I mean, if you go to zone and ask for 10k to buy a horse, you get blasted. Why is this different?

For goodness sake, all of that is perfectly reasonable and obvious @Aurielle. My problem with that player was his failure to communicate, especially after the mistaken trade.
Perhaps the player was annoyed with you for whispering him out of the blue? Lots of people hate that addon for the intrusive whispers they receive, and won’t respond on principle.
It is not actually intrusive though, every data is open to the API directly or indirectly(yes, including someone else's exact DPS) and nothing is really private in ESO.
Generally what I have seen, as soon as I get a good drop, I get like 5-6 immediate whispers. If I need it, I say no and otherwise I give it to the first person. Yes, there are some jerks who demand a certain drop but that ain't gonna get them anywhere.
Add them to your ignore list.
I use my ignore list like a lifelong ban list. I won’t group with them, have them removed from any guilds I’m in, etc...
If it’s any consolation the person will go through life being a loser. Trust is the number one thing I look for when promoting people, people think it’s just a game but in reality things like this are a character flaw that pops up the rest of their life.

Not responding to someone who’s asking for loot in a video game is indicative of a “character flaw” that pops up in the rest of a person’s life? This person is, furthermore, a “loser” and will remain one for the rest of their life for not responding to a request for loot in a video game? Wow. That’s a bit dramatic and judgmental, don’t you think?
I never could understand how people feel that their loot is a private case, should everything be private then?
Name?
CP lvl?
Gear?
dps?
title?
pvp rank?
How can you hate this face?

Name - you choose what your name is, thus you choose what people see.
CP - true, others can see your raw number, but they don't know how you've allocated the points.
Gear - private (except sets like sanctuary which give other players a buff they can see on their own screens).
DPS - private as far as I know. My interface only tells me my own DPS as a percentage of the group damage. It does not tell me a random player's DPS.
Title - again, you choose what title others see.
PVP rank - I don't play PVP so I'm not sure if this is public by default.
But yeah, most of those things are already private/shown to others only by choice...

Why is it that half the people I come across with pugs name them Winston? Is it from a movie or something?
Had an experience with that creepy loot snooping add-on. Some guy said in the grp chat before we started that he's looking for a chest or leg piece of a set. We all said sure ok and I kept his request in mind.
Then halfway through the dungeon, he suddenly linked the drops that other ppl and I got in the group chat and asking if he can have those. The other dude and I got legit creeped out and he asked "wth how did you know what I got??". I was initially willing to give my drops to him, but that snooping behavior is just so stalker-ish it completely pissed me off and I almost didn't give my drops to him.
I did give it to him in the end tho. I wish that add-on is banned... So creepy!

Whenever someone asks me to give him sth, I always respond. Dont know why some people fail to act like normal human beings.
You’re playing an international game, with people who speak many languages and come from many backgrounds. The person who isn’t responding might not speak English. They might have chat disabled because they prefer to play the game without that distraction. They might have severe social anxiety and struggle to respond to strangers. Or they might just be annoyed with the intrusive nature of the add-on and hate getting bombarded with whispers after every drop. Why accuse someone of not acting like a “normal human being” when there are so many valid and understandable reasons why a person might not respond?
You always get a notification if someone whispers/messages you or if you receive mail... If you ignore it or not, it's your decision.
If you sneak peak on my drops and then whisper me during the dungeon or trial, that's rude.
I don't even check my drops until the end, so I have no idea what I get and no desire to know thanks. Have some manners dude.
IF I want to trade it, I will say so to the group at the end.
If I don't say, it means I don't want to trade it.
Good luck getting your chestpiece and have fun.

I literally never link any gear, if anyone wants something bad enough they'll have the addon and pm me to ask for it. If someone is asking you something and you choose not to respond because you don't like the addons they're using, don't expect that person to group with you in the future. It's one thing not to understand them, and another to actively ignore them. In any case, when you're running a trial (especially something like sunspire, which is full of bis gear people most likely need), it is an *** move not to give people the loot you don't need. That's the simple truth of the matter

The whispering them about their gear is what feels intrusive. Feeling intrusive is a subjective experience.
I think I’d be pretty annoyed if someone whispered me out of the blue in the middle of a trial because they have an intrusive add-on installed...
If people want to share their loot, they’ll say so at the end of a run. You aren’t entitled to anyone’s drops, and people are under no obligation to share stuff with you if they’re not actively grinding for the piece you’re seeking. Many people don’t immediately NEED certain gear pieces, but will hang on to them, just in case.

And then there's all the players who don't really check their drops, or don't bother to link stuff - not because they want to keep it, or are unwilling to trade, but just they forget, or don't care unless asked - i.e. they assume you're using the addon, or prefer everyone is pestering the group for stuff at the start (and then promptly don't remember you asked for it at the end). And then there's the players who just drop out of the group - you never asked for the stuff, so they immediately assume you're not looking for it. Others will refuse to trade anything exactly if you asked at the beginning, just to make sure that someone is guaranteed to lose in any case.Alienoutlaw wrote: »personally i am more than happy to trade gear i dont need with pugs in trials or dungeons...
How am I supposed to find out which kind of jerk player you are?
