Shield of Senchal Motif - Is There A Cooldown On Drops?

Drop rate is terrible, motif access dropped a few days ago.

Yes there is a 2 hour cooldown on motifs, from what I've seen with all the farming I've done since Thieves guild. Otherwise I'd have lots.

regardless of motif you get 1 every 2 hours. Stop farming when you get one. I suggest opening the DH chest before you log off. My friend and I used to swap chars and farm outlaw etc. With TG, changed since.

You can get multiple motifs in events, I can't explain it.

This stuff is getting old.

Every single time they release something with rng drops, they should tell us the details.

The thing is, I've pulled multiple Anequina motifs in one session, one after the other, on the same character at the same time when sharing quests in a party, as well as other motifs from other content, with a gap of less than a few seconds. Have you actually gotten a second Shield of Senchal Motif after two hours?

ETA: Not saying you're not right, but it would be good to find out if you are officially, that way we can time things accordingly.

Well 3 characters into dailies and I got 1 drop, I got legs. Going to test the 2 hour theory now...

well, my RNG must be horrible - did the dailies today on all my dps characters and didn't get a single motif, so now 1 motif out of two day sof farming

IF, and that's a big IF, they are not limited to 1 a day. Then their drop rates are probably similar to the Murkmire Strongboxes. Fairly high probability of getting your first, then the drop rate plummets to near zero for subsequent coffers.

If they have done something like this and it has been done to incentivise buying the dam thing, its a rather daft gamble.
hell im surprised it doesnt increase the gold buying market there is a reason other mmos even ftp ones dont do such things.

I don't think the majority would be upset if we got confirmation that, in the interest of keeping "motifs" a motivating way to trade gold among players instead of having their prices plummet almost immediately through alt farming, they drastically reduced a chance of a second motif dropping per day.

I'm sure some would see it as a bad move for the health of the game and it can easily be argued they are doing it to incentivize further crown trading (Why spend a million gold for 4 pieces of the motif when you can spend a million for the entire thing?) but overall I can see the merit in not wanting a brand new motif just added to the game to crash within three weeks of its existence. (Like Anequina did for example).

But the important thing is that we get told that's the policy going forward. I know it's hard to believe ZOS but we genuinely just want communication in the patch notes about "Hey guys looking back we realized this wasn't a good decision for the game or it's economy so we are making X change."

You run the game, we get that. We can't have every single change we ask for (otherwise my first change would be to remove 90% of the heartwood, decorative wax, and mundane rune requirements from furniture cause they are insane). But we do at least want to know what direction you're taking the game we play in and be informed about it as your loyal customer base.

They seem to have a really low droprate regardless. I've done dailies every day since they came out - even got together with a group today and did about 5 sets...and still not a single page.

I think Dragonguard had a better drop rate than this.

I've had 2 motifs so far from the last 2 days, doing the dailies on 7 toons. Both times a motif dropped from the 1st box I opened. Prior to this I did the dailies on 5 toons over the course of the week had around 50 boxes unopended. Opened them up a just got a style material and an armour/weapon piece.

I'm guessing the cooldown is 24 hours from the last time you got one or opened a box, not a set reset time each day.

Just did 2 more and got nothing and it's been less than 24 hours.

Wil try again tonight after it's been 24 hours since the last one I received and see what happens.

God forbid people want to actually know the mechanics of drops.

God forbid they want to know if they’re wasting their time doing multiple dailies when there’s a long cooldown.

God forbid customers expect to have half decent communication that doesn’t obscure what they are actually able to earn by playing the game.

Well yeah it's only been 3 days that we are speculating without a single piece of response from ZOS. It's like we are just starting. Lucky if we can get a response in 3 weeks /s.

If you are opening one box at a time on each character then you are doing it wrong. If you are doing it on, for example, 5 characters, you should open 5 boxes on 1st character on one day, 5 boxes on 2nd character on next day, etc.

I don't think its 24 hours. I just tested it by opening multiple boxes on my account after having gotten a motif less than 24 hours ago, before the quest reset. Took about 5-6 boxes to hit a motif. It definitely seems to be linked to a reset of some kind, though I'm not certain if its the reset of the quest itself or if it has a reset of its own that's less than 24 hours.

My motif was a repeat dagger motif >.>; This is going to be a slow and painful process.

...aaaand still haven't even gotten a single motif page. I think it's more that the drop rate is just terrible - like the drop rates for the Outlaw motif that took ages to get.

I'm really scared for the drop rates of New Moon.

I have a really, really, really bad droprate of Dragonguard. I turned in 4 quests today, 0 motifs. I've done way more than the 30 required for the achievement and have had I believe 3 motifs drop for me total. I have learned 7, but that's because a guildie and I usually go through all our duplicates across all motifs and trade what we can.
