.

    Do you have any other general feedback?

    I do hope you will add fireplaces or give us an option to make or buy them separately? I see them in the palace so I know they exist and it's the only thing missing from the ProudSpire house. A Nord home needs a good hearth to sit around with friends and a mug of mead.

    I would also like to see the fire pits/grills (the ones the food is being cooked on) as an option to make or buy as well please. It will add to the immersion if they are available for us to add to our homes.

    Excellent job and thank you!

    Overall Feedback on Furnishings Plans

    The Breakdown of plans:
    Vampiric = 49
    - Blueprints = 24
    - Designs = 2
    - Diagrams = 3
    - Formulas = 0
    - Pattern = 13
    - Praxis = 7
    - Sketch = 0
    * Fine = 0
    * Superior = 20
    * Epic =29
    * Legendary = 0

    Solitude = 184
    - Blueprints = 94
    - Designs = 30
    - Diagrams = 31
    - Formulas = 0
    - Pattern = 19
    - Praxis = 4
    - Sketch = 6
    - Fine = 42
    - Superior = 86
    - Epic = 56
    - Legendary = 0

    Total = 233
    - Blueprints = 118 (50.6%)
    - Designs = 32 (13.8%)
    - Diagrams = 34 (14.6%)
    - Formulas = 0
    - Pattern = 32 (13.8%)
    - Praxis = 11 (4.7%)
    - Sketch = 6 (2.5%)
    * Fine = 42 (18%)
    * Superior = 106 (45.5%)
    * Epic = 85 (36.5%)
    * Legendary = 0

    I am overall pleased with the total number of furnishing plans, however that is about where it ends for me. Over 50% of all the plans are blueprints, and there isn't a single formula in this update. Praxis and Sketches are also quite minimal. This is rather disappointing as blueprints already make up the vast majority of the furnishing plans in the game and this just increases the offset. There are many items that in previous updates would not have fallen into the blueprint category, usually mirrors are praxis, baskets are in formulas, patterns or designs, and jewelry boxes are in sketches or praxis. I also feel that unlike the previous updates, and this batch of furnishing plans seems almost rushed, with very little variation in the materials used, or the quantities used for plans. For instance there are 19 epic plans that use 13 heartwood, 8 decorative wax and 6 ochre, which is just under 25% of all purple plans using the same exact ingredients! If you look back at homestead almost all plans used the same ingredients, but various quantities of ingredients. Next there is the ingredient issue. Why are we using conundrum as the crafting material. This update introduced 4 new style materials, why not use them. Running dailies for style material is part of the game, and what makes these items interesting and different to begin with. After people collect their motifs from the dailies, there will be no reason to continue doing them. The style material will have no use as there is no furnishing plan calling for them. Using Corundum instead of Gloomsprore Chitin is a step backwards and will take away from the deployability of the dailies and diminish the importance of the new items. The alchemy ingredient for the vampiric furnishing plans is an appreciated and interesting touch, but going all the way to Western Skyrim just to get the equivalent of a fancy Nord item is not as appealing. I am not a fan of all the worn out items, but i am more disappointed by the fact that there is not a single furnishing plan for structures. Not a single staircase, well, wall, floor or any building material whatsoever. I would rather get 50 furnishing plans with worthwhile and unique items to craft and enjoy, instead of 200 furnishing plans that are identical in gradients with a different name using common and readily available materials.

    Errors that need correcting:
    - "Blueprint: Solitude Bookcase, Narrow Backless Fill"(Epic) = missing the "ed" at the end of "Filled" (166865)
    - "Blueprint: Solitude Bookcase, Rustic Cabinet Fille"(Superior) = missing the "d" at the end of "Filled" (166879)
    - "Blueprint: Solitude Bookcase, Narrow Noble Cabinet" = There is an Epic and Superior version with the same name (166880, 166881)
    - "Blueprint: Orcish Chair, Peaked" = There is still an Epic and Superior version with the same name. This has been like this since homestead.

    What are your general thoughts on new houses?

    Globally? Underwhelmed. The stone textures in Solitude seem barren and stark, and Proudspire is similarly afflicted. The decent ambient lighting, ironically, makes this all the more obvious to me. I found the layout of Proudspire to be tight, cramped, and difficult to navigate, and that is in first person! I can only imagine the camera bouncing in third person vs the ceiling. The lighting is spectacular, but for me it just made the space seem washed out because there's nothing interesting to illuminate, at least structurally.
    The vampire house (once I built a stairway up into it) is very well designed. I won't be buying it as I dislike the whole evil skull thing. However, from an objective standpoint, the whole concept of the structure is beautifully conceived and executed. The Aerie at the top, with the calcified stone tunnel, that is just spectacular. I would've loved to see that level of creativity with the Telvanni towers, but alas. Aside from my profound respect for the design of the place, it seems unwieldy in its scale, even if I was on the market for an evil vampire palace (and it is palatial) I wouldn't even know where to begin with our current item limits.

    I was deeply disappointed to discover that Greymoor will NOT include an expandable house a la Hall of the Lunar Champion. I absolutely *loved* that feature, and despite my disappointment with the third wing, I had really been looking forward to another house to grow with me as I adventured in Skyrim. I think this is very much a missed opportunity, and am quite sad at the decision to not go forward with that as a chapter feature.
    As it stands, I have no intention of buying any of the homes currently on the PTS, and will instead have to find a different house to display furnishings and antiquities from this chapter.

    What do you think of the new furnishings?

    Similarly underwhelmed. The Solitude furnishings are mediocre at best. Rough, worn, and the basic designs seem questionably well thought out. The "Noble" style is a big disappointment, and the other one, Rough I think, is abysmal. Good for a camp site I suppose, but not a house.
    The vampire furnishings have some good elements, but WAY too shiny, and some of the specific elements look like it came straight from the Sims (eg; the drawers on the desk seem very out of place, also too smooth and plain) and in general, there's maybe 1 or 2 pieces I might find a use for.

    While I didn't find any myself, the screens I have seen for far for the Antiquities furnishings have me VERY excited. I am looking forward to becoming an archaeologist to track these down and put together a proper museum for them all to be displayed. Very cool, unique items that will definitely be worth the time to track down.

    This update adds a new way to move furnishings, to make it easier to position furnishings exactly where you want them. If you tried out the new Precision Editing mode:

    I didn't play with precision editing too much, but I look forward to learning to use it next time I start a project! Very nice addition.
